People who badmouth kettlebells are totally clueless. Sorry..I am not as nice as Lebe Stark. In 2003 I was a brand new Army LT and stationed in Germany. I met Estonian soldiers who were using kettlebells. Dudes were absolute animals. The taught me the basics and to this day I use them 4-5 days a week to stay in amazing shape.

I'm a 55 year old man who used to be a body builder, weight lifter, power lifter a great many moons ago. I had been doing simple home workouts since about April 2024. Just 2 weeks ago I wanted to increase my workouts a bit and saw the kettle bell being used in some vids. Did some homework on it. Read about it, found your channel, and I've been learning from your vids since. In my short time of working with the KB, aside from temporary mild soreness for a couple of days, I have felt an instant gain in strength , in mobility, and in cardio endurance. I have a lot to learn and with the KB, and I'm excited. Thanks for your channel. I found what I was looking for.

I feel that kettlebells have only made me safer from injury. I do swings daily for months at a time and I distinctly notice the rises and dips in core stability. I'm watching this now tired after playing with my nieces and nephews in the snow all day. I feel comfortable picking them up and tossing them into piles of snow despite them weighing anywhere from 30 to 80 pounds BECAUSE of kettlebells and I have the cardio thanks to kettlebells as well to play just as hard as the kids do.

Kettlebells give you the most effective training for general physical preparedness (GPP). Bodybuilding fills a specific niche within fitness. Nine out of ten people who work most of their daily life need a cheap, reliable, time-efficient way to keep their shape. Doing 10 minutes of two-handed kettlebell swings five days a week will improve your skeletal structure, your cardiovascular health, your hip strength, improved grip, etc.. etc.. I totally agree with you that this is the way most people should train. IMO the bodybuilding community is overreaching their judgement about something they have zero experience with and never bothered to learn from all those 'science-based' lifting papers (as if they are commonly credible) by applying it to a new tool. Living in a closed world where only dumbells barbells and cables exist. "Every man should bench his weight" some say that and I couldn't disagree more. Every man should have the ability to stand up straight, which is exactly what kettlebells does for the body. Keep doing what you're doing, I will support you soon!

When I pointed out that literally those two things are defining features of our species and there correlated performance gains have been noted for at least two hundred years (or, actually forever but I was trying to work with small numbers) he just deflected and moved on to another revelation. i think you're very knowledgeable about kettlebell training. you show that with your videos and the success of your channel. in defense of the guy debating with you, i think it's a natural response for somebody to defend their livelihood. i disagree with your point that he is arrogant for saying that. he also mentioned that pavel has severe shoulder issues, presumably from his kettlebell training. i don't know if that is fact or fiction, but it sounds reasonable to me. and, pavel is pretty much who outsiders like me identify with kettlebell training. so, incorporating pavel into his argument might make people question this mode of training. i did watch the other guy's first video, but not his response back to you. i wrenched my back doing kettlebell swings, so i stopped doing them, but i also do bodyweight training. kettlebells are not off my menu for future training, i am open to the idea that my form wasn't particularly good, or that as a beginner i was doing too much volume. people that like kettlebells and your channel are probably not going to abandon either.

I had a Personal Trainer tell me, "Kettlebells are terrible for you...." full stop...and when I asked why, "Ballistics" was the only thing he could reply with...and those of us who use them know that is the best part. :) You obviously can hurt yourself with any fitness program when you go too aggressive too fast or have poor form. Recently, I had my annual physical, and my Dr. told me Pickel ball and Crossfit are way over HALF his sports injuries right now for anyone over 40. Pickel Ball specifically because people who do not have a good level of GPP are tearing themselves apart with lateral movements they are not conditioned for. Crossfit because they have poor form and attempt to "push" past exhaustion and break form or overtrain. He discussed WEIRD injuries like Latissiumus Dorsi/Serratus muscles and shoulder tears from "Kipping" pull-ups as very common.

You skimmed over an interesting bit of info regarding physics. Is there anything about what the force generated by a kettlebell is equivalent to in weight? Like a 16kg is always that weight but when you swing it gravity is making it feel way heavier. Just curious and thank you for the videos.
@viktoria.p.7773 күн бұрын
It depends on the force you produce in your hips and the velocity of the kettle bell going up. Going down would be the same, because you only drop the kettle bell down. There you can use the equation of a simple fall downwards. Swinging with a 16 kg after a 24kg is easy and you can see that you swing much faster, because you use the same force (produced by your hips) in order to swing less mass (16 kg instead of 24). Less weight results in an increase in velocity. Your body has the level and is trained to produce that impulse. So when you swing: the velocity increases and the mass multiplied by the increased velocity is greater. Means the impulse is greater. Impulse is mass multiplied by velocity. When you start with a heavier kettle bell, you swing much slower, because you can't produce the same impulse. Better said, you need much more power in order to make the kettle bell swing with a greater speed. Gravity downwards doesn't make the kettle bell heavier. It's your hinging of the hips towards the horizontal. You produce force to overcome gravity so that the bell starts swinging. You feel the force in your hands. That is the moment when the kettle bell feels much heavier than it really is. Until it arrives at the highest point and doesn't feel heavy at all and then drops down. Before it drops down there is a moment when the bell pulls you still a little bit forward. This is the rest of the impulse. But at the highest point the bell has zero velocity and zero impulse. Then it drops down. And you can use the impulse of the kettle bell when it comes down, it's called Russias hinge, where you don't stop the move abruptly, but make a hinge backwards with your hip and redirect the bell in the opposite swing up towards your center. The answer depends on many things.

As a 50 year old male I think you should just ignore this guy. Before I started using kettlebells I was looking at kettlebell exercises on YT and I was thinking the same as this dude but only because I had not tried kettlebells yet and had no knowledge. I started carefully and with relatively low weights and I found out it was intense (HITT) and gave me benefits after a couple of weeks (have bad joints) and had no injuries at all. There were some exercises that were not working for me but that was obvious at the first tried and I quit doing them. The claim about fast movements are really bullshit. I must say the fast exercises gave me the least discomfort and were a good HITT training. I think this guys is only posting videos like this to get into the picture to boost his channel!
