Sam confirmed Lestat does not want to be there and I saw that in his face, tone of voice and posture too. The truth peaks through even in Armand’s version of events.

I interpreted that scene with Louis and Armand a lot differently. When Armand asks "are you asking me or making me?" that's a game they play when he's feeling conflicted about a decision and wants Louis to take command. But Louis could see that any decision would be a conflict for Armand, so he says, "It's ok". This isn't the time for games

This. All of this. The scene makes complete sense if you're familiar with how BDSM dynamics work... Armand didn't want to have to make a decision and so he left the decision-making up to Louis but yeah you're absolutely correct... Louis realized that this WASN'T a moment for them to be playing that type of game. I don't think their dynamic necessarily extends very far outside of the bedroom but they definitely dip their toes in it, as that scene suggests. And we know Armand and Daniel eventually have like a 24/7 more TPE BDSM dynamic which absolutely does expand outside the bedroom.... I'm honestly not sure if the show is going to portray their dynamic book accurately if we ever get to that point...it's a pretty extreme form of BDSM and definitely isn't super palatable like the dynamic we're seeing Louis and Armand have.... I've seen a couple of reactors misinterpret the scene and I just have to assume that they just don't understand the game of push and pull that Armand and Louis are engaging in.... Cuz I don't know... I caught on IMMEDIATELY what was going down between the dynamic shift that happened within that scene. You can see the moment that Louis drops his like "pimp dom Louis" persona... And then Armand apologizes for not being able to make the decision himself and also for not wanting to be there. And then Louis just immediately jumps to reassure Armand that he's not upset. He WANTS Armand to be there but it's also okay that Armand doesn't want to be there. It's ONE of my favorite scenes of the episode tbh. I think it's a really beautiful kind of heartwarming scene. Brilliantly acted.

I noticed the puzzled look on Alex’s face when Raglan James says “if I had you’re body...” That’s a reference to the book “The Tale of the Body Thief”, in which he plays a very prominent role. 🙂

For those of us in the know about Tale of the Body Thief, doesn't real Rashid look a lot like how the young man Raglan James body thieved is described? May just be a coincidence, and I may be looking too much into it, but he looks a lot like the guy whose body James takes.

There is a trial in the book, and Lestat is there, however there's no trial in the 1994 film, and Lestat doesn't go to Paris at all in the film.

They filmed it, but it's not in the film. There are pics of a desheveled Tom Cruise-Lestat for the trial, but it didn't make the final cut. In the orignal script by Anne Rice, he is not quite aware of what is happening. Doesn't seem to be the case here. I'm SO excited for next week.

My theory is Madeleine felt Lestat through Louis and this is why it makes sense that she said why do you never tell him how much you love him? Because we saw Louis told Armand he loved him, but he never said that to Lestat and it was a huge regret for him as portrayed in several Dreamstat moments. And it only makes sense she would feel Lestat through Louis and not Armand because they share a bloodline. P.S. I wrote it and you just said it too. Lol. ❤

This episode was tough because I love Claudia so much and am such an Armand apologist. Also to answer ur question since we’ve reached this far into the story, (so no spoilers just confirmation) yes, Lestat was at the trial in the book. I actually really loved that twist in the novel. Idk why they never included it the movie version. Maybe short on time since it was a movie.

This show keeps reminding me of things I had forgotten from the books. I had forgotten that Armand had never made a fledgling before. The first vampire he eventually made was actually Daniel. If an older vampire doesn't make other fledglings, when they eventually do make one, that vampire will usually be powerful. It's like the gift is less diluted. That's part of the reason Lestat was so powerful. The fact that the coven are holding this "trial" during the day is ominous. I wouldn't be surprised if Lestat doesn't even want to be there. This isn't about justice for breaking the rules, but more about the petty slites and jealousies of the coven. If it were truly about breaking the laws, Lestat himself would be on trial for making Claudia (a child) into a vampire.

@@RedMenace71 yeah, I never consider that, accept when it's something obvious. I don't see anything in it that's too much of a spoiler, besides possibly the part of Daniel becoming Armands fledgling. Although, I don't think they will include that in the series since Louis already offered Daniel the gift and Daniel turned it down. This isn't the young Daniel from the books who accepted the offer. This is old Daniel who is too wise to do that.

If I remember correctly … Lestat comes back to Paris for the trail aiming to save Louis and give up Claudia. However, his plan backfires and they’re both sentenced to death. Armand ends up saving Louis. And Louis cannot forgive Lestat for not trying to save Claudia and that’s why he runs off with Armand. It’s in the vampire Lestat books where we learn that Lestat was still too weak to fight off the Paris coven and couldn’t save them though he tried.

Armand's vindictive, controlling and cruel. He's actively punishing Louis for being in love with their shared ex. He wants Claudia dead not because Louis and Lestat broke some dumb coven rules, but because she's a living testament of their love.

This Lestat isn't true Lestat because Armand imprisoned him in dungeon all this time & manipulate him and forced him to be at the trial to testify that Claudia killed him with a promise to let Louis alive, it was kinda sad because in fact Lestat did love Claudia, we just haven't met the real Lestat yet, not from Louis or Armand POV but real Lestat which from the spoiler will finally appear at the last episode, we will get to know about who is the real Lestat and I guess it will be a prologue for S3 which is gonna be the adaptation for The Vampire Lestat book after IWTV book ends

And then the descent into that hideous cellar full of ugly copies of the bloodiest paintings of Goya and Brueghel and Bosch. And finally starvation as I lay on the floor of a brick-lined cell, unable even to shout curses at him, the darkness full of the vibrations of the passing omnibuses and tramcars, penetrated again and again by the distant screech of iron wheels. Sometime in the dark, I discovered a mortal victim there. But the victim was dead. Cold blood, nauseating blood. The worst kind of feeding, lying on that clammy corpse, sucking up what was left. And then Armand was there, standing motionless in the shadows, immaculate in his white linen and black wool." Assad mentioned that when Armand was caught erasing Louis’s memories, he immediately started working on a new manipulation tactic. Trying to convince Louis that he’d asked for his memory to be erased was just another manipulation tactic. I ADORE Armand, but he is the master when it comes to shit like this. He’s so damn good at making himself out to be innocent, to be the victim, especially when he’s done something horrific.

No, Louis does Love Armand it is a mutually shared love in the relationship, Madeline was feeling that intense love he has but Louis has always withheld love from his partners as a way to hold power. It is different than Lestat and Louis but that doesn't make it less than. Not specifically with you guys I just think it is weird how people speak about this relationship because it seems like they are watching the show but only retaining things that they think validate them even when the line before or after contradicts it.

The trial was in both IwtV and The Vampire Lestat, but not in detail. Lestat was present for both. **BOOK SPOILERS** In IwtV, Lestat seems to be one of the people pushing for Claudia to be punished for trying to kill him. In TVL, we find out that Armand had imprisoned, starved and tortured Lestat leading up to the trial while he courts Louis. Armand forces Lestat to testify against Claudia during the trial. But they don’t go into detail about what happens in the trial itself in either book.

When people said Louis is mean to Armand in ep 5, well Louis should be meaner tbh. Armand always gaslighting Louis even use the maitre or sub/dom thing so he could manipulate Louis, makes Louis thinking he could lead the relationship but at the end, Armand always have the power over Louis, he is the ancient vampire, the power imbalance is always there, he makes plan to kill Claudia because he wanted Louis for himself, he didn’t want to make Madeleine because he knows if his blood in her body, she will be so strong like him, it will be hard to get rid of her too. The one that wants the equality in the relationship with Louis is Lestat. Lestat never show his power to Louis like flying because he wants him to feel equal eventough later on when they fight, Lestat unleashes it. But Armand likes to play victim, said he could not prevent the trial when he could make all the coven members fell aslep when Santiago & Louis arguing before. I don’t know how people fall for Armand’s trap like Anne Rice literally wrote him as the antagonist one until book 6 when she wrote about Vampire Armand and make his character having more nuance.

17:56 you being really bored of the play made me laugh out loud... A LOT of the dialogue in the play is like direct quotes from the book of stuff that Loui and Lestat have said about mortality and vampirism 🤣🤣🤣 some book readers were kind of upset about how much characters in the show slag off the play... because I guess they feel like it is slagging off Annes words a bit... But I do have to agree with you the play was boring in the show ... You can write beautiful paragraphs of text and STILL have it be boring when it's performed in a certain way, ya know? Monologues can be beautiful AND drag on too long. Lmao.

I’m still not happy about Claudia and Madeline cause Claudia’s whole tragedy was the she is a woman on a little girls body. They are suggesting they are romantic but yet don’t mention Claudia’s situation. It get glossed over and to me it’s uncomfortable cause we are lead to believe everyone in the show sees Claudia as a little girl but yet we the audience see that the actor looks older the 14, so how do I was I viewer believe her tragedy if in moments like this it’s not mentioned. Idk if I make sense but it’s something that bothered me since the first time I saw the episode.
@jayp9881

To a certain extent it doesn't need to be mentioned at every turned especially when it's been mentioned several times over. Madeline her self has noted the lack in change with Claudia's body in previous interaction and now she has divulged her true nature to madeline allowingbher to make connections we have already made. She's literally reading Claudia's diaries explaining her experience allowing Madeline to understand a situation already expressed several times already. Also the point is that Madeline looks past who Claudia appears to be in regards to the state of her body but rather appreciates her for her which is the answer to Claudia's tragedy. I think it's perfect that they don't shove that aspect down our throats because the point of Madeline is that there relationship goes beyond that whether it becomes romantic or not. Madeline had a void of loneliness and lacking that Claudia helps complete and Claudia feels trapped and constantly misunderstood which is a problem Madeline solves.
