@@HEARTAEMOXA Yeah. Either someone around her is suspicious or (and this happens too often) loved ones don't take possible threats seriously. Often it's parents of kids who are being threatened, abused or stalked, but also, unfortunately a lot of GUYS do this. I think maybe it's because they don't have the same fears as women - they don't HAVE to - so they don't understand and think it's irrational. As Gavin de Becker (a security expert who wrote "The Gift of Fear,") said, when it comes to such things, men and women do live in different worlds.

I hope Joel realizes how many people he's helping. I thought I was odd because listening to his scary stories calmed my anxiety/panic disorder. I found Let's Read soon after the panic attacks started. Right in the midst if feeling like I was dying everyday, Let's Read calmed me and I could breath again. It's definitely his voice. He's awesome!

Lady with the guy on the back porch and weird messages that plans on getting a dog to solve the problem... Yes, get a dog, but please please please get a gun and learn how to use it. Don't be afraid to carry it around the house and keep it close by. maybe even get a couple to keep in different rooms of the house. As a woman the only way you'll have the upper hand over a man is to give yourself a mechanical advantage. If it's a prank it'll stop real quick when they hear you have a gun. If it's not a prank then shoot em in the dick.

Ok the first story, how come just years late did his parents explained to him what the guy meant? My mother always talked with us about this stuff, even when we were little. Never ever did she refused to answer any question. That's really absurd. Imagine if the creeper had tried something even worse? When I was 11 years old, went to the movies with a few friends and my best friend that time was going to get a ride with my parents. As the movie ended late (23h) the mall was almost closed. We were at the door waiting for my parents (inside of course) and I was waiting for them to call me. Out of nowhere, 5 guys came at us saying that my dad was calling me. If my parents hadn't taught me about this kind of danger; maybe I would be naive and belive in them, but I didn't. My dad doesn't have an usual name and I asked them what was his name and course they didn't get it right. As I looked around us there were no one near us to help, so I grabbed my friends hand and start to run through the mall. I was able to find a restroom and could hear they chasing and calling us. And luckily they didn't find us.

Yes I found that story very upsetting because not only did they refuse to explain anything to this poor child- leaving them open for further exploitation- they punished them and sent them to their room for asking what that meant which is a great way to end up with a kid who sneaks around and hides everything they think might make their parent upset to avoid conflict and punishment. What they should have done is asked where the kid heard that and explained to them that it wasn't a good thing to say and that the fact that the grown man had said this to them was very wrong, etc etc. So many of these stories seem to follow a pattern of: something traumatizing happens to kid, parent finds out or child tries to tell parent, parent either refuses to believe child and claims they're lying, minimizes and belittles the issue, or responds to it in some other horrific way that makes the whole situation worse. Sighhhh

The story about the man who kept saying “I know I’m scary” actually made me really sad. Obviously OP has trauma from csa, which I can unfortunately relate to. But the guy following him also seemed like he was really, *really* struggling with mental illness, and was just so fargone that he just didn’t know how to interact with others anymore. Which I can also unfortunately relate to, being bipolar schizophrenic. I knew I scared people sometimes even thought I couldn’t control myself, and I carried a lot of shame and confusion over it. I’m really lucky that I had a great support system that that guy might not have had. I hope both OP and that man have found peace.

Happy Thanksgiving, OMG I am so so sick of my mother making freaking noises constant noises,being morbidly obese ,not talking to her for 8 years then telling me she was moving in with back to Texas from Georgia I don't wanna get into why I wasn't talking to her,she did something very wrong to me Anyway she was being evicted from assisted living for theft she claims she didn't do. So anyway she gets here severely immobile and now I'm stuck with caring for her She has no idea what she puts me through. She ALWAYS treated me like I was the adult when I was the growing up. When I do have children l, I will teach them. Be kind because you never know what others intentions are, but maneuver safe so you make it home. Alot of criminals don't encounter nice people who understand their perspective. I've avoided alot of trouble due to criminals having empathy for me and me showing I'm not a victim.

The guy with the sister sounds like she's a little I don't know paranoid to say the least every time she goes to a store somebody's saying hello sweetheart is a scary horrible thing when I was a bartender people used to say hello sweetheart all the time even guys are gals that were on their first visit Yes girls too people call each other sweetheart just to be polite friendly so yeah if somebody's following them that room for concern somebody walking up to the store and saying hey sweetheart because maybe they think you're cute or they're just being friendly maybe helped help you to make small talk and get a date if that's how people do things that's how they get to know people that they find attractive they go up to him make small talks say something But it's neither overly friendly or rude and then they get to talking or at least hopefully in some guys cases But the sister sounds like if anybody tries to talk to her she thinks that somebody trying to get her and it makes about the story cuz it sure happened to her many times all in one week and all different people, it kind of sounds like little sister likes big brothers attention and likes feeling like she has a hero I had to wonder if you guys were full siblings or siblings by marriage that grew up together
