I wish everyone could be as fortunate as you guys. You have eachother, you appear to be financially well off and secure, you have a close knit family, you have been able to face the demons in your life and come through it with your ability to love, trust, laugh and hope in tact. Your strength is an inspiration to me helping to pull me out of what I now realize as my very own private pity party for one. Maybe I am not ready to give up on life just yet. Dona, We never know what life is going to bring us around the corner. There was a time when my first husband was murdered that one week we had to live off of my daughters paper route money. Because I have had hard times in my life I never forget how hard it is to struggle and survive. But one thing I do know that we are given the strength to survive and nothing is forever. As long as we are here on this earth there is a chance for us to make a better life for ourselves. A very early happy 70th birthday to you. Embrace going into a new decade and never give up on life. I am a perfect example of what can be done if you believe you deserve it. Blessings your way❤️

Hey guys!! Arthur my Mom is 94 and will be 95 Christmas eve and she is going strong. As a matter of fact, she is upgrading her kitchen as we speak. I just ordered her an inversion table to add to her workout routine. Cheers to you both!! 💛

You remind me of my aunt-she would work in her beautiful gardens for hours-dressed as tho she was going out for the day! I don’t know how she did it! All my memories of her she was dressed like a proper lady-everything had to match from head to toe and she always wore makeup-just the right amount:) She had acres of flowers when she lived in CA and beautiful gardens when she moved to a smaller home in FL. It is so devastating to see these thugs tear up and burn our country. My dad, a WW II vet, would probably want to get out and fight them. How can we allow our beautiful country, home of the brave, land of the free, be torn down. Sandra, I know you are so proud of Emerson. Arthur is a very lucky man. When all of those young men way back when when chose to give their lives for freedom and to leave this country and to go to other shores to do so, he can’t understand why they don’t appreciate the freedoms that they have today and a wonderful life they have. Well, there are a lot of issues today that can cause depression between the world events and Covid it seems like there’s not very good news to hear. The only thing we can do is to try each and every day when we wake up is to find one thing. Even if it’s a very small ray of positivity in our lives. Maybe just loving the taste of your coffee in the morning. Believe it or not if you try to start with a positive mindset it will grow during the day. If you feel like it’s chronic depression and maybe has nothing to do with outside events, perhaps you can talk to your physician and he/ she might be able to help you out. I’ll be thinking of you.❤️

My dad was a WWII bombardier, also from the Bronx, also no job after the war, took his old shoe shine box to Manhattan to shine shoes after serving his country. He was lucky enough to be one of the first 10 vets to be selected to go to the Bulova Watchmaking School in Queens that General Bradley had just opened . God Bless the Greatest Generation! The entitled generation is clueless.

why always bashing the younger generations? the war people did what they had to do to survive. if there would be a war now who can say if the people today wouldn't do what they have to do to survive, too? maybe even better than the people back then. there were plenty opportunities to end the war earlier and in a different way but because of certain decisions it took so long and caused more suffering. also the same people started it in the first place. at least the 'cluesless' generations after were able to keep peace for decades (talking in Europe) there are good and not so good people everywhere, don't generalize. anyway, thank you for your service, sir. this coming from someone who fled war, too

Nancy, There is a reason they call Arthur and his peers the greatest generation, because they were. I think those veterans that are still alive today feel that so many of the young people today are taking for granted the wonderful life that we have here in the United States and the freedoms that they have because of the greatest generation and their sacrifice. Did your dad also have that wonderful Bronx accent!? How lucky he was to be chosen to go into the Bulova watch making company. When I was 13 my parents got me a Bulova watch and I still have it today.❤️

Arazhul I’m not bashing the younger generation at all. I see many young people doing the right thing which gives me hope for our future. However the fact remains that many have been brought up to not have any personal responsibility and blame others for their problems. Their parents have given them too much, protected them too much, and solved their problems for them, so they have no coping skills, or problem solving skills as adults in the real world. These are the kids in the “entitled” generation. I was a “baby boomer”and my kids are now their bosses and even they see the difference in their attitude and work ethic. The “greatest generation “ were adults at 18 now we are prolonging childhood to 30 and we are not doing them a favor. God bless ❤️

Life Over Sixty With Sandra Awe! That is wonderful that you still have that watch. I have a wrist watch and lapel watch my dad gave my mother when they were dating. They met at Bulova, and were married in 1947. Yes, he did have the accent😄. It’s funny, someone gave my dad his card for the Bulova school while he was shinning shoes, just like Arthur said. I think he told me they thought he would be a good candidate because he had knowledge of timing mechanisms, being a bombardier. I guess if he was home in his parents basement instead of out hustling he might not of had that opportunity🤣.🇺🇸

My Uncle was in WWII and got shot down with George W. Bush when on a mission. His name was Leo Nadeau. He married my aunt and they bought a piece of land for $300.00 and proceeded to build their first home. My aunt told me he joined the Navy when he was 16, got his GED when he got out and then read every book he could to learn how to build their home cuz he told her it was the only way he could educate himself. They were married for over 50 years and he was a very successful builder-he built my aunt 3 homes in their lifetime from the bottom up! They were so in love and sadly he died many years b4 her but they lived the most interesting life of anyone I know:)

Thank heavens he probably also can’t remember your age, either. Whenever I have a birthday the day after Arthur always tells me I’m a year older. In other words, I’m going to be 82 in a few months and as soon as that birthday is over the next day he will tell me I’m 83 now!! ❤️

I would like to share with you & Arthur, that a few months ago; I was driving through a neighborhood town, 2 towns away from my Native town. I saw a sign, Birdhouses For Sale & OF COURSE I STOPPED!! I met the gentleman, Tony, & his daughter. The birdhouses are beautiful, Tony makes them. Since, I have been back 3 times. I purchased a few more for my yard & some for neighbors & friends. I sat with Tony for almost an hour each time. He told very interesting stories. He asked me to guess his age. Oh my!!! He doesn't look a minute over 65ish! He told me he was born in 1922 & is 98 years old!! 💖💖 He is AMAZING! Arthur is as well, & he will pass 110 😊😊. Have a Wonderful day, all day long. Continue to enjoy each other 😽😽😽. ☺☺😎😎

Elle, That cruise was so much fun. He and Mark McGrath are now friends and he texts to him once in awhile. I am a type A personality and I’m busy all the time, but I’m not a fidgeter.. Arthur honestly drives me crazy, but I know it has a lot to do with why he is still here. So my advice to you is to embrace Mark’s fidgeting because you know it will help him live longer! It’s been 36 years and I’m still trying to take my own advice about that!!❤️.

hello Sandra! I first found you and watched your make up videos when I was very depressed and looking for anything about older women to make me feel better. I was a single mom of six who put herself through college and served in a criminal justice career for nearly 25. Retirement has been a difficult transition in some ways. You and your husband are true gems! Yes, he is quite a character and so much like Larry David. You are such a graceful, classy woman, yet very down-to-earth.
