An educational researcher plans to study trauma but instead explores her lived experiences. Lisa Collins, Ed.D became her research subject after her medical doctor demanded she takes off from work. Lisa examined her racial trauma and found a solution and healing for herself and others. Lisa Collins is an educational professional with over 25 years of experience. She holds degrees in psychology and education and works as an Assistant Professor at Lewis and Clark College and a business consultant in Portland, Oregon. As a learning and development professional, Lisa supports talent management and business partners to solve workforce challenges. Lisa is a professional who provides healing frameworks to a world in need. Dr. Collins specializes in racial healing for people of color and non-people of color. She utilizes her life coaching from Conscious Freedom and spirituality to provide acceptance and space for connectedness and oneness in a world that needs it so much. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Im literally going thru this rn.. it started when i realized how hard it was to date other ethnic groups.. then i realized i was mad and even exhausted of being the "good" one.. yknow that stereotypical person in every group that people assume has it all together or at least more than their peers.. im emotionally exhausted from dealing with hugely polar social experiences. My daily life with majority of my ethnic group is one way and others are different. But i have serious injuries and it seems like people keep putting more on my plate. Literally looking for motivation to keep being inclusive because im literally exhausted.

I relate to your comment. The cycles kept me reacting instead of being at peace. The start for me was connecting to my body. Try to find some kind of care where you can grab any form of peace. It does not matter how long. Sorry it took me so long to respond.

Exactly! You think it is something you did or did not do. The cycle of it is very difficult.

I think part of this cycle comes from generational trauma too. Our lives and the lives of those who came before us.

Does this feel inauthentic to anyone else? The delivery is so disjointed and performative. I'm trying to seek perspective in support of healing, not be read a storytime about it.
