@@JediMB Yeah, 1987 Doofus basically only existed as that show's foil/target for fat jokes or jokes like "LOL LOOK HOW MUCH HE EATS!". To me, it felt like 1987 Webby resulted from the showrunners going down a "what grown men think little girls are" checklist (which included): 1. Girls always wear pink. 2. Girls are whiny and annoying in the eyes of boys. 3. Girls only ever play with dolls and have tea parties. 4. Girls are always super friendly with animals. Also, the showrunners of the 2017 reboot said to watch the 1987 "Ducktales" episode "Super Doo" as a reason for why as kids they disliked OG Doofus. To be fair, that episode alone would probably be enough to garner at least some resentment towards the character.

Dewey and Webby are like the siblings ever, lol, their misadventures are a lot of fun. Webby said in the episode she always wanted siblings and really all of the triplets are good siblings to her, and that's clearly very important to her. It's a cute scene. I like this episode a lot, it's characterized them in fun ways.

Launchpad really is a lot like Kronk. He's a lovable goofball but he can be surprisingly competent. In the original series, Doofus Drake was a friend of the triplets, fellow Junior Woodchuck, and often Launchpad's sidekick. He was good-hearted, well-intentioned, and had a strong moral compass, but clumsy, cowardly, and dim-witted. He was constantly eating or complaining about being hungry; his main purpose to the plot was to be the target of fat jokes (some of his nicknames were "Fatso", "Chubbo", and "Little Lardo"). He had a bit of a crush on Webbie, and the two of them were married in the episode where Scrooge was transported 40 years into the future by Magicka. Doofus mainly appeared in the first season of the show, and was dropped from the series during the second season after the introduction of Fenton Crackshell and Bubba the Cave Duck. According to Frank Angones, they made Doofus a villain in the reboot because they didn't like him in the original show, and because they wanted someone to act as a foil to Louie on the way money can ruin a person. They modeled him roughly after Anthony Fremont, the villainous boy in the famous Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life", about an omnipotent boy who became a selfish monster who got whatever he wanted because nobody could tell him "no".

Idk if you caught that but Doofus made his parent's into a butler and servant. That rich little shit got a huge inheritance from his grandma (Gamemama) and went nuts, when his parents tried to step in to make him not crazy they couldn't and so Doofus just made them serve him.

So Webby doesn't have parents because she's not really Granny's granddaughter. She's actually Della Duck. On a mission to find the Fountain of Youth, something went wrong and Della reverted to an egg. Granny raised her as her own, but she doesn't have the memories of her former life.

Funny thing in the OG Ducktales Huey, Duey, and Luella were all exactly the same with the only thing separating their cloth’s colors, one of the many reasons why this is one of the few reboots that’s better then the original

Luella? 😄 But yeah, all the way back to the original comics, actually, the triplets were essentially a single character split in three bodies. There's some subtle personality differences between them in some stories, but only when interacting with each other, to the outside world they are always a unit. This show took those subtle differences and cranked them up to eleven.

What always gets me is that Dewey is the one who pushed so hard for an Only Child day, but he couldn't think of any other guests for his show than his brothers. I'm not sure if that's heartwarming or just proof of how much Dewey did not think this through.

Out of all the supporting characters, Doofus has changed the most. In the original show, he was this clumsy kid who loved candy. Doofus is probably the only rebooted character whom I'd have preferred if they hadn't made a new version of an old character, since he has literally nothing in common with his older iteration other than name and design, and there aren't really any callbacks or interesting implications from it. I get they didn't want to actually include old Doofus in the reboot, but they could have made new Doofus an original character like Mark Beaks.

Old Fogey time: Doofus Drake was a character from the old Duck Tales, but...fans pretty much hated him. He was supposed to be this geeky, nerdy...doofus...audience child insert character that clearly showed the writers didn't know much about how kids project themselves into these stories *as seen with most of this type of character*. He was an annoying third wheel (in a group that already had three kids and a webby *who audiences also didn't care for but at least got the toughen up treatment for this show*). So yeah, the writers clearly decided to work out some issues by making him less bumbling *oh no my popsicle got stuck to my shirt, my whole personality is an i'm an overweight tag along who asked too many questions and gets in the way* to creepy weirdo spoiled brat.

This episode got screwed over by its own promo, which used deceptive editing to indicate somehow reality had changed so they really weren't brothers anymore. So naturally a lot of fans felt let down when they saw the real story, even though that's not the crew's fault at all.
