Dropped in to say the same: that's probably the sixth time I've seen Ben knows exactly what he's doing and working through it, everyone takes notice and tells him what he already knows -- guy is a Saint, he listens as they try to figure it out to where he already is and then says, "yeah, you are right that's what I should do," and then gets back to work with a smile

As a millwright it was fun to see a sawmill foreman come in the shop to see "if" we were busy. It always turned into a soapstone drawing on the table, bearing part numbers and the end result was always .010 thrust with 24 gauge shim. The look of wonder was the icing on the cake as the "boss' left shaking his head after listening for 5 minutes.

I remember my dad welding the rear end in an old truck we had, we went through many vehicles but the rear end was under all of them. Never did do the front end since they were usually daily drivers. Poor man’s locker but you can’t argue that it works.

@fabrats I worked for a guy that taught me to just add shims to whatever side needed it. Rather than pulling both carrier bearings and moving shims. I thought he was crazy till I did it. Works great!

When I had my shop I was always ordering parts weeks in advance then spending hours looking for them and wondering if I really did order it, finally I got a little smarter and started having my wife/boss inventory boxes when they were delivered and log everything in a notebook, we had a parts rack with numbered spaces, part X was in bin 3, man did that make life so much easier, of course I could never point fingers if I'd forgot to order something!

Another good vid getting Ben's Jeep back on the trail after beating it up at "Hammers". Where's Michelle been? Does she have her own channel now? I noticed she hasn't been on much after Hunter started and I wondered if they had a falling out or disagreement. The same for Darr except he was on a little bit today. Those shimmed Danas are a PITA! All our Fort Myers Beach Trams have them, Dana 60s, and I've rebuilt them all a bunch of times. But I have a box of ground down races for the pinion. Its the shims in the diff housing that is the real fight. Then getting the pattern. Then they tow 2 trailers in 4 low, powered by a 5.9 cummins mid engine, reversed. They weren't designed for stop and go traffic, but that's where they get used. Finally one blew right through the case. I'm like get a 4x4 heavy duty rock crawler rear end with disc brakes, so this won't happen again. $6k later the tram is still going that got the new rear end. But then we got hit with Hurricane Ian, and the beach got totally destroyed😪😪😪

Poor Man's Locker aka a Lincoln Locker. A lot of guys call them Lincoln Lockers because Lincoln welders were used to get it done. Lots of those have been done with old Lincoln Tombstone stick welders.
