Being from Appalachia where Tyler is from, his voice perfectly sums up life there. It’s a hard living. People age twice as fast because the few jobs there are, are usually manual labor or coal mining. Families are isolated from ever leaving for a better life because of the economy and the opiate problem. The soul in his voice perfectly sums up the struggle and pain of just trying to get by.

Lex, your faucet metaphor is perfect ~ physically, that is exactly what he is doing: by opening and closing his larynx, he is creating turbulence (when narrow) in his voice box, which in turn creates the raspiness... whereas when he opens up, you get the really clear and powerful notes... you're spot on, it's all physics

That’s a Mountains of Eastern Ky vibe!!! His hometown just a county over, and the great Chris Stapleton is born and raised about 15 mins from my hometown! That being Paintsville Ky of Johnson Co. That’s the thing of Southeastern Ky, all running down this HWY US 23, also known as Country Music Highway! All from this small pocket of the Appalachia Mtns in Ky you have The First Lady of Country Music Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, The great Keith Whitley, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dwight Yoakam, The Judds, Tom T. Hall who wrote like 11 #1 hits, Sundy Best, Gary Stewart, Patty Loveless, and of course Tyler & Chris not to mention Sturgill Simpson was born and raised also in the Mtns of Eastern Ky from Breathitt Co and the city of Jackson. Ended up moving as a teenager to Lexington.. That is a few, and we are very proud of those who do big things from our area, bc we may not appear to have a lot going on from the outside looking in, but we got our own way of life and we wouldn’t change a thing! Family & Friends, good ole homegrown front porch pickin music, The Lord and church on Sunday, hunting & fishing, anything outdoors, and food that you can’t get in any restaurant! As Hank says better believe we grow our own smoke, and make our own homemade wine..,but more like our own corn liquor! Lol We luv horses, it’s a normal and unspoken thing when a neighbor is in emergency or tough times you volunteer ur help for no other reason than that’s the way it is! Someone passes, no funeral home will be digging ur grave, yet a collection of those around will see where it needs to be, and get it done out of respect to the family! Sure can’t forget the fact that we luvvvv our BASKETBALL! All things High School basketball and The Greatest Program and winningest program of All-Time and it’s not really close when you take a good peak at the #’s!!!! So God Bless and Go Big Blue!!!!!!
