As a Montanan who has visited LA: it's wild how few things are thrown out of cars at other drivers, how few drunk drivers there are and how little desire there is for blood in the eyes of LA citizens. Traffic in LA is so gentle. Not a moose or ice patch in sight.
@chilibeer3912

It’s funny when they talk about LA drivers freaking out during a light drizzle meanwhile here in Florida a torrential downpour doesn’t dissuade drivers from doing 110 and weaving through traffic with no regard for anyone else’s safety.

I'm often worried that I'm going to have something seriously wrong w/ me & overlook it until it's too late because I have so many symptoms on a continuous basis due to EDS & they're so variable. That's definitely something I hope doesn't end up happening anytime soon - fatigue, pain, headaches, etc are NOT SPECIFIC ENOUGH TO HELP ME. 🙃
@shsl_empath5437
@shsl_empath5437 6 ай бұрын
@@ZijnShayatanica i totally get that bc i have severe hsd (missed criteria for heds by 1 point) as well as 4 other chronic illnesses. symptoms can become so normal that we aren’t aware when it is an emergency. the way i try to do it is i go to urgent care if anything is different from what i have experienced and ik they’ll send me to the hospital if it is an emergency. i’m lucky to be a college student so i can go to the urgent care on campus for pretty cheap compared to other ones. but it definitely can be a struggle to figure it out! something else i use to see if it is an issue worth getting checked out for is if it repeats under specific circumstances. for example, last time i had my period i experienced extreme pain that led to me vomiting from it, that’s never happened before but ik it can happen to some people so my plan is to see a doctor if it becomes a regular thing for me, if it is just once, then it probably is not something worth checking out. i hope this can help you a bit! we gotta be there for each other in the chronic illness community

I cried on the day I found out he had cancer, I’ve been following hank for like half my life, I was so very impressed with the way he handled it and educated people about it throughout the whole process. I think the Greens have really impressive character as individuals and I’m glad that they’ve been in my life. I really did not need Hank dying on me in 2023, glad we get to keep him for a while.

I loved the conversation about feeling rough after a long recording and having to be On for hours. Cause what y’all do is of course a job and you’re allowed to be tired after doing it! I’ve been in office constantly for a training class and being around people and having to be and chatty and friendly all day is so exhausting. I get to the end of the week and don’t want to see anyone or talk or go anywhere. Can’t wait to go back to my hybrid schedule 😅

I don’t know why I’m still so astonished when I see Hank Green in any context that isn’t SciShow. Maybe because I spent so much time in high school binging SciShow and now it’s kind of like that feeling you get when you see your favorite teacher in any context other than the classroom? It’s a fascinating combination of shock and delight and I really should stop being shocked because Hank obviously has a wide range of interests and has become famous enough to go out and play with all the different areas of interest and let us come along for the ride when he wants and that’s pretty awesome

was literally watching this just smiling and nodding along to the banter when Jarvis brought up that they all had the same birthday- and then said friggin May 5th! I have never met someone with my cinco de mayo bday and there they had all three of them together. I got way too excited knowing some of my fav nerdy crushes share my bday, so thanks for that!

My brother died of one of those cancers that you don't get better from. The 5 year prognosis is 4 years. He made it about 3.5. He was young, and fought hard. But I still find hope in all the strides we've made in cancer treatment. Not hope for myself per se. Untreatable cancer runs in my family. I'm fairly certain I'll die young, if not as young as my brother. But as this is progress is made, I have hope that someday, someone won't lose her brother the same way. They won't watch him lose himself before losing him forever. Reminds me that I don't have to see the rewards, for the fight the fight to be worth fighting.

Thank you for understanding our car culture, Hank. I couldn't have said it any better. I've had some really fun moments in traffic (spontaneous dance parties), and generally, if you are using your (auto)body language to signal and assert that you are going to make a left turn with 6 lanes of traffic, people are usually super cool and will spot for you and wave you on when its safe.

It's so weird to hear you guys talk about Kroll and Mulaney and Birbigs before they were famous because that NYC underground comedy scene was such a magical time and so many people came out of that, but its wild to think about people outside of that bubble looking in when it was just a bunch of people doing $5 comedy shows in the East Village and LES. First time I ever saw Nick do stand up, no one clapped for him so he proceeded to thank the audience sarcastically for 7 straight minutes. I miss those days so much.

Just to mention - in the UK you don't have to get your license in a manual (stick shift I think Americans call it), but if you don't then you are only allowed to drive automatics. The vast majority of people get a manual license, including me despite every car I've owned being an automatic
