I didn't know how important the CBC and Peter were in my life til 911, I was in my way to Toronto for. afternoon of fun and when I heard the news I had to RUN literally to the CBC building to get the real news and hear Peter telling me the truth. Thank you Peter you are what a true Canadian should act in public and in pvt. I will miss my evening voice of reason, but I am sure Peter has laid the ground work for an AMAZING new crew.

I wholeheartedly agree. 9/11 was the biggest crucible of journalistic integrity and relevance in my lifetime, and the CBC provided the best coverage and analysis anywhere on North American television. And I can't think of a better example of Peter's "sense of gravity and grace" (as Ron McLean put it).

I haven't been alive a day yet where Peter Mansbridge wasn't hosting The National. Regardless of what he was reporting or how, he was a constant in my world and it will be bittersweet to have him move onto something else. Best of luck Peter!

Thank-you, Mr. Mansbridge, for your hard work and dedication, in delivering the news. It just tells you how brilliant you are as an anchor, when the CBC needs anchors to replace you. You will be missed.

So sorry to see him go. What a consistently quality broadcast The National is. He reminds me of another great Canadian newsman named Peter - Jennings. Not really a higher compliment than that. Mind you I didn't even grow up watching Mansbridge - I'm American, but have friends and family in Canada so have caught The National when visiting and have long admired its quality and lack of junk, sensationalized reporting (though I wish they would stop covering Trump so much.) Anyway, thank you, Peter. You will be missed. Enjoy the crap out of your retirement.

How come posts on The National on KZbin are always disabled? For a publicly funded company seems wee bit Orwellian censorship.
