So glad that you are diving into Tim McGraw. He's a great rabbit hole to go down. Absolutely check out Don't Take the Girl - and Amber bring your tissues. One of my faves is called Fly Away - he actually has kids singing along with him at the end of the song. Most adorable! Real Good Man - and It's Your Love is a great one with his wife - Faith Hill. Enjoy! I think this was early to mid 90's.

90's country was such a golden age for the genre, honestly. I miss it terribly. Modern country can be nice, but gosh, there was just this perfect blend of the old school violins and twang mixed with the newer slide guitar and drums. The songs all held so much heart and some were genuinely hilarious. Tim McGraw is one of the greats from that era. Others include people like Toby Keith and Faith Hill. Faith Hill actually did some songs with Tim McGraw and I highly recommend. Shania Twain is another country goddess you've listened to who was from the 90's.

Since Rob is an athlete as well as Amber, you may not know Tim's father is Tug McGraw. He was a Pittsburgh Pirate baseball player. His Mom apparently had met him and they had a fling and voila. He found out as a teenager. He had a great relationship with him later on and wrote " live like you're dying" because his dad had cancer. You have got to check ✔ out him and his gorgeous wife faith sing " it's your love"..faith would be great female Friday choice!! Love 2 you and RSR family!

Actually Tim didn’t write that song and it wasn’t about his dad but you know probably most of us fan for sure thought it was about his dad. “Live Like You Were Dying" is a song recorded by American country music artist Tim McGraw, and was the lead single from his eighth album of the same name (2004). It was written by the songwriting team of Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. The duo crafted the song based on family and friends who learned of illnesses (cancers), and how they often had a new perspective on life upon learning they had limited time. They decided to write a song based on the concept, hoping that it might inspire someone in such a situation. The song's lyrics center on experiencing life to its fullest, while also becoming a better person.”

Tim has grown so much as an artist. I know everyone will say “Don’t Take The Girl”, which is a great song. But I’d like to suggest a few different ones… each tells a story and will leave you touched. 1). Live Like You Were Dying 2). Red Ragtop 3). Highway Don’t Care (with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban) 4). If You’re Reading This 5). Just To See You Smile You really can’t go wrong with Tim. So glad to see him and his wife Faith Hill acting together in the series 1883. The man is so talented. Thank you both for the wonderful reactions!

Garth Brooks changed the boundaries of Country Music, in 1989. There's Country & Western (old stuff) and there's Modern Country. Randy Travis opened up the door, in the mid 80s. Then Garth Brooks blew the doors off the hinges in '89.

I have always loved Tim McGraw since he first came out! He was fresh you know people just loved him.......... But The KING / GOAT Is George Strait so many country music performers have talked about how George Strait Inspired them in so many ways with their music and have performed with him! George Strait came out in the 80's and He blew people away literally!!!! He's still performing today! He has been called the KING Of Country Music him and George Jones were very good friends! OK I've rattled enough --- I don't think I could pick favorites of George Strait They all would go to # 1 and ALL Are Great! but - Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbye - The Chair - Check Yes Or No - If I Know Me - I Cross My Heart -- HE Just sang it to his wife of 50 years In Vegas Live It was beautiful!! He was 19 When He met Norma and She was 17!!!

"Breathe" was one of biggest hits, but my favorite is "Take Me As I Am" or her cover/ take on "Piece of My Heart," the Janis Joplin tune. Another from that era is Mark Will's "Jacob's Ladder," John Michael Montgomery "The Little Girl" or Carrie Underwood "Jesus Take the Wheel."

As others have said so many great songs by Tim. One that is emotional, beautiful and thought provoking all at the same time ... "Live Like You Were Dying". If people would live that way all the time and not wait ... well I think the world would be a better place. A few years ago I said to hell with what people expected and decided to live the life I wanted. It's had a few rough patches but more importantly is all the amazing and wonderful adventures. I did it with three very special labs riding in my truck beside me. Two have passed on and the third will join his brothers sometime in the next 3-6 months. I've personally got a few years but yes I was told AFTER I made my change that my life would not be as long as I hoped. No worries everyone while I wont live a long life ... not crazy short either ... no major issues yet just an incurable disease that can be treated. I've got more adventures ahead.

That was 1997. As with all genres, country music grows and changes but they all are great at telling a story. For an Oklahoma boy you might try Blake Shelton's God's Country. You will hear an even more modern sound for country music. Then there's the King of Country George Strait. Just choose a song. He has 60 #1 songs and many more top 10 songs. Unwound was one of his first hits, Amarillo By Morning, All My Ex's Live In Texas, Give It Away.

This is my fave Tim McGraw song and it always makes me a little teary. I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen him in concert a couple times; once at the start of his career and a few albums later. He’s one I’d gladly go see again. I think you would really enjoy the song “Over and Over” he did with Nelly.

Love Tim, met him in 1995 in the far north of Calif. It was after he had done a video in our lighthouse (1994) as a helicopter flew past him in the night, he said he was so cold. We took photos together at his bus after a summer concert outdoors under the stars. He was taller than I thought, and his whiskers scratched my forehead (before Faith). Really nice guy. He has his original sound you hear in this recording, and then after he took voice lessons, his original raw sound was gone. He sounds much like the rest of the singers, though he is still great!

Anything Tim Mcgraw is good though his earlier stuff like this has more twang. I like his later stuff better. He got better with age. His live song Real Good Man is fun and sexy! 🤪 His love songs with his wife Faith Hill are so good. His song Live Like You Were Dying is a good listen!

“Don’t Take the Girl”. Way back when, Martina McBride had been opening for Tim McGraw. Being in her fan club allowed certain perks like “meet and greets”. This particular meet and greet took place before the show backstage. As we walked backstage Tim McGraw was there, and we were introduced. That man is tall! Well, it was a great show. Tim’s dad, Tug McGraw, was at the show and stood when his son mentioned that. It was cool being in the presence of such greatness. It was a really great show. First Martina McBride and then Tim McGraw. Great stuff. 💜💜💜

I like music from pretty much all genres, especially 70-80's rock but there is no other music like "country" music that tugs on your heart strings. Not even close, songs about real life.

BLUEGRASS - Bill Monroe and His Bluegrass Band (originators of Bluegrass) "When You Are Lonely" or Little Jimmy Dickens "Family Reunion". I'm sure Bluegrass was done before this but they are the first recorded Bluegrass band. Most Bluegrass is instrumental. I picked these because there is singing.

Tim McGraw has one of the best and most extensive catalogs in all of country music. Y'all definitely need to dive into him more. You will both absolutely love- Dont Take the Girl, Southern Voice, Indian Outlaw, Live Like You Were Dying, Fly Away, Unbroken, I Like It I Love It, A Heart Don't Forget Something Like That! The absolute ultimate Daddy daughter wedding dance song, "My Little Girl" ..... and then even the lesser tier songs are good- Cowboy in Me, Next 30 Years, the Highway Don't Care ( with Taylor Swift), 9 Lives ( with Def Leppard), Refried Dreams, It's Your Love ( with Faith Hill), and Down on the Farm. So many great songs by him. You would be dealing yourself an absolute disservice to not Dive In!

This is the time frame when I was listening to country and I'm so glad you finally got here! Tim McGraw is one of my all-time faves. His voice is one you can always recognize, with that fantastic lisp. If you want more of the 'rock' country sound from the same time frame, give Garth Brooks a try.

I grew up loving almost all genres of music. As a musician myself, I liked to keep it diverse. I’m glad you guys did this one, this is a song that represents 90’s country perfectly. Great melody, voices, and most of all, great lyrics. I hope you guys do more 90’s country as I’m sure you will love it! I always say 90’s country is really a perfect mix of old Johnny Cash type country and modern “pop” country. Growing up it really irritated me that a lot of my friends would make of me because I listened to country and not just rap/top 40. Country has a stigma for some reason and to me, if you are a true music fan or even musician, you can find a lot of country songs you would love. The problem is, so many won’t even give it a chance. Keep it up Y’all!!!

His live performance of "Real Good Man" always leaves the ladies fanning themselves. He 1st hit the charts in 1994. He is part of THE CLASS OF '89. The 90's just exploded with so much talent. You really should go down the rabbit hole of 1990/2000 country. You'll be wondering how you didn't know about this. And current country has evolved way beyond what you'd think. As far as acting, you should check out "Flicka". Terrific, family oriented movie. Also, currently Tim is filming the series "1883" along with his wife, Faith Hill. Spin off of Kevin Costner's tv show, "Yellowstone"

I’ve always been a country boy at heart. I grew up in a small town out in the country I am trying to get back to that life nature is healing and is part of every fiber of our being. I’ve noticed over the years that people that live in town and people that live in the country are different but in a bad way, some people like living in town something like that in the country.
DEFINITELY NOT HAPPENING ON MY WATCH! 😒
