In this video I unbox 2 Head Auxetic Extreme MP rackets, check their specs for any quality control issues and make some hidden customizations so that they match! The customizations include putting weight under the butt cap as well as the grommets. Thanks for watching!

Another great vid-- particularly dig the how-to on easing up grommets, a frustrating exercise without the proper technique. But you shoulda gloved-up b4 handling that lead since you're setting an example here.

Thanks. Never a bad idea to use gloves when handling lead tape. It’s difficult to get it into tight spaces with them on though. In this case I opted to go without gloves and give my hands a good scrub afterwards.

Thanks for the video, love the details and quality! My Head Extreme MP 2022 weights 305g which are +5g compared with the factory specs (300g). Can the quality control be so poor?? I also have the Extreme Tour (past version 305g unstrung specs) but believe or not, strung both with overgrip the MP is heavier (MP = 327g vs. Tour = 326g). Are +/- 5g of difference in weight acceptable by the manufacturers? It think is too much...

I think lately yonex QC has gone off a bit. I demoed a vcore pro 97 310 and about 10pts HL strung (measured off a table edge with measuring tape). I then purchased the 97L 290 version and measured the unstrung balance. Again, using the same method, I got 31.8cm even though the listed balance on the frame is 32.5cm. However, their static weights still appear to be right on.

Interesting. I bet the swingweight on that 290 would measure pretty low. My best friend is sponsored by Yonex so I’ll check out the frames he gets in January. I’ll also most likely check specs and review the new VCore 95 and 98 if he doesn’t get those ones as a part of his package. Stay tuned!

@@simmstennis Correct. The 290 measured 274 on swingweight. The other 2 i had checked prior to purchase was 274 and 271 - both also much more HL than target spec. I have also noticed yonex removed the target swingweight for the 290 off their website while other heavier versions like the 310 and up had it listed. The previous emerald green version had a target swingweight of 285 for the 290. Not sure if yonex starting to skip out a little QC on the less popular frames. Swingweight is also the hardest variable to control in the production process,so it makes sense to not shoot themselves in the foot. I think some other brands have started to not list the target swingweight on their frames for this reason. My friend's speed pro 2022 doesn't have the target swingweight on his frame while prince still do it. In any case, better to be under than over. My friend also recently acquired a gravity pro and it was 325g strung (which roughly translates to 7-8g under for static weight). QC might become a hot topic as supply shortages drives prices of materials up. Brands may be forced to loosen up their QC.

I looked at the Tennis Warehouse site and the specs on this racket show a swing weight of 322. Any suggestions on what might be going on here?

That’s the strung swingweight they list. Unstrung it will typically be about 30 points lower

"QC is hit or miss on most brands besides Yonex." Does Yonex have better QC from what you've seen? Please explain.

Almost all the rackets you will find are made in China by a third party OEM. Sometimes these factories manufacture for multiple racket brands. Yonex, however, has their own dedicated factory in Japan where they manufacture their performance rackets.
