I trained my pits to relax their bite during play by saying "ooooowwwww" and pretend I'm going to cry. Very soft so they know they hurt you. Not loud or dramatic. It's worked great with any roughness training and setting boundaries.

Princess Nala taught Herc to be a gentleman, being on his best behavior and to be gentle. Herc taught Bruno respect, boundaries and consequences. Now Bruno is teaching Herc how to play, be silly, and relax. Isnt it cool to watch the growth between the dogs personalities. They're going to be fierce friends, someday. ❤

I have had 7 goldens and two bullmastiffs only one had been a land shark. That would be my golden now ,Phin. He was determined to be the boss. After about 8 grueling months he stopped nipping me. I have the scars he left me with. Now his mouth is so gentle he can carry water balloons and never pop one of them. He also can carry two raw eggs and never break them. It wad all worth it.😊

Kyle, don't beat yourself up with the bird accidents and Bruno. It will take him till he's about 2 /2.5 yrs old to fully come into his brain. Just continue to be consistent with him and his e collar and he will continue to learn what he can and can't do. I always trained my puppies living in the city with a 4 foot leash attached to them unless they were in their crates. That way if they were doing something that I didn't want them to do it wasn't a game of chase to get a correct at the time of the offense. Both Herc and Bruno are different temperments and will learn differently. ❤

Had a pit heeler cross. That was a whole lot like Bruno, Buddy was his name. Buddy used to "love" things to death. He didn't try to kill them he was just rough. The good news, Buddy lived to 15 before I had to put him down for spinal stenosis. The bad news that I feel I should share, those guys don't mature until 2. Just about the time you think you got em trained they turn back to a puppy. Once they turn 2 they don't come untrained and you couldn't ask for a better dog. I miss buddy. Just remember consistency and patience are your best friends.

My goodness can’t get over how Herc and Bruno met at the gate. I remember at one time nobody other than Kyle and Shannon can get to that gate and her work would be OK with that but no one else could get near it. Oh I definitely see a friendship building between the two of them takes time but It’ll work . and it just takes time some get together real quick and be friends of theirs. It takes a while but keep up the good work and eventually they’ll be at that stage where the OK with everything as far as your Ginny birds I will quote a comment that a family I follow uses every time something happens or a bird gets lost because of one thing or another. and there’s a loss of life lol whatever happens on the farm, but they would say when things go south and the bird is lost. It is farm life is habit I experience from life all the time.😢

Bruno was bitey because he didn't have his mom and siblings to tell him biting is not nice. But then again, my Rhodesian Ridgeback had her mom and 12 siblings and she still bite me when she was a baby but stopped when her adult teeth came in. RRs are really bad about niping when they are babies...that is the number 1 complaint about them.

Some trainers will put a wood block on a collar (the same size as the E collar). To let them think they have it on. IDK May I ask why you don't mix the wet dog food with the dry dog food? The goats would most likely not like it and Herc may it the dry better. Again IDK.

I was always so lucky with my dogs. The older dogs were so gentle with new puppies and helped teach them. It would crack me up when they had enough the paw came down and held them in place. Never had anyone get hurt. I was very lucky.

Hang in there with Bruno. I think a lot of it is him being a puppy. I have an English Springer Spaniel/Great Pyrenees mix. As a puppy, he unalived several of my chickens. It’s the chase, that as a puppy, that’s just so hard to resist. My buddy is now 3 and it’s been a long time since he’s had a “mistake”. He will even go in the run with me and just walk around with them. It took a lot of consistent “no’s”, but most of all, just his maturity. Just keep up the good work and be patient.
