You can always use hay instead of blankets. Unroll a few big bales over it while it cures. Will help keep it moist that way, too.

Sawdust works to insulate the concrete as well. Or a thick layer of straw. We did that on a ton of concrete we poured at our place this fall when it was below freezing.

Put the calf back on her. Baby is always the most efficient milking machine! When humans have problems with breastfeeding, there are few problems that can’t be resolved by nursing more often. Cows can’t be so very different, honestly. Milk glands are milk glands!
