Well it’s the difference between beating your opponent and humiliating them. Joel as a professional food contest veteran and competitive eater could have probably put away double or triple the amount he had done but then he would have to look all of those people in the eye afterwards. He new he was in for a comfortable win and that is why he slowed down, it had nothing do do with fairness, if he had wanted fairness he would have disqualified himself from the competition for being a professional up against amateurs.
