If you’re going to smoke the headlamps, you’ll need to add a light bar that activates with your high beam switch for added brightness. You can also add a bulb with more lumens to compensate.

Tinted lights are a bad idea on the whole. Thumbs up to you for actually scientifically proving this by benchmarking with a lux meter as opposed to those who try to pass off this experiment as a success with just pictures and video footage. You're right... throw away the tint!

What about golden yellow tint? I put golden yellow tint on my imalent sr16 flashlight. Can you run a test and let me know if much difference in brightness on whatever light u want to use for test 👍 👍 please

What i would do.. I would smoke tint the tail lights lightly so the color looks darker and the bightness for too bright brake lights wouldn't be as affected as a more important headlights. For headlights i would go with something clear, yet having the rainbowy effect from the different angles of sunlight - that wouldn't have too much negative effect if any since it'd be just clear all around.

If you’re going to do that, keep in mind that it’s recommended to choose high-quality film with self-healing properties and to have it installed by a professional to ensure it’s applied without bubbles or wrinkles that could affect light transmission, in order for your experiment to be fair.

I did an LED conversion with mine after the headlight tint and I can see jack shit, sadly. With that being said I do rarely drive at night so I may keep it on for the aesthetic but if it becomes a problem then I’ll have to remove it. Edit: Wanted to add that it was a gift for my birthday and the person who got it for me got the darkest tint from luxe. So take the “can see jack shit” part with a grain of salt.

I have. Hids may be a bit brighter than leds, but they aren't near as durable and definitely are a harder install and don't last near as long. Leds are definitely brighter than halogen. Sounds like you need to do some researching of your own.

Tinted headlights are the latest gimmick for people who want to scream to the world, "I have low self-esteem and I desperately want you strangers to think I am cool." When I was in high school, aftermarket fog lamps were the big thing. Even though I grew up in a city that experiences fog only once a decade or so, all my peers just had to get those goddamn fog lamps. And let's not forget the obnoxious car alarm phase. I knew people who would by a piece of shit beater car for a few hundred bucks, then pay as much for an alarm as they would for the damn car. The last few years has showed us wheels getting bigger and tires smaller, which is douchey enough, but now that trend has run its course and we are seeing perhaps the biggest bit of douchebaggery yet--tinted headlamps. Jesus, the whole point of a headlight is so that you can see and others can see you. How dumb can people get?
