He could bait them and move from building to building, or eliminate them completely. Instead he just wanted to play with them. The man didn't want to live. Not to mention that he could have grown crops on the roof. He could have shot at zombies. He could have tried signalling to other humans. There are a thousand things he could have done. But he did literally nothing for weeks as he slowly ate his food and hoped that it rained enough not to kill him. He didn't even bother to build a decent rain-collection device, instead relying on a hundred pots and pans. He's a loser.

Beautiful recap! To all introverts here: the movie shows itself how different is to be lonely around people (in the beginning) from being lonely at all (after the zombie apocalypse). It's pretty easier to be a lonely person when you have someone to say it. One of the dumbest things someone can do during an apocalypse is listen to music with headphones on. It takes away your ability to listen to outside noises. Has anyone ever wondered why in zombie apacolypse movies, people literally wear clothes that can easily be torned? Like why don’t they wear pads so that way even if they’re bit, the teeth won’t sink far enough to infect them? Or even if they are scratched, the nails wouldn’t scratch into their skin because they are wearing leather? Idk, maybe it’s just me

He listens to music while he's safe inside. As to your other question. Padding sacrifices movement for safety. I personally don't have anything from leather aside from a belt. Also sufficient cloth to prevent a bite would get super hot. You can tape magazines like bracers though,to make a bite shield.

And although not directly touching the wound, the bodily liquids can end up soaking through the magazines and infecting open wounds underneath. It may not last very long as protection. As for padding, I meant like padding similar to that of a biker. And the padding would be proficient enough so that even if you were to run too slow, it would not be all too bad if you were bit. During an apocalypse, you can rob a store or someone's house for leather. Leather is tough to pierce.

I read a study that really went into a lot of detail about something of this nature and concluded that if you can make it past 30 days, you're better than 99% of everybody else. Where after only a month, there's only 1% left. But what about two months, three months... a year? Two years. Like they were talking about how in the US, after a year, it's plausible that you'd actually be able to go like a whole nother year without even seeing anybody else. Who wasnt infected, that is. One of the big things they atteibuted to everybody dying off really quick, or even after the first month, is zombie shows and movies. Because every time they grab what's "important" it's a weapon like a hatchet or a crowbar... and not that gallon of water. So it imprints on our social consciousness the same way jurors sit in court and say "They didnt do a DNA test, so Im not convinced" because they do it for every case on hit shows like Law and Order and CSI.

The interesting thing about this is, Sam is actually a really good zombie survivor. The only negative thing about him was that he was going crazy from loneliness, hence the bad mistakes (almost dying to save a cat, playing drums which attracted zombies, burning his things and having the zombies come in.) I don't think Sam shooting Sarah accidentally is his mistake, that's Sarah's mistake. Like come on, sneaking to someone's place and not even announcing you're there? You're just begging to be shot. Like seriously, she KNEW there was a person there, so she COULDVE JUST SPOKE ANYTHING. Saying "hello?" would already save her, but nope, she sneaks instead. Which makes me think, maybe she's a looter? Not actually trying to meet Sam, but just wanting to get his stuff? Which sucks because if Sam was actually surviving with a person, he'd be a really good at making good choices.

I wonder what would happen if an old person who doesn't have teeth became a zombie, and my 3yo use to bite me all the time. I feel like it's hard to bite through skin. So, not every zombie bite would break the flesh.

an actually good survivor with some thinking rather than doing stuipid shit but when his sanity starts to fade away his actions become more stuipid by the time until eventually leads to his demise such a good representation of survivor

I like how he is both emotional and smart. Like with the downstairs neighbors. He knew he had to do something about the smell but he still respected the couple and make sure that they were confined and sealed, but laid together.

FYI he did fine at the start. He did the smart survival thing of gathering all the resources available, clearing out the dangers in the immediate area, and securing the area. Rationed his food and got weapons + recreation. Took advantage of rainy days too for water. When he was going insane from the loneliness was when things went wrong. Played drums loudly to vent and even risked life for a cat. Killing the girl also hurt his psych. Leaving was the best option at that point because he likely would have suicide. Also never explains why he never got infected after he got bit.
