Keeping things vague in dbz and beyond aside from names to avoid spoilers: There are a handful of other users, but they only use it rarely. Tien, for example, used it against Yamcha if memory serves. Cell and Buu have also used it. Gohan has a pretty famous example of using it. Grandpa Gohan, but he was dead at the time. Goten can use it (im not counting trunks because gt isnt really canon.) But yeah, Goku, Roshi, Krillin, and Yamcha are the main ones. The Turtle Hermit and his students.

Glad to see you have so much fun with the series. Again, a few things: - Master Roshi is indeed human, as others have mentioned. He is over 300 years and was the strongest human in the world in his prime. He also did invent the Kamehameha, which took him 50 years to master, while others learn it in seconds, which has become somewhat of a running joke. Furthermore, he also did train Goku and Krillin when they were kids, and they lived with him for several years. In the original film, they seek out Roshi as they still believe him to be the strongest. Fun Fact: Kamehameha isn't actually as Japanese word, but is a reference to Hawaiian king Kamehameha I. Granted, "Kame" can be translated as "turtle" and "ha" as wave, so it loosely means "turtle wave". Hence, why Master Roshi is also called the turtle hermit. - Since the Dragonballs are magical creations, I don't know if they can be damaged physically. You can however kill Shenron like Piccolos father did in the og Dragonball to prevent others from using it. And when the creator dies, they turn into stone. And much later in Dragonball Super, there is a guy who destroys a pair of Dragonballs. So I guess they can't be destroyed physically, but there are ways to get rid of them. - Some of the wishes are indeed very questionable, and this is somewhat of a meme in the Dragonball fandom. As to why they don't just ask the dragon to make them stronger, in DBZ it's explained that the Dragon can't grant wishes that go beyond the power of his creator. Someone does suggest to use Shenron to kill the Sayians, but he can't do that since they are stronger than Kami aka God who created the Dragonballs. Later, Goku is also able to refuse a wish to bring him back to earth. In DB Super there is a different set of Dragonballs where you are able to wish to become stronger, however it's in exchange for much of your lifespan. And Dragonball GT has an arc which evolves around overusing the Dragonballs for stupid wishes having negative consequences. - The ending is completely original and was animated by TFS for the occasion. In the original, Willow is also evil and just wants a body, and Goku ultimately kills him with a spirit bomb.

At one point in the universe's timeline, Master Roshi was the strongest fighter on Earth. He's an immortal (just in the case of he cannot die of old age) who's a former martial arts tournament champion - hence why their data told them he was the strongest. Keep in mind, Kochin was searching for a way to get back into the lair for 50 years and Wheelo was basically MIA, so they didn't really have up to date news of the last three world tournaments (as far the last three we know of from the series). Master Roshi still holds talent as a fighter, primarily with his years of experience, but power-wise, he's probably the weakest of the Z Fighters at this point. You don't have to react to them, but I highly recommend you check out Krillin vs. Jackie Chun (Master Roshi's alter ego) and Goku vs. Jackie Chun from Dragonball. Both are exceptionally good fights. Also, the wish in the original was - if I remember right -to recover the lair from several layers of ice. Pretty much the part when Gohan jumped into the sky to talk to Wheelo and afterwards was all their own animation to change the actual story around.

28:32 - If you're confused here, Launch is a character from the old Dragon Ball series. She was a girl with a kind of split personality that would trigger when she sneezed. One (blue hair) was friendly and naive, the other (blonde) was violent and mean. She had an uzi and almost anytime she went blonde Launch, she'd shoot the crap out of kid Goku and Krillin with it. But being stronger than average people, the bullets couldn't break their skin. Which is why Krillin was just tanking the shots. In the old series I believe the bullets still hurt, but weren't life threatening. Just a goofy moment thing. In the original World's Strongest movie, Krillin runs from the bullets, but I think this was a funny nod to the old series. Keep up the reactions. Good stuff

Dragon balls are limited by the power of their creator. They can't add power out of nowhere, or kill someone who's stronger than the creator of the dragon balls. Goku even refused to let the dragon teleport him back on earth at the end of Frieza saga, and since he's stronger than the creator, dragon balls couldn't do shit

This movie, even though it takes place pretty early in the series, was actually abridged by TeamFourStar pretty late in the run. I think somewhere around episode 51 maybe 54. And around that time they were actually doing more than just dubing over the original show, they actually had pictures, segments, whole new lip-flaps and an unexplored, until recently plot point of the android saga. That’s why with this movie there were some segments that didn’t seem like they actually belong in the show or movie. That’s because they got that good at a abridging that they could actually make new stuff to fit what they wanted.

"Justice!" -Oolong The confusing nature of the plot in the beginning is indicative of the original DBZ movies. They often lurch from one plot point to another, with very little connecting tissue. Lord Slug and Return Of Cooler are the worst offenders. Team Four Star tried their best to clean it up, but there's little they can do. Dr. Wheelo is indeed just as evil as Dr. Kochin in the original, but clearly they thought it more interesting to make Dr. Wheelo sympathetic. I honestly think that this is a huge improvement.

Master Roshi is a martial arts legend in the Dragon Ball world. Like everyone that knows anything about gymnastics and sports in the world of Dragon Ball knows about him. And want to be him. Like the original Mr. Satan. He is, like many others here have said, the teacher/grandfather figure of Goku and Krillin. And the master who thought Son Gohan Sr. And Ox King back in the day... So when Ox king heard about Goku's experience he right up asked him if he'd like to marry his daughter Chi Chi. Master Roshi is also connected to the original master of TienShinhan and Chiauzu. Later he becomes Tiens mentor as well... As well as Yamcha.

Answering all of Mattables' questions week 13: 1. They commissioned the Oolong revolution images. 2. A. They want to have their friends back. B. There's apparently a rule that the dragon can't make or directly kill anyone stronger than the dragon. I don't know how the strength of the dragon is determined. 3. I haven't seen the original for this one, but in all fairness it was literal mountains and glaciers of ice. Still agree it's a dumb wish though. 4. It DBZA World's Strongest by Team Four Star 5. The Apple is a reference to another DBZA movie. 6. Roshi has a relatively large part in this movie and in DragonBall and DragonBall Super, however not that much in the Dragon Ball Z. 7. You bring up a good point with Bulma. Best I got is that she comes there as a general hang out spot for seeing friends. 8. The pic is edited in. 9. Master Roshi is the original strongest human. He invented the Kamehameha (Turtle Wave) and was Goku and Krillen's teacher and master before they were adults. The strongest human now is arguably Krillen, otherwise Tien. 10. Luffy and Goku are both dumb as bricks except when it comes to fighting. Luffy is also good at motivational speaking. Goku's fighting style isn't even half as goofy though. 11. What hasn't Goku done to Chi-Chi? 12. Gohan is not one of the strongest at this point in the timeline. 13. Wilo is evil in the original, but not in DBZA's version. 14. The ending is not real. That entire ending scene was commissioned and voiced by Team Four Star.

A little fun something I got reminded of with you being confused by Bulma by being at Roshi's house; like most people who were watching DBZ and Dragonball back during the 90s and early 2000s, I saw DBZ first, then Dragonball. Since Bulma hung around Roshi's so much, I initially thought Roshi was her grandfather. I even thought it was kind of an interesting dynamic, Roshi being a famous badass martial artist and Bulma being an inventor and scientist who didn't know any martial arts, made for a cool contrast between generations. When Dragonball did come out and I started catching episodes here and there, it was random and kind of in the middle of the show. I was NOT prepared for when I finally started doing a proper watch from the start and saw Roshi creeping on a teenage Bulma in the early episodes. So much for my innocent theories about their connection. Although honestly, considering Bulma actual place in the world of the show (her father basically being one of the richest men in the world thanks to his capsule inventions), it really only makes it odder that she spends so much time hanging out at Roshi's instead of, say, the 15th beach house that her family owns in some premier location in the world.

So bulma encounter goku, they teamed up, also met Yamcha, krillin was there from the start he trained with goku under master roshi. So it was a thirst for adventure and being in the know she hung out with goķu and by extention roshi. That's why she hung around. Her best and most exciting times revolved around goku. And she grew attached, like all of them do, proximity and curiosity. I can't blame her how could you go back to the rich boring life when you know you can experience and discover so much more? It's like trying to algernon yourself. Once you know you can't really go back, you always know something is missing.

19:50 Luffy and Goku are both part of a very common trope, the "stupid (yet loveable and occasionally very smart at fighting) protagonist" that you see a lot in anime. They also share the common trait of loving/eating way too much food. Naruto also fits all these (though in his case, the food is limited to ramen). I'm sure people could share a ton of other examples of this trope. In fact, I would say probably 90% of protagonists in shounen anime are either that type, or the "badass, edgy, anti-hero" type.

Canonically the dragon balls are indestructible as long as It's creators is alive, they are also límite by the power of It's creator, so they can't grant someone more power that the one who made them has(at least those were the rules, then Super happened, but everything is super goes agains DB and DBZ and dosn't make sense). Many of the wishes made on the dragon Balls really didn't made sense, of i remember correctly the first whish that was ever made on the show was to get panties and in Super Bulma canonically summon the dragon once a year to whish to look a year younger and have a bigger ass(whis i was joking) 10:50 is a reference to a the Garlic gr movie they made that happened before this one, you'll see it eventually. 16:50 Roshi is the human who invented the Kamehameha, he was the strongest human in the world probably until Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and Chautzu(i'm not sure if those last 2 are actually human) were training to fight the saiyans, after that literally every character that ever fights in the show is stronger than he ever was. Roshi is also inmortal and the oldest man in the world, he also has a Buff form. Goku and Krilling learned the Kamehameha from him. Krilling is also human, the current strongest human in the world actually. 19:37 Because you have never seen both shows together, there are indeed many similaritys as they are both clasic shonen protagonist, but there are also many diference, Luffy is emotionally more inteligent, Luffy fight for his dreams and those of his friends while Goku fights because he enjoy it and to protect his friends, Luffy is driven by being free, achiving dreams, protecting his friends, having fun and can not handle being force fully separated from his friends while Goku is driven by getting stronger and fighting stronger guys whit protecting his friends being slightly below on his priority list, and not really caring for not seeing his friends in leteral years, and in general, just the way they engage whit the world is completly diferent. Yes, but at around the time this movie takes places, both Goku and Picolo are way stronger than him, Krilling even being close to him in power, remember that he is 5 years old at this time.

The problem in that choice came from not understanding his son not him being stupid he then knows he made a mistake and thus sacrifices himself. For his son greater good he also gave cell the sensu because he knew Gohan was stronger than him and all Gohan needed was a push to get into ssj2 and Goku was right the mistake came from not understanding his sons feelings towards fighting due to goku's nature as a saiyan. could you at least watch the show before deciding something.

Also, are we really gatekeeping the validity of anime opinions based on spelling? I just don't think Goku is a smart character. I think he is written as a monumentally stupid person who values a good fistfight over the fate of people's lives. The movies run more on themes. This one is "science". Kochin names everything the same. Saibamen become "bio-men", the z warriors become "Bio-warriors". Goku kaiokens to a non-integer number. Either the theme hits, or it does not. The team got more leeway in storytelling when it came to the movies.
