Pickup driver I don't think wore the seatbelt. Appears steering wheel air bag didn't go off and his head broke the windshield. VS an immovble and unbreakable wall, the truck gets poorer crash safety ratings than that little car. But this wasn't an immovable flat wall, it was a head-on between vehicles and you get to see why I prefer the SUV/pickup. With seat belt and airbag, the pickup driver would walk away. Possibly no bruises even. That wasn't more than a few mph closing speed from the truck just ripping the top of the car off at the window line. He indicated that all lived... That's good. "because it's a Ford". Nice unbiased, neutral attitude. Cracks me up this whole which make is better nonsense. They're all designed to fail. Can't sell new ones if the older ones stay in action. Most repair garages I've seen have mechanics shoulders deep in all makes. I think it's foolish to be brand loyal in the auto industry. Gotta keep an open mind. You may have had good luck with a particular make for a long time, but that's all it was, luck. GM, Ford, Dodge (Ram), Toyota, Nissan....They all have recalls, TSBs, and inherant design flaws. Some people are like "the Prius was mangled from a low speed impact". Yeah, but notice how the cabin's intact? The rest of the car has crumple zones that are purposely designed to absorb the energy of the crash so that the passenger compartment is undamaged. It's incredible just how safe even a cheaper, smaller car than this is nowadays. Some of those people think old cars are safer because the car would be damaged less. It would be, but that's because the energy from the impact would be transferred into the cabin and you'd be eating the steering column for dinner. Modern cars crumple so that you don't.

At 11:24 the message on the Prius dash. “Drive-Start Command Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer.” Yep, like that’s gonna happen! What an optimistic car. This Prius took a hard hit where it submarined under the front bumper of the ford and shredded everything up to the base of the windshield and splattered windshield glass everywhere. In spite of all the torn up look of the car, the passenger cell is still very intact. That was a very solid hit to sheer those Ford front suspension control arm bracket bolts. Which actually was a good thing for crash energy dissipation. All that destruction on the front of that Prius was actually to the benefit of the passengers in the Prius. You had a 7000+ pound truck with a truck frame do a whamo into a lightweight at 3,000 to 3,200 pound Prius. (Yes, believe it or not, a Prius is a featherweight car! Our 2013 model on certified scale is right at 2800 pounds.)

That is the necessary fleet for the number of schools in the district. Everyone of the staff was assigned a truck. During my 35 years I had four different trucks. And I will tell you those Fords were beasts. Eight- foot plows and when you raised it the front just sat there no droop at all. The district bought salt in bags 49 50lb bags per skid. You could put two skids in those F350's and haul it no problem. Bashing Fords and you buy a Ram. Chrysler famous for their 13 wires connected to one ground point. Nothing but electrical problems because of it and remember Ford is Ford unlike Ram that is now Fiat and three French car companies owned.

The worst was a Honda Civic that killed 4 teens. They were speeding and took out an entire fence. The smell was awful. We moved the car as quick as we could because of all the prople that came to see it. Families destroyed in a blink of an eye. Another was a caddy that was flattened by a train. It was sobering. The driver showed up and passed out when he saw the car. Come to find out he put the car on the tracks in a low area train crossing because he could not get his car bought back by the purchasing dealership. He brought that car several hundred miles from his home and staged it. Nothing was adding up and he was arrested.

Thats the problem with big trucks and SUVs. Its fine if everyone has one but there are small cars out on the road with you. You might come out with some bruises and ruined bumper and radiator but the person in the small car you hit would be lucky to live...

As always prayers for all accident victims and first responders. Ron, I had too quit watching for a bit. A friend's husband was killed when stopped to help someone when not working as a driver. Just to close to home

Thought the sunrise may have contributed to this. Pulling out of a driveway, one tends to check over your shoulder. Pulling in, maybe the pickup was trying to beat opposing traffic turning in. Bad combo; bad timing. Hoping all involved fully recovers. Chemical gloves have terrible dexterity but they're invaluable protection when things are leaking.

Thoughts and prayers to the driver of the car, for some time I drove a roll back with a spec lift and we would always tack this truck to a 2 car incident we found it was easier and quicker than two truck's it doubled the man power when the other driver could be doing another job and unless it was a multi car incident it was a one man recovery and a one truck recovery hear in the uk.

Living in NJ/NY for decades, the only tow truck that i have ever seen with a siren is the NYPD tow trucks. I have never seen a tow truck with a siren other than a police vehicle.

In this case it was best to do what you had to do to open the road up. I'll be praying for the driver of the car. That was a hard hit 😢.

Vol firefighter from IN here... we carry big heavy duty trash bags in our trucks and usually have all the trash picked up by the time the wrecker shows up! They seem to like that for some reason! 😃
