The secret to tone on MX5 is download Ola England's The One IR and it eliminate all the cardboard crap sound in it. Loved the MX5 only with that IR in it 👍🏻

@@GearGasms your welcome.....it's a wonderful unit once you get all that thin cardboard sound out....also running into a great amp return can help....nothing through it sounds as good as Ola's IR though and I've tried them all lol

@@999slawter on the MX5 or older Headrush units all the newer cabs and IRs are not available that's in the newer units. A IR or Cabinet is basically the digital version of what in real life would be a cabinet....Mesa 2x12, Marshall 4x12 and so on...also IRs are shot with usually a 2 mic 🎤 set up just like the real world . Usually most popular combo is a SM 57 and a Ribbon 121 ....those two mics one pretty much enriches the highs and the other the lows....giving you the user or player a more 3d type of sound that's more open . Also when you get the right IR or in real world the right Amp and Cab set up a bit of magic begins to happen. Both the sound in your head or tone you are after begins to shape into it as you adjust amp settings, OD settings, EQ settings, effects settings and so on . Also once this begins to happen the feel under your fingers playing 🎸 gets more responsive......this is the short story answer to your question lol... Ola Englund IRs are easy to look up in Google and I think the entire pack is under $40 ....they basically are different versions of the same IR with different Mic 🎤 combinations. Maybe some Cab configuration too. If you are really broke at the moment a great free IR you can download is the 2 off press 5.....I believe it's a single IR of a mesa 2x12 with a 57 and 121 blend and it's great.... Ola's IR pack is just better especially for anything high gain....but I actually made wonderful cleans with the Engle Clean and the J120 in the MX5 when I had it .....I hope this helps a bit you are welcome to ask more questions whenever and I will help what I can. I never thought I’d buy a product like the MX5 before, but I realized that if I just wanted to try all the pedals I’m interested in, it would cost me way more than 800-1000 EUR (and I already have four really good pedals). But I saw that the Headrush MX5 is only 300 EUR on Thomann now, so I decided to buy one. I really need to explore it now, and your comment helped a lot! :)
