Hey Jonas, Thank you ! What I like on this model is the low sw. Since my surgery, I Can't play anymore with heavy racquet neither sw higher than 320. Thank you head for this racquet and the prestige mp l that I also have in my bag, great sticks allowing me to play good tennis. Thanks again Jonas for the great review !

Might be your string/tension choice, or a mis specced frame, but I had a great demo of this frame vs the old frame. The old ET was a vibrating, underpowered mess that absolutely needed weight in the hoop to make it substantial. This one has a nice pocketing sensation using Alu pwr at mid tension, and gives noticeably more free power. The Auxetic tech or new layup makes the frame way more comfortable, but keeps the frame pretty maneuverable. Stability seems about the same, as you need a decent swing to push back against heavy pace. All in all, a really good hit and a pleasant surprise as I've been mostly underwhelmed by the new Boom and Speed. I also absolutely hated the old ET, so not playing favorites by any means.

Great insight as always about increasing the weight of this racquet to 310 grams since most of the players (if not all) had to add lead tape to increase stability.

Just purchased this racquet after using Speed Pros at 336g, my ET strung with overgrip and dampener is 328g and I absolutely love it, added weight in the grip and at 3 and 9, 335g, to bring it closer to what my Speeds were and I didn’t like it, lost it’s manoeuvrability so I’ll try smaller increments as you’ve mentioned before and maybe just the bit of weight at 12….I personally didn’t find it unstable enough to sacrifice all the things I love about the racquet but just thought to try some things as everyone says they find it better with some weight…and the paint job looks fantastic in person, I was sceptical in pictures

I agree with Jonas that it is not much of an upgrade. I played a few days with the new version weighted up the same as my current ET’s and it played pretty similar with slightly better feel. Not worth $$ to upgrade for me. Will stick with the previous generation Tour.

Dude, I need some advice. I found that the swing weight of the extreme tour is very low, it is difficult to accelerate the ball. I put four grams of lead at 10 and 2 to speed up the swing. What would happen if I add weight from 10 to 8 and 2 to 4? I understand that it would gain stability against off-center hits, I would like to know if apart from this it would gain power and/or swing speed or it wouldn't be so noticeable. I'm looking for my racket to look a little like the yonex vcore 98 of 2018. I appreciate the advice and or help

@@knoosee Weird, I have watched a couple of reviews on the CX 200 Tour and most mentioned you need to add some weight to make the racquet work. Kinda makes sense given the low SW of 318 at a narrow beam design of 20.5 and low stiffness. Without added weight, it seems really underpowered on paper.

For 3.0-4.0 I don't think anyone has ever said you should get any 98. Or do you know a 98 that would be more forgiving for someone with a one handed background? Choices seem to be limited for 3.5 players with one handed backhand of you are looking for a racket with a small head. Is this the easiest of 98s at least? Or is there something easier

I've got a question: are there any (high ranked) ATP or WTA players that use shaped polyester strings? Shaped polyesters are a trend these past few years for tennis players like me, that play tennis as a hobby. I'm curious though, if any pros actually use them either in full-bed or in hybrid combos/

I has been a while since I used an Extreme racquet. I think that was back in 2012, maybe the IG version. This one looks nice. It is really cool that the grip matches the color of the frame. As far as I know the Hydrosorb Pro is one of the best (if not the best) base grip available. Since I started to play tennis again in 2010 I never ever used a racquet without an overgrip. However, a few days ago I wrapped a Hydrosorb Pro on my Ezone 100, and yesterday I tested it without an overgrip. The feel is really very nice, cushioning is excellent, I would assume that with an overgrip it could become overly cushioned. I keep testing this setup, I am curious about the durability without an overgrip.

This racquet is transformed by adding weight as are nearly all retail racquets, add 2g at 3-9 &12 and 6g under but cap( 12g in total counterbalanced). Any 4.0 adult male should be able to handle 335g static, and 330g swing weight. This provides more stability, less vibration, less twist more feel, and more power. It is amazing to me how many players think that adding this much weight will contribute to wrist/elbow issues the opposite is actually the case, Your shoulder will let you know what your maximum static weight potential is. I have added a similar weight to many stock racquets and not one person has gone back, The key is keeping a very similar balance point by counterweighting.

I was interested in Jonas's comment that putting lead at 3-9 or 10-2 felt sluggish, but that putting it at 12 was good. Since lead at 12 would increase the swingweight more than at the other positions, I would have thought that weight at the top of the hoop would feel more sluggish. Can anyone explain?
@winniecarl
@winniecarl 2 жыл бұрын
@@nathenclerici6904 Weight at 12 will add power, it also generates racquet head speed because it increases momentum if you counterweight with weight in the handle this will maintain H/L balance and moderate this momentum.

@@winniecarl Thank you, I hadn't considered it in this way. I only use 2-4 grams, so I would be able to counterweight with just an overgrip. I have been doing 3-9 for stability, but I'm going to try 10-2 and see how that feels... I do sense some slight sluggishness at 3-9.

I get that this racquet is prob. meant as a platform racquet, but in general a racquet that doesn't feel good in stock form or has several issues is somewhat of a fail IMO.... You want to make a racquet even better with customisation, not fix it to play decent... I was tweaking my ET so much until I found what works, but then realised it's nowhere near my favourite racquets, lol ;)
@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
This is where multiple weight options are good. But a racket as to be successful enough for this happen. If there's only one racket for a line, then it should probably be middle ground. Light enough for players who want a light racket for stock use or customisation (light spec still) and a good platform for those who want something with quite a bit more mass. See, I've seen people say pure aero Vs should be 310 or 315 grams etc. Let's say they do that. They've just made the only pure aero Vs available if that happens heavier than the one that the main aero Vs man actually uses himself! You can't make a racket lighter but you can increase its specs. So in my mind, if you want a heavier stick, you should be advanfed as a player enough to have discovered customisation. And if you've discovered customisation then this weight will be fine unless you wanted a spec that can't be achieved with this platform.
@hybrid11theory75
@hybrid11theory75 Жыл бұрын
@@sjjapp I get your point and it makes sense to go for a lighter racquet and then customise it, but it still feels wrong to me a racquet above 300g that has lots of stability issues in stock form..
@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
@@hybrid11theory75 design choices affect stability. Things like going for a very low swing weight in this case. Assuming there's not much mass in the hoop and it's affecting hitting weight (the combination of swing weight and twist weight) a lot across its stringbed. Then things like quality control. Light spec. Get an underspec one and then stability is going to suffer quite a bit The Babolat pure drive Vs got a lot of stick I see for being unstable. 300g. Low swing weight as well. When I weighted it to my 98 spec it was super stable. More stable than many other 98s. On the other side the IGA is very stable for its weight, despite average 298 weight and a low swing weight as well. Thick beam and high RA help, but it's supposedly foam filled and that may contribute. From a business perspective, they're probably thinking they can market it as super whippy and all that. Low swing weight. low static weight. A beam that's quick through the air anyway. But the end result isn't suitably stable it seems in this particular case. Something they'll likely address in next update I suspect. Any racket is a platform racket really. A base. Main line ones anyway. But at same time most people that buy rackets probably aren't going to customise them, so yes I agree it isn't really acceptable when a racket has unsuitable stability levels in stock relative to a general accepted standard.
@hybrid11theory75
@hybrid11theory75 Жыл бұрын
@@sjjapp Yes, totally agree. The main thing to consider, if you have a bad/weak platform to start with, it's prob. never going to be a great stick.. i've learned this lesson myself and just sharing it!!
@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
@@hybrid11theory75 not in stock I'd agree. A base racket with poor stability can still be a great racket when customised though. A low stability stock frame can very, very quickly become a brick if you wanted it to be. Depends on base spec and what you need to do to reach your custom spec or if winging it how much weight you plan on adding and where. I think had Head given this a higher swing weight/some mass in hoop we probably wouldn't be having this conversation about it. But also in turn had they done that it wouldn't be quite as whippy. In stock though I think it's direct competitors like the pure aero Vs do outshine it. When all matched to same spec, they're all as good as each other (bigger brand options at least) but not quite in the same ways. So comes down to preferences.
