I use to take money from my family when I was younger to spend on games which I truly regret but to answer why he didn't even think about the consequences is simply because you get blind once you start stealing. My mum used to say "once you start a home it won't take long for you to start stealing from someone else and get caught" I'm glad I stopped because seeing this makes me really regret doing it and it could've easily been me if I hadn't stopped. Just work hard for your own money and you'll feel even better spending it or flexing if that's the kind of thing you like. Just don't steal because no matter how well you hide it, eventually you'll get caught and regret it forever.
