I remember a young Manny Pacquiao asking his Handlers for a Naseem Hamed fight Manny lacked credibility at that time for a Hamed fight . A few months later Manny made His US debut and TkO'ed Ledwaba while Hamed just lost to Barrera

Everyone harps on about his defeat to Barrera but the reality is he was already shot to bits before he fought him. You can’t keep fighting the way Naz fought and expect longevity. It’s why Mayweather changed his style from pretty boy floyd to Money Mayweather. Naz is an all time great as a boxer and in a league of his own as an entertainer. A british boxing icon.
@4879daniel6 ай бұрын
True - people don’t realise it now as he was still young but watch some of his later fights and the commentators wasn’t the same. It went downhill after got too rich and left Brendan Ingle, his trainer. I am old enough to have followed his career at the time.
@Jamie-kv9eg6 ай бұрын
@@4879danielFor sure. Also It’s not like he got knocked spark out either. Naz was tough man. That gets overlooked as well.

It had more to do with him switching coaches and his new coach not knowing how to coach his unique style for higher competition.

It's an accurate statement. He was 100% a native of the UK and was born in Sheffield. He was of North African descent. ancestrally he was of Yemen. But he was born in and is almost totally associated with Sheffield, and is definitely a British boxer, one of their top 10.
