Picked these up when they first came out and immediately put them back in the box after 2 hours of listening, but recently after a little burn-in I've found that they sound absoulutely fantastic especially with a headphone amp like a Fiio e12 or an Audiolab M-DAC. Great review as always, love your videos. Keep up the good work!

What initially turned you off to them?
@justinpow9211 жыл бұрын
I guess it was the rolled off treble and the fact that I didn't have a portable amp at the time made them sound a little underpowered despite being a headset that is relatively easy to drive. The amp really made a big difference and opened up the Momentums quite nicely, I use them daily now for on the go use.

Hey man. Enjoyed your review of the Momentum. I like your emphasis on user experience rather than those nit picky sonic analysis. The review seemed well planed as well and the video contents are pretty relevant for the average consumers. Would like a few remarks on whether the headphone gets warm on extended sessions, I think it's pretty important. Keep up the good work :)

Nice review. I've owned these for about 6 months now and I take them everywhere with me. I do wear glasses so I highly appreciate your mention on that. The first few weeks of owning these, I couldn't stand to keep them on my head for longer than an hour. They would cause the legs of my glasses to dig into my head, right behind my ears. I discovered I could stuff a little bit of material in between the driver and the earpad a bit more room. This gave me just a hair under 1/4" additional clearance and no more discomfort.

On the topic of wearing these with glasses: I wear glasses and I've had these headphones for almost a year now, I've worn them for over 12 hours straight on many occasions. I have had some slight discomfort starting after 3-4 hours of wearing them without changing the position (although I guess that's to be expected if you wear them for such a long duration) but the discomfort went away as soon as I moved them around a bit and I feel overall very satisfied with these headphones. I agree with all the positive points made in this review in regards to the sound quality and would definitely recommend this product.

Hey. I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for a good review, I bought a pair of these about 1-2 weeks after you released this review and I haven't looked back. They sound and feel great but you where also right about the snuggness of the earphone, but I find that even though it's a tighter fit than most over-ear headphones they still feel great even after hours of listening. I do a fair bit of flying in my line of work and these headphones almost block out all the noise even when in a smaller airplane like a SAAB 2000. Anyways, great review, great channel. P.S: I got the Ivory ones. :)

Great review thanks I've been waiting for your review in the Momentums. I actually bought a pair to use with my iPhone 5 and really liked them. But I thought I was missing something so I sold them and got a pair of Beyerdynamics DT880 32ohm, hated it, then Ultrasone Pro900, hated it and ended up buying another pair of black/red over ear Momentums. I think these are perfect for iPhone, iPad, iPod listeners!

Well, confession time. I actually sold the black/red ones, LOL!! Went with AKG K545's. I believe once I couple those with the Mont Blanc I just ordered I'll have close to the perfect setup I need. Good review. I want these headphones, but I have a dilemma. The on-ear versions are very affordable and available right over at my local Best Buy. That said, I'm leaning towards the over-ear, but they cost $100+ more than the on-ear (from Amazon). Sennheiser Momentum 2 was better than both Bose QC 25, Sony MDR-100AAP/ABN/1A, B&W P3/P5 and was even with Denon when I gave some headphones a try in some stores! Review below! --Senheiser-- The Sennheiser had pleasant warm sounding sound frequency response and very good detail across the range. They made music listening fun and the music felt alive. They were not punchy in the bass like Sony or AKG or Koss but they were really fun to listen too and they had alot of bass but it was true to the recording and balanced and fun. I've never liked any Sennheiser headphone or in-ear bud before because I always found Sennheiser to be unengaging, flat and boring to listen to - Not these ones! --Noise Cancelling-- Now for Noise cancelling I found them better than both Sony and Bose. I didn't really measure how much sound they kept out or how much hizz/white noise they introduced. It's just that the Sennheiser didn't play music worse with it engaged. Furthermore I could not keep the Bose's on for very long because the NC applied an air pressure to my eardrums so It felt like i was on a plane and needed to pop the negative pressure out of my ears, not very pleasant to have that sensation. --Sound competition-- I have an B&W surround system at home and tried many headphones up towards 1 000$ range. I wanted to find a descent price for something that might get lost or broken so I settled for around USD. The Bose QC-25 was very uncomfortable to listen to. It induced a air pressure from the NC that wasn't comfortable. The sound quality was lousy. I loved these trying them on 2 years ago but not now. All songs I tried with them in 320Kbit made them sound like 128Kbit versions of the same song. It has some serious compression and detail problems. Besides all music sounding like digital jitter in comparison to the Senheiser, they feel like they try more than they can manage both in bassresponse and treble. It's just like Bose's other products "An underdimensioned speaker trying to sound larger" - It doesn't work! I can't say I liked ANY of the Sony alternatives not the 100ABN 100AAP or 1A. The bass was punchy and lossy. The treble was so sharp It made my ears cringe of pain at even medium sound levels. These Headphones have some of the sharpest treble responses I've ever heard and It did hurt - Just avoid! The B&W P3 and P5 suck soo much. I can't believe how disappointed I am with them but fine; if you like Marshall Major Headphones or Beats headphones then maybe :/ The B&W P7 however; wow It's great. The bass was round, warm and felt a little bit undetailed. And actually that's what I feel about my living room speakers aswell. B&W lacks differentiation and subtleties in the bass region. But they sound great with Classical and Rock music not so much modern music. The B&W P9 I tried with Tidal, DAC and headphone amplifier. This is not where I would put my money. They sounded sooo detailed my brain had trouble processing the music when compared to today's lousy KZbin and lossy Spotify formats. Think of It like having three people talk to you at once. That's how the instruments and singer felt. Sooo much clarity!! I also tried Denon AH- GC20 and they sounded as good If not better than the Sennheiser, so I would say this is the only alternative I found! The Denon AH-MM400 was a more expensive version with exotic materials and I didn't like the almost vacuum tight fit of the headphones around my ears, sound quality was very good but didn't justify 100$ more for me.

I am breaking my head here trying to buy a headphone as an upgrade to my Sony MDR-X10. I decided to try the M-100 but want to get one more to make sure I get the best for my ears. I am trying to decide between the Custom One Pro and the Momentum. I like the bass slider of the COP but seeing your review scared me a bit because you said middle way is like the M50 and I tested those and they are pretty anemic in the bass department unless I used the FiiO E17 at full bass and full bass on my phone! I prefer using the E18 and I need nowhere near that for my MDR-X10 to get good bass. I thought about the COP because its sort of getting multiple sound signatures into one. Then you said how much you like the Momentum so now it came to the top of the list too. What do you think? I listen to classical (mostly piano), latin, some rock (not heavy metal), pop, oldies (80s, Elvis) NO DUBSTEP. Thanks!
@allenunderwood690611 жыл бұрын
The Momentum would put a huge smile on your face after reading what you said above. The bass is absolutely phenomenal both in terms of volume and accuracy. Plus the mids and the highs are rich and detailed. Between all the headphones you just listed above, the Momentums are my favorite. As I mentioned in my COP vs M50 video, I prefer the M50's slightly to the COP and I definitely prefer the Momentums to both of those. Granted, the Momentums cost nearly three times as much as the M50's and about $100 more than the COP so it's not really a fair fight, but they are definitely better in most regards.

Hi Allen Enjoyed your positive review. Interested in a set of headphones for home use over a hifi system. Based on the excellent reviews online for sound quality, I keep coming back to these.....but unsure of one thing. All reviews seem to be based on experience using portable electronics , which is the market they were created for. From your experience, would you recommend these for home use over hifi system? Would I get the same balance of sound from lows, mids to highs..........or would the headphones start to show weakness? I listen to jazz, rock, folk, blues..........instruments such as electric / acoustic guitar, cymbals, piano (particularly mid and hi piano tones)etc. Blaine
@HeadphoneReviewHQ10 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I would think these would thrive when plugged up to a home hifi system. Really the biggest difference is the home system will have way more power than a portable player. I know I plugged it up to various amps was more than happy with the sound!

Great vid. Def most comfortable headphones I have worn. I have the black, this almost makes me wish I had the brown. Of course with digital music files garbage in will equal garbage out, but did you think the momentums highlighted poor quality files or live music in a negative way? More so than other headphones, I mean.
@HeadphoneReviewHQ11 жыл бұрын
I didn't really listen to low quality recordings - probably the worst I tried were streaming and those mostly sounded great. Don't get me wrong, some songs compress worse than others, but mostly they sounded nice. I found these to be the perfect balance between a studio set of headphones and standard every day headphones - they brought out the perfect amount of detail without making everything sound very analytical. But I would agree - if you throw poor recorded material at these, it won't be nearly as enjoyable.

@HeadphoneReviewHQ10 жыл бұрын
Did you get them?! What do you think?
@thoughtcriminal19xx10 жыл бұрын
I did. Short Version: I love them. Long Version:OK, the mids and highs are both exceptinally good, and the bass is merely fantastic. I do find it a tiny bit lacking but I'm a "stickler" and occassionally notice a bit more power could be used, but it's only been when listenng to extremey bass heavy things, namely rap and once during a movie. That being said I do love them. I listen to a wide range of musc from classical to rock to EDM to blues etc.and it's all top notch. I also must have smaller ears, I guess, because they fit perfectly snug (the way I like it) and the adjustable earpieces make them extremely comfortable. That being said after about 4-5 hours I do notice my ears getting uncomfortably warm but I'll take the pure sound quality these offer any day of the week. After buying them I immediately tried to break them, throwing all sorts of eclectic stuff and varying the levels rather extremely and they held up very well through everything. Cheers Sennheiser, you win ths round! (shakes fist) Also, the sound reduction/leakage is good. Even on low volume from my mixing board to amp to computer it drowns out my gf, and on high volume on someone else's head they're not audible a room over. The volume is perfectly adequate. As far as I can tell there's no reduction in quality regardless of volume. Honestly, these are great. If you're exclusiively listening to rap or EDM you'd be slightly better off elsewhere but not by much. If you're looking for a good pair of all around headphones, buy these and if you take care of them they'll last you a long time as the material they're made from is good and they're well put together. Anyways, I know that was long winded but thanks Alan. I'm very happy with them and would absolutely recommend them to anyone on the fence about what to buy and has taken the time to read this far down my comment.

Tell me, is this set better compared to the M100? Planning to upgrade from my beloved ATH M50 headphones. I mainly listen to metal, progressive rock, orchestral and electronic music every now and then. I certainly want bass in my music, but nothing overpowering. So hearing it in its most natural form would be really be my thing. Good detail in vocals and instruments is also requisite.

Hello, I would like to know what you recommend me headphones from Bose QuietComfort 25 and the Sennheiser Momentum over ear please ?
@realaudioreviews11 жыл бұрын
Can you please explain why? It can be a short answer. Because I'm looking to buy a nice pair. However I heard many many people complaining about the comfort issues with the momentum.

Depends on the size of your ears. I really have no way of telling you whether they'll be comfortable - for me, I wore them for hours and were extremely comfortable - but if you have larger ears, they may be nearly unwearable.

Nive review. Loved the fact that you have done the review with the glasses. Was it comfortable? Did you feel the ear pads pushing them against your head?
@HeadphoneReviewHQ10 жыл бұрын
These were pretty comfortable...I could feel the glasses more of a fact that they're new to me so I'm always aware of them, but they were not uncomfortable at all.

Nice review. Remote works with android devices? or just only with iDevices only? I am a music lover and a ocassional DJ, I don't know to buy this ones or Pioneer HDJ 1500. I know that they are for different type of listening, but I will use the one I'll buy for multiporpouse. Which do you recomend between them? thanks!

Man, I wish I could help on the Pioneer decision but I've not listened to them. If I remember correctly the controls did work on my Nexus 5.

I need a one liner on Focal Spirit One vs Sennheiser Momentum, really appreciate it. I own Spirit One, they're great but not comfortable even on my small ear size. I'm planning to get these and get rid of Focal. Thank-you in advance.

Which ones do prefer in: Comfort Sound quality Sound isolation and leakage Featres Design Overall SENNHEISER MOMENTUM OR V-MODA CROSSFADE M-100?
@spartanV4811 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I was struck between both, I went for the full sized momentums and I was definitely impressed myself. For comfort, I have averaged sized ears and they fit very comfortably with the momentums, m100s are comfortable too but not as comfortable as the momentums since the momentums are so light weight. As far as sound goes, momentums are really smooth sounding, fantastic all rounder headphone but if you are one to listen to mostly bassy music, rap, pop, etc, M-100s are better but if you listen to a large variety, momentums are better. The bass is still very good on the momentums. Momentums seem better for sound isolation and leakage. The build quality of the M-100s is superb so if you need great build quality meaning your headphone will take a massive beating, then M-100s are for you. The momentums do have a very nice premium build quality to it. So overall, if you want a great all rounder that is very comfortable, go for the momentums, if you want a fantastic build quality and emphasis on bass, M-100s are for you. For me personally, the momentums are better.

Comfort - M-100's simply because they'd work better for more people - the Momentums were lighter and just as cozy but if you have ears that are too large, they simply won't work SQ - Momentums - I prefer the warmer sound Isolation - Momentums - the M-100's leak a bit more sound Features - M-100's - about as versatile as it gets Design - I like the M-100's here as they shrink down to a size that will fit in the palm of your hand - extremely portable, etc. However, I prefer the way the Momentums look, but obviously that's personal preference. The M-100's can be customized with plates though which is pretty sweet. Overall - for me I'd get the Momentums. They have a tighter bass and a more engaging midrange and treble. They are incredibly comfortable if they'll fit your ears. I love the M-100's as well - best build quality I've ever seen in a set of headphones and their sound is good, it's just not the flavor I'd usually go for as it's darker. Hope this helps.
