Thanks for the video! I have a little doubt here... how should I record when using the IR on the MX5? I mean, if i go through my audio interface (hi z input), then I should use another amp and cab sim in my DAW and that would 'override' the IR used in my MX5, right? So what's the cleanest way to record to keep the MX5 sound as original as possible?

Can you upload IRs and amps like the Gorjira plugin? Into the headrush? Which pedal boards can if this one can't. Was looking at a used headrush gigboard.

Should be getting the mx5 Friday. Is it possible to split the signal of a 7 string in drop A, where one signal is made to sound more "bass-like" sent through bass amp/cab/effects while keeping a normal heavy tone on the other signal? Thanks for the videos, man. I'm learning a lot without even having it yet
@ThePedalGuy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do this. Just select the signal path that split the signal and you should be able to make that happen. I did something similar on a different YT vid with a bass rig on the flagship headrush but the method is still the same. Just look for that video on my Headrush playlist.

Hi Pedal guy, i have some questions I was looking to the model guide of the mx5, saw there's 15 IR's available, how come they advertise 300 available Ir's? How many stock presets are included? I saw like 270 is that right.
@ThePedalGuy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. Actually the 15 you are referring to are the cabinets. In addition to those 15 cabinets there are 300 impulse responses. Hope that clears it up

I've been doing this all wrong. I was adjusting my overall rig output to reduce the volume difference after applying a 3rd party IR- instead of using the gain on the IR itself. Other than that- I've been doing it this same way, but I bet using the gain on the IR to reduce the overall volume will sound better. Edit: Hmm- it's different, that's for sure- my rigs have more umph to them this way- and will have to be tweaked a bit but- it sounds good. I will say though- if you want to play with a band, you missed a very important part of using IRs- the low-cut parameter. If you leave it at 0 you will find that you're stepping all over the bass player. The Hi-cut parameter is useful for not stepping all over the cymbals, hi-hats, and vocals. Imo the best way to set them is to look at an EQ pedal for guitar- it starts at about 80Hz and goes up to around 11,000 -12,000Hz- so set your Low at 80 and your high at around 14,000 - and you'll be in about the right spot in the mix for guitar. And whoever is playing bass in your band- get them to do the same thing- accept, they need to set the ranges for bass- not guitar. Which tbh I don't know, but I would assume it's 0Hz to about 300 Hz. But don't hold me to that- the best thing to do would be look at a bass eq pedal and set your range accordingly. Past this- if you're still having trouble being heard in the mix crank up your mid-range and kill some bass.

Easiest way to record the IR's is to record them into a DAW on your computer. I am planning to shoot a video that will show you how to effectively use a computer with the HeadRush, which will include transferring IRs to the MX5

@@chrischris7180 the cabs have to be driven by something..... So in theory you can use an amp that has the amp and cab integrated to get the recording..... Then the profile of the speaker is recorded giving you an IR for that set up.....

Good evening! Can you tell me what is the frequency rate that the mx5 works? If it would be 44... or 48kz...? I would like to know to be able to use ir's with the same frequency as the pedalboard supports. And so get a better result. Thank you very much!
