I remeber this one. The killer had advanced syphilis that messed up his brain. He killed all those people because the company kept him in the dark about his disease. In the end he was sent to a mental hospital to receive treatment. But I also remember how the mother of the son the guy killed looked at Elliot. With sadness and anger at the fact that her son's killer got away with it and the fact that Elliot failed her. I sympathize with her

I remember this one. So heartbreaking. Not just for the victims, but for the perpetrator. Spoiler. Richard Thomas was the killer, deranged because of syphilis that was denied treatment by his insurance company. Syphilis, if left untreated, can cause psychiatric disorders including depression, mania, psychosis, personality changes, delirium and dementia. This is what happened to him. Karen Allen played his ex-wife.
@craigbreuwet1924 Жыл бұрын
Yes I remember Richard Thomas would quote from the bible if I recall right, thinking he was doing the Lords work
@pedroguerrero386210 ай бұрын
Not just that, if left untreated for too long it will eventually leave you disfigured, your nose will rot and fall off. Also it doesn't just affect the skin and soft tissue, with time it will literally eat all the way to the bone. There are skeleton that have are patches of disfigurement on the skull and forehead.

Spoiler below: . . . . . . . . . . . I remember this one - the perp had an advanced case of syphilis which had progressed to the point of destroying parts of his brain - in this case, his moral centre, and causing severe paranoid schizophrenia. The secondary part of the episode was that he had gone for health insurance at one point, and their test showed the syphilis, but they didn't tell him or his doctor about it - even though a single dose of penicillin would have stopped the disease, and saved all those lives. The perp ends up in a mental hospital, unfit for trial until cured, but the disease had progressed so far that he was basically in there until he died.

For people wondering: He had an advanced case of syphilis, destroying his brain to the point where he had no moral center in his brain. His life insurance company knew about it and didn’t tell anyone, even his PCP meaning that he never received treatment, which involved a penicillin injection, just one. They arrested the owner of the insurance company where he made a plea deal to get out of prison. The murderer when he was caught was deemed too far gone for trial and since he was in the very advanced stages of syphilis, they put him in a psychiatric hospital for most likely the rest of his life unless he does mentally recover enough for a trial.
