" يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِّاَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنٰتِكَ وَنِسَاۗءِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ يُدْنِيْنَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ جَلَابِيْبِهِنَّ ۭ ذٰلِكَ اَدْنٰٓى اَنْ يُّعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ ۭ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا " * سوره الاحزاب آیت 59 * ترجمه : اے پیغمبر! کہو اپنی بیویوں بیٹیوں اور عام مسلمانوں کی عورتوں سے کہ وہ لٹکا دیا کریں اپنے (چہروں کے) اوپر کچھ حصہ اپنی چادروں کا یہ طریقہ اس کے زیادہ قریب ہے کہ وہ پہچان لی جایا کریں پھر ان کو کوئی ایذاء نہ پہنچنے پائے اور اللہ تو بہرحال بڑا ہی بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے. اس آیت کے متعلق همارے نبی کریم صلی الله علیه وآله وسلم کے چچازاد بهائی! حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں اللہ تعالیٰ مسلمان عورتوں کو حکم دیتا ہے کہ جب وہ اپنے کسی کام کاج کیلئے باہر نکلیں تو جو چادر وہ اوڑھتی ہیں اسے سر پر سے جھکا کر منہ ڈھک لیا کریں، صرف ایک آنکھ کھلی رکھیں ۔ امام محمد بن سیرین رحمتہ اللہ علیہ کے سوال پر حضرت عبیدہ سلمانی رحمتہ اللہ علیہ نے اپنا چہرہ اور سر ڈھانک کر اور بائیں آنکھ کھلی رکھ کر بتا دیا کہ یہ مطلب اس آیت کا ہے۔ 1: حضرت عکرمہ رحمتہ اللہ علیہ کا قول ہے کہ اپنی چادر سے اپنا گلا تک ڈھانپ لے۔ 2: حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا فرماتی ہیں اس آیت کے اترنے کے بعد انصار کی عورتیں جب نکلتی تھیں تو اس طرح لکی چھپی چلتی تھیں گویا ان کے سروں پر پرند ہیں سیاہ چادریں اپنے اوپر ڈال لیا کرتی تھیں ۔ * تفسیر حضرت امام ابن کثیر ...سوره احزاب آیت نمبر 59 * * تفسیر ابن جریر * 3: حضرت عائشہ فرماتى ہیں كہ ہم رسول اللہ صلى اللہ عليہ وسلم كے ساتھ حالت احرام ميں ہوتی تھیں ۔ قافلے ہمارے پاس سے گزرتے ، جب ہمارے سامنے آتے تو ہم ميں سے ہرایک اپنی چادر اپنے سر سے نیچے لٹکا لیتی ۔ پھر جب وہ گزر جاتے تو ہم پردہ پیچھے ہٹا لیتے۔ ( حديث: بحوالہ سنن أبى داود: كتاب المناسك ۔ باب في المحرمہ ) 4: امام ابن کثیر اپنی تفسیر میں لکهتے هیں * که نیک بخت اور صاحب عزت عورت کا نشان گهونگهٹ هے تاکه بدنیت ، فاسق ، فاجر ان کے ساته چیڑ چهاڑ نه کریں. عورت جب باهر هو تو شیطان اس کو غیرمردو کی طرف اور اس کو بهی غیرو کی طرف مائل کرنے میں لگتا هے اور ان کو بدنظر کا مرتکب کرواتا هے . یایھا النبی قل لازواجک وبنتک ونسآء المؤمنین یدنین علیھن من جلابیبھن . اے نبی! آپ اپنی بیبیوں سے اور بیٹیوں سے اور مسلمانوں کی عورتوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ وہ نیچے کرلیا کریں اپنے اوپر تھوڑی سی اپنی چادریں۔ جلابیب ‘ جلبابکی جمع ہے ‘ جلباب اس چادر کو کہتے ہیں جس کو عورت دوپٹے اور کرتے کے اوپر سے لپیٹ لیتی ہے۔

Because of decency. And Islam has an extremely high level and standard of decency. Men can find a woman's hair attractive. While yes, men should lower their gaze, this doesn't mean that women neglects her hijab altogether. You look at what was done at the Prophet (SWSs) time and see, did they wear their convertible hijabs, or did they cover their bodies with decency?

the reason why many muslims do not belive hadith, is beacuse people wrote it, not prophets or allah, PEOPLE wrote it. if people wrote it than it can very easily change or be misinterpreted over time. Many people should follow the word of god, because the word of god can never be changed and the quran is nothing but the word of god. The hadith can not always have the truth.

Not always... but that's why we have scholars checking every hadith, leaving no room for error to relate its authenticity. We have a strict code regarding the chain of transmitters, the isnstabce in which the hadith was reported, when it was reported, etc. If one rejects the authentic hadith, they reject our Prophet's teachings.

headcover was their even before islam came. Headcover was not an islamic invention, it was societal and cultural invention common in the old time periods. Not wearing headcover is not misguided and if one decides to wear it is should be up to the women not the men who seem to enjoy enforcing their misguided patriarchy in the east. Don't forget the verse "There is no compulsion in Islam".

​@@xxx00hot Don't confuse, "There is no compulsion in Islam," to outright disobeying Allah. One has no compulsion in religion, and if they choose to disobey Allah then that is their choice... But this doesn't mean that there won't be a punishment for that individual and they'll just be let off the hook. Allah has commanded that everything except what is normally shown (faced, hands, etc) must be covered. This is not a pre-islamic innovation, and there is clear wording in the Qur'an to prove this.

At the end of the day we need to realize Mullahs are people with their own perspectives, and cultural biases as well. Mullah's are not faultless or errorless, nobody is. For example almost all Mullah's agree that Niqab is optional but in my Toronto neighbourhood this one IMAM of Bengali origin believe its is mandatory which is not true. No matter what others say, at the end of the day Islam is your own personal, spiritual and moral journey with Allah(SWT). if you in your heart feel that what you perceive of the Quran is true and does not harm anyone. Khimar and Jilbab are mentioned in Quran and it is nothing but Hijab. Need to read and understand Quran and apply it’s injunctions. This is in the interest of womenfolk. Very surprised to hear Ghamedi sahab telling the so called educated ladies who are steeped in western culture that it is enough to be modest. Observe decency. Where as our prophet ‎ﷺ ordered to his wives and women to observe Hijab in other words Parda which is another word for Hijab, Khimar and Jilbab. Hadiths about hijab With regard to the Ahadith : It was narrated from Safiyyah bint Shaybah that ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say: When these words were revealed - “and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)” - they took their izars (a kind of garment) and tore them from the edges and covered their faces with them. Narrated by al-Bukhari, 4481.

I think his reply is very much confusing and this is not clear to him. Head covering is obligatory for adult women in the presence of na-mehrams or in any place where she could be seen by na-mehrams. There is no difference of opinion about this amongst almost all of the Islamic scholars etc. The only difference of opinion is whether face and hands upto wrist can be kept open in presence of na-mehrams. It is also obligatory for women to fully cover her body and head in a respectful and decent way while offering her nimaz even when no na-mehram is around. It is also obligatory to cover all her zeenat (for example lips when lipstick is applied, eyebrow colours, colored cheeks, colourful dress and attractive head covering even if it is otherwise fully covering and very decent, all the body curves etc ). The women are also commanded that they should not walk in such a manner (for example placing their steps hard on ground, taking long steps, running etc) so that whatever is worn hidden should not come into the knowledge of na-mehrams (for example the sound of pa-zeb and bangles etc, the smell of perfumes etc). Women should be very careful while walking, sitting or standing in front of na-mehrams so that the movement of the curves of their bodies is not noticed by na-mehrams. There is some relaxation in dressing for old ladies. The more old, the more relaxation by logic. They can only remove the outer covering ( for example burka, big chader etc). But even then, they should not do this if they want to be looked fashionable etc. This is very logical as hijab requirements can not be same for a young and old lady. As far as the issue of head covering while reciting Quran, I think it is not obligatory if not in sight of any na-mehram but it is desirable to observe the dress code of while offering nimaz.
