Watching these videos kind of puts me in the twilight zone... I love how pretty much everyone in Jake & Amir produced videos, speaks so weird. Even the people playing straight man. They engage with the idiot of the episode way more than they should, and feel the need to punctualize and comment on everything they say. And the funniest part is that the characters are even becoming self aware of this fact. And everyone pulls from this well of phrases that almost sound normal enough to be frequently used in real life, but aren't. Like when someone makes up a crappy slogan or rhyme, and someone else will say "Bad". It's not much, but the way these characters talk and act starts to grow on you, and kind of cements the uniqueness of their comedic voice. These videos more than make up for putting an end to the Jake and Amir web series, because these are actually better in a lot of ways

Exactly! Now that Jake and Amir are back I think that's what makes them feel so off compared to the College Humor era... Theres so much less emphasis on trying to make any of the characters feel like real people and as such the obsessive best friend and irritated coworker character traits that informed the old series is mostly gone. EVERYTHING is in service of the surreal joke structuring that they have basically perfected and gone off the deep end with at this point, and as such the videos are just BARELY hanging on to any semblance of a premise. Geoff's style definitely has informed their writing also. The videos and jokes within are better written than ever but what the fuck are they anymore. Feels like late Jerry Lewis films in a way, in a way.
