Beautiful Song Mickey, My Dad would be 85 this year, Unfortunately I lost him 53 years ago, He was just 32 years old, Father of 5 children. This was 1969, I was only 3 when the Lord took him home early. So never had the opportunity to have the countless conversations with him over the years, One would think at my age of 56, I wouldn’t need a father, But all the things we could have done together when I was a child or talks or advice I could have benefited from as a teenager, etc…. None of which never happened. Glad my mom, also 85 is still with us & doing well, and equally glad she has my stepdad, but he never wanted to me much of a father to me as I grew up. He’s been a pretty good granddad to my children & nieces & nephews, So I give thanks for that as well. But surely miss my father after all these years. God has blessed you brother with a musical talent & writing ability.

Wow. Thanks for this. My dad was a decorated combat medic WW2, I’m his 4th of 5 sons, he died of pancreatic cancer at 51. A hero right up til the end. Again, thank you….

I'm the oldest of the 5 kids my dad and mom brought into this world. Around 3:14 today April 4,2024 I heard this song for the first time. It got me right in the heart. Haven't stopped listening to it. On the 14 of December 2023 our Dad moved on. Damn I miss him so much. Loved it when he played his guitar. Everyone did. Family and friends. Always a good time when Dad played music. Always. This song here makes me think of him so much. I miss him. Damn how I miss him. We all do. My Pops showed me how to throw a football. How to kick a football. Showed me how to protect myself when I fought. To always keep my hands up covering my face. Elbows to protect my body. Let me drive at 11 when mom didn't want him to let me drive. So many memories. It hurts to know that he's moved on. Love You Dad. We Miss You 😔 I'll see you again someday. You and Mom. I believe it. I'm 37 years old. Daddy's been gone home since Christmas eve night of 2009 and I still hurt for daddy. Same thing with mama. She's literally been dead longer than I had with her living. She died when I was 13. Growing up without them here is hard. I have sadness on happy days that they should be here ....birthdays, Christmas, graduation etc so I just pray that I'm making them proud of me. ❤ If I can be half of that impact on my daughters life I think that would be a great job. I sure had two of the best parents ever

Maybe they do , but just don't know how to show it, some kids display love outwardly, some it's not easy to show it, I was blessed with 2 sons and ad daughter that very openly displayed there love, other members of my family don't openly show affection. Everyone is different, don't beat yourself up thinking they don't, give them an opportunity to show you in their own way, and ask God's help too, He can help you. Hang in there bud.

I know the pain of losing 2 of the most important people in your life, I'm almost 73 and sitting here with tears in eyes, I know most of my days are behind me , dont know how many more are left, but everyday I have left will be a day of missing them , but I believe I will see them again when The Lord calls me home.

I was brought up with my dad having to hold ship at night as my mum worked late. Tales of having my dummy dipped in beer as he listened to Beefheart and the tapes he made of me and my now late sister as children are precious memories. Sadly I am now his carer due to Alzheimer’s but as the song says....”he’s still my dad.😌

So with all that said to anyone who has the chance to see their father that has a relationship at all weather dad pray that you never put it off when you have the opportunity.. because it will bothering me for a long long time I know my dad didn't hold it against me I don't know that but coming from my own heart.. I just hurt and miss him so regret that for the rest of my life.... When I know I could have said years made that trip... So like I said man have you any kind of son at all and you had that kind of bond with your dad do everything you can and make that trip. I just found out Mr. Mickey is from RI, I would've bet anything he was from Texas lol I don't think of RI when I hear someone with his voice and depth of soul lol but I guess it's not where you live but how you live that makes music like his. I normally don't leave comments. But also lost my dad over a year ago. He wasn't is it always will be my best. Sadly I didn't get to see him before he passed. I waited too long and then it's time he got got sick didn't see him seven years we talked we were best friends always got along my dad so I had a pretty rough time when I know there were times I should have and could have went to see him when I was able to.
