Point 3/4 on tolerating bad behaviour/making excuses..… It’s amazing how quickly we make excuses for certain peoples behaviour. I started to think to myself “if my best friend was sitting here telling me about this guy treating HER this way, what would I say?” We really need to start being a better friend to ourselves.

i had a huy following me round in the gym and chatting. He was interested in recruiting me into his department. I was interested in him, but he never made a move. I got frustrated and anxious and shut him down. At that point he got jealous of my talking to someone else and he started flirting. I was very confused from the mixed signals.

Thank you Helena & Tom! 🤗 I’ve listened to this podcast episode a couple times on Bullhorn, and I clicked on it again here because your message is so valuable! I was manipulated by a greater narcissist who convinced me that at our foundation we were “great friends.” So, as a result, I trusted him with my heart and my body, and I fell into every unhealthy behavior you describe. After he destroyed my self-esteem, I finally cut him out of my life. It’s been three years since I cut ties, and he’s popped up again (several times in the past five months) full of apologies and begging to reconnect, but I’m past it. I love myself too much to fall prey to his lies, manipulations, false friendship, charms, etc. Like you say, “past behavior is the best indicator of future behavior,” and I am never going back to that dark place. Thank you both!! 🤗

I made excuses because of his low self esteem and anxiety and so I tolerated alot and he gave me rides so i paid for gas, cooked for him or paid for food so he wasn't feeling like i was taking advantage. Just like i said once you are dating me ( he didnt have alot of luck with women and he was my best friend- i felt bad they were treating him bad), women will show interest. A singer that works with him kept getting more and more touchy feely, asking to ride with him to out of town gigs, and interrupted us praying over our food on our 9month anniversary to ask him what time he made it home that morning from their out of town gig. I asked him for over a month to establish boundaries. We are both singers. She ran to his boss when a mutual friend privately told her she was causing issues. The boss yelled at him for telling me and told him to break up with me and he did.

I cried during the 1st point because this is exactly where I’m at. After almost 5 years of being single, working on myself and healing from prior relationships this man from my past came along and I fell in love with him. I don’t have feelings for many guys (I’m either indifferent or all in) so when he reappeared my heart just flooded with all of these emotions. I started to feel things I haven’t felt in many years. But he recently got out of a toxic relationship and I wasn’t a priority to him so I had to let him go. I didn’t want to spend my life chasing and pleasing him. It really hurts and after 3 months I still think about him everyday. I still idolize him, I still think he’s a prize and I still put him on a pedestal. I’m hoping to get over him soon but it’s been extremely difficult. Some days I just lay in bed and cry. I don’t know if/when I’ll meet someone special again. It’s a sad hopeless feeling

I know this is 6 mos old but I hope you’re doing better now Marcelina. I’m going through it right now. I wish I had watched this before my man from the past came back this week. I accepted crumbs and letting this man live rent free in my head when he so isn’t worthy and has shown me he doesn’t prioritize me. He said a lot of things that made me feel wanted and desired but it’s been silent since I saw him and it hurts. Wish I could tattoo some of Helena’s points on the inside my eyelids.

Thank you Helena and Tom for this great video ..it seems to be all about how we regard ourselves ultimately and sticking to our guns in what we seek in a life partner. It's very easy to waver with your boundaries and make excuses for a guy who eventually doesn't match what you need as this typically comes to light much further down the line where you've opened your heart to them and trust them to have your best interests at heart. Over time they show you are who they are and you have to deal with the hard facts that they're not going to change and stop believing what they tell you as much as you hope for progress it doesn't happen so you can't trust their word. It's really hard emotions are involved. It's where I'm at now but I have to put myself first and move on. I must have faith that there are lots of good men out there and to learn to be very specific and directly communicate from the start as to what I'm looking for and move on quickly if that's not happening.

I believe most of us are so conscious of causing the guy suffering when we end a relationship ( even though we've been the ones suffering all along ) Difficult when you're nature is soft.. also how to say no to " let's just be friends then we can still get together " as I don't see how that helps finish things.

How do you let them fade out when they’re still initiating contact most of the time? He’s not wanting to commit and he’s sporadic with making plans to see me (he does see me but again it’s not frequently consistent) but is consistent in FaceTiming and calling. How do I let that drop off if he still initiates? I rarely make things happen. It’s mostly him. It’s just not 100% effort
@HelenaHartCoaching2 жыл бұрын
If he’s sporadic with making plans and not wanting to commit, the outcome is going to be the same no matter what you do - so I would follow your intuition there. You can always be straightforward and let him know that it feels as though you’re looking for different things or not on the same page, so you’re going to be moving on. 💕

When he consistently sends picture greetings daily without any words, I appear cold if I do not respond, how should I handle this in a warm feminine way to express I'm not satisfied.

It’s difficult him seeing me as I only work closing shifts and on weekends (odd time a Saturday off) while he works mornings to 4-6 evenings and now he works Saturdays now as the coworker quit (about two months ago). I once told him all I wanted was a full day with him (which he tries to visit me after 8pm or 10pm when I am off shift for couple of hours) and the night before I spend time with him, he worked till 11:30pm so that he can have the full day with me going for a cruise around the Okanagon (British Columbia) were we live. He tries and it’s hard because of our work schedule is mainly opposite.

We’ve been living together for 7 mos & together almost a year. Suddenly after bliss he’s not sure if he knows how to be happy & that he needs to Live alone for awhile. He’s jumped from relationship to relationship since high school … nothing I’ve done changed his love. It’s him. He’s having a mid life crisis & I’m the collateral damage. We were each other’s priority & now this out of nowhere. I’m giving him what he Needs but am so 💔. We never fight or argue. It was almost perfect. I don’t know why we can’t just take a break… We had plans to travel, met each other’s families, been through deaths together. It’s so difficult to work on myself or have anything to look forward to with all these Emotions while still living together, sleeping together & not having a reason to dislike each other. Will this ever work after he figures out who he is at 44? Thank you for falling into my day today. I wish I could stop loving him when clearly this is showing that he’s not the One for me. But there’s no way I could have seen this coming … I’m not sure what to do.

Wow hun I know that’s what some of society can tell us, but gosh we’re also living longer than ever into our 90’s & people can live vital wonderful lives until they die! I’m 54 & feel fantastic & I’m not perfect in any way. I would examine this faulty belief system that life is over at 55. Do a google search on people who find love again over 50 because it’s out there! Dont listen to anything or anyone saying that life is over at 50! What we believe will happen deep down inside is often what we limit ourselves to! Love IS out there for you 🤍
