I believe one of the big reasons people love this channel is Bruce himself. Enthusiastic and wholesome in a nostalgic way. Many of us grew up watching Steve Irwin every week and this channel has the same feel. It's a feeling that I forgot I needed after growing up and losing that great man. Bruce brings back what we need in such a great way.

This reminds me of when I was growing up and my mom had to have her drains unblocked every spring. The guys who came were awesome like Bruce and had great senses of humour. They made a literally sh***y day more bearable. When I was 5 one of them even waded through the sewage to get my non destroyed toys for me even though he was busy doing his job. The first time the sewer backed up there was about 6” of water in the basement with raw sewage floating in it. Fortunately? It was mostly clean water from the softener. The second time I caught it before much came up through the drain and was able to unplug the softener from the wall before total disaster occurred. I’m not sure why she didn’t replace the pipes. They were old clay and infested with tree roots. Finally she was forced to replace the pipes from where they entered her house out to the road after a tornado tore up several 80ft spruce trees and the sewer line with them. In some places the entire pipe had rotted away and the sewage was just going through a tunnel in the soil. Here’s where it gets interesting. I came to help her out with the remaining yard clean up a few months later when I finally was able to take some time off work. She really excited and was bragging about how she no longer had to get her pipes cleaned. One morning I went downstairs to get something from the freezer and she was doing laundry and I heard that telltale gurgling from the drain that was a familiar memory from my childhood. I immediately went up to tell her and she insisted everything was fine. She didn’t believe me and said that it was impossible for anything to back up because everything was new. She was actually quite rude to me and I told her that oh well I’m leaving tomorrow so have fun. Well the laundry water managed to do down but disaster struck again when the softener started its nightly cycle. She went downstairs and stepped in an inch of water. Her carpet was ruined. Her furniture was ruined. Her insurance company was totally unimpressed. This was the biggest “I told you so” moment of my life and I still find amusing to bring it up now and then. She had to get her foundation cut up so the pipes under the floor could be replaced. Part of the pipe under her floor had also collapsed. Now her sewer works perfectly. She still gets it checked every 4 years though just in case.
