Thank you for the shout out! I was really surprised to see my comment up there for all the world to see. For the record, I used my emojis properly I WAS winking at you Slime. Tony was a good looking guy with his well quaffed hair and Slime has a great head to be bald. Each man hot in his own way. Not all men can pull off the bald look because they have weirdly shaped or bumpy heads. I can totally understand not wanting to have the hair making you hot and sweaty and the thought of being smelly is horrible. You guys are funny, I loved this episode. Keep up the good work! PS- Lud, I did give you a Happy Birthday shout out as a payback for the one you sent to me. The night this fun all started. ❤Janet

As someone who Ludwig described as a passing Melee enjoyer I loved the swiss format. The amount of games was just the right number and it allowed me to find a player to root for than a quick best of 16 where I don't get the time to find out who the players are

yes 100%!!! i never watch melee outside of lud's streams but i loved watching the swiss format

I could be wrong, but I think Ludwig let's one specific or a couple of top Melee players make up his opinion on Swiss. If they don't like it, then he is against it. I think the audience liked it more. I enjoyed getting to learn about players I never knew of and them having a chance in winning.

I liked Swiss format. I never watch the early games with the non-top players, but this time I watched almost every game and had a great time. I learned a lot about so many players that I never heard of. The swiss bracket graphic that was put on the stream made it very easy to understand. Not sure if secondary/quad stream is something that could be implemented that would add more time for content..

Swiss is just too goated man. I hope Aiden keeps it for future tournaments. I’m not an avid smash watcher, but it’s just always nicer to have a more ‘accurate’ competitive format no matter how much/little you follow an esport.
@PuzzleBox83 Жыл бұрын
I preferred the Swiss bracket. As someone who hasn't watched much Melee I felt like I got to learn a lot more about many different players I haven't heard of before and started rooting for them. Ludwig needs to give his audience more credit. Seeing the same top 16 players at every tournament isn''t as entertaining.

As a simpleton who only watched the melee tournament because I like the yarnd and have a vague interest in melee, the Swiss bracket was fantastic. Should keep the format or something similar for sure it was hella interesting to follow because of how simple the the format is to understand.

I'm a very casual melee fan, I dont play and I miss most tournaments, I'm at a level where if I get the chance I'll watch a stream with a few cans and have a nice evening to myself. I feel like it could have been an extremely confusing watch if not for the production's extremely informative graphics.

@ghostkill221 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. I think this is the key. Like if you have 32 players or something. And run Double Elim, if Mango, and Leffen both get knocked out day 2? The last day is like... UNWATCHED. Also it's much less stressful and much better gameplay to see MORE people face MORE people. But not as boring as Round Robin,.

As someone who started watching Melee from this pod I do like the swiss format. I think commentators did a really good job explaining people and holding storylines between games. I wouldn't have cared about Salt's games without commentary. I wouldn't have cared about Swift and his Obelisk. The graphic explaining swiss was also really well done IMO. I have faith in whatever you guys do running a tournament in the future though
@ricochico1144 Жыл бұрын
The Obelisk™ was definitely the best part of the stream as a whole

This is the first time I heard of Salt and I doubt she would have been invited to a 16 person bracket (I could be wrong), so I agree. I also learned about many other players. Seeing and hearing about the same 16 Melee players since Ludwig started streaming is less interesting to me anymore.

As someone who wears a hair piece almost 24/7 and doesn't shampoo it, I am now paranoid about the smell. The only time I've noticed the smell was when I get monthly maintenance on it and when they pull it off a massive stench gets released. But theres nothing you can do about that because its all trapped underneath the base so shampooing won't help the soap doesn't get to it. Probably helps that I don't live in a country that is extremely hot and very sedentary so the sweat isn't that bad an issue. Yall probably should have got a mesh base so that the scalp can breathe. Its what I have no and haven't noticed a smell like my old base.

I think Swiss is more hype if you’ve watched any esports in general. Knowing the top players is fun and their matches are almost always hype, but getting the chance to see a player you might not have and see them across multiple matches was a ton of fun and you are able to find non top players who get you excited about the game and the way they play. At least from a content perspective that’s where I land.

I think it’s lame that the bet wasn’t followed through on but I think Slime’s rationale and reasoning the whole time was fair, reasonable, and not in-bad-faith. So don’t think it’s necessarily something for him to feel bad about, as sure he was dumb as he acknowledges, but not intentionally dumb or malicious in his not washing nor any kind of sabotage.

Might be interesting to look into having a side-stream for when fun events come up so there can be content for both the super gamers and casual for fun viewers. You could either put the events on main stream and extra matches on the side stream, or vice versa. And then when the events are over, the matches come back and everything proceeds as normal.
