@obviouslykaleb79983 жыл бұрын
Ifrit is a hell of a tutorial. It’s a challenge for everyone involved: the tank is NECESSITATED to turn him around immediately because of the flame breath cone, the DPS need to change targets to the needle and the healer has to heal the damage of the cone while attacking the needle. It is the perfect Hall of Novice vibe check and I find it glorious.

1:39 First big pull. JC hits 182 HP due to getting hit by Eyes on Me outside of crystal's protection (purple area on ground). Shortly following, tank takes big pull of mobs outside of crystal's protection (makes you take significantly less damage from ALL attacks and is why tanks can get away with big pulls in this part of the dungeon), and Jesse has to spam big heals to keep tank health up. 8:35 Second big pull, tank's health hits 125 (!!!) while Jesse gets into position. 15:03 Third big pull. Tank death. Could have been a wipe here, but since JC hadn't cast any healing spells, he had no aggro and the mobs went after the BLMs rather than himself. BLMs running away saved a near wipe. Yeah, no. You're aren't remembering correctly lmao. Wall to wall tanking has been a think since 2.0. Some of the early lvl 50 dungeons they actually tried added a bunch of artificial stops because players were complaining it was too stressful as wall to wall tanking was the expected strat (tanks felt pressured to pull wall to wall and healers felt stressed healing giant pulls). So SE made dungeons like Haukke Manor (hard) where there are a tons of doors that stop you from doing big pulls. And just about everyone HATED it. Heck, I remember for Dzemael Darkhold, a common strat is actually pull everything all the way to the room before the eye and you can tank at the crystal area there. There's a little corner that you can run into as the tank to LoS the ranged mobs so everything would be stacked together in the crystal area. Worked great especially if you had a WHM to help with aoe killing (and aoe stuns). I remember PF groups would actually just grind that pull from 44-50 even (they would just leave the duty as soon as they would finish that pull and re-enter.

BUT! I DEFINITELY remember the first time I ran a dungeon with a tank who did a big pull... We wiped... veeeery quickly... Did you know.... That way...way... back in ARR 2.0 when leveling was actually really grindy and F.A.T.E.S gave very little Exp. getting past lvl44-50 was a real hurdle, especially when trying to level multiple jobs/classes. Spamming the first floor before the first boss was the fastest way to grind exp... At the time dropping out of a dungeon did not incur a penalty so pre-made parties would form, enter the dungeon, and do a wall-to-wall pull of the ENTIRE first floor and then just leave and requeue. The trick was that, staying within the blue light of the crystals gave a MASSIVE defensive buff... especially to the tank. The healer essentially spam holy/heals while the deeps (ideally black mages) aoe everything down... Once they buffed F.A.T.E.S the spamming of Dzemael quickly feel out of favour and the F.A.T.E. It's a very bad idea to pull wall to wall in early dungeons, most specifically because healers' curative repertoires are SEVERELY limited that early on. Hell, tank damage mitigation actions are limited. I see it all the time if I get Arumn Vale. Pulling wall to wall in the very first room is tantamount to suicide 😆
@Nukerunin3 жыл бұрын
A smart tank would look at their healer's mana to double check if the pull was too much and weigh it against the lowest the tank's HP dropped during the pull. But that requires more than 2 brain cells to do. Not everyone has that. I tend to start off light with a double pack and evaluate my DPS' performance + clear speed. If I've got at least one straight up killer, healer's mana is good, I never dip too low, then I know I can keep pushing it. From what I've experienced with low-end BLMs, I would never go HAM with two BLMs in low-end content LOL. Their damage is almost always crappy and my tanks literally out DPS them by thousands of damage. I've even seen WHMs steamroll them in DPS. It's hilarious. I'm actually going to max a BLM out just so I can see if they're just that bad early on, or if it's the players.
@jaylee93723 жыл бұрын
As a BLM main, it's a bit a both. There are a lot of nuances to maximizing BLM that some people just don't notice on their own but also don't look up guides for assistance. There's also the fact that our AOE is pretty weak until 50 because our "maximal" rotation is legit just Freeze spam + keep Thunder dot uptime. The fact that our Ice AOE spell actually calculates stronger than our Fire AOE spell during that phase kinda tells you all you need to know. Getting Enochian at lvl 56 and Fire4 at 60 are THE game changers though. We can already do decent, if middling damage, but that's the moment when BLM gets stupidly good if you know what you're doing. And it only gets EVEN BETTER from there.

@@jaylee9372 That's what I was assuming. Good to know. I've already experienced how crappy their AOE is in the 30s, but it's good to hear it gets better. Since I posted that, I have encountered ONE BLM who did exceptionally well and topped the chart. He gave me hope.

Healing is not that bad. _[Watches tank Leroy Jenkins in video]_ Okay healing can be bad sometimes. 😆

Lmao as a Sch Whm main I’ve experienced this LOL. Crazy balls to the wall tank. I literally couldn’t spam cure fast enough at one point. We got through on the skin of our teeth.

Healing is stressful in FFXIV if you're not prepared for it. But if you are a masochist, I suggest becoming a healer for a Blue Mage raid lol.

Poor, Jess. Your aspected benefic would have made your life so much easier.

Woooooo! Also, love the idea of Tank/Healer pull aftercare. Lol.

Wait, you actually use default keybinds (1,2,3...)? Or do you have like an MMO mouse. That's some serious hand-stretch to reach the 9's and 0's. And the F keys too? Holy shit, that's was old when old-school was new.
@g1Chikumo3 жыл бұрын
While that tank probably should have checked beforehand if you're okay with wall to walls, more liberal use of aspected benefic and weaving essential dignity as a panic heal would have helped you tons to made things less stressful! Not to mention! At the 15.00 death?! The numbnut pulled big and only popped mitigation when he was one hit from death?! That's -not- a move an experienced tank would make.

I'm a tank main and that was some nonsense that guy was pulling.

I'm a tank main since 2.0. We've been doing that opening DD pull for years. That's how we used to farm XP before FATE trains.

His only mistake was leaving crystal buff too many times. Otherwise you legit can't die no matter how much you pull.

Lawd, ma anxiety! As a non-MMORPG player all the numbers, names and bars are slightly triggering! Music’s bangin’ though

Ah typical ShB Warrior doing pre ShB content. "Too many pulls? Wdym, I have the best mitigation in game, the HEALER" then proceeds to forget line of sight is a thing.
@Orchestructive3 жыл бұрын
This was a 2.0 strat. This used to be how you farmed XP.

As a main healer... You just learn to do it better. Honestly its those insane tanks that really get my heart pumping and i do secretly love the challenge. Eventually you get bored of dps and caution and hope for the big pulls to spice shit up.
@Mochachocakon3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I think I drop tanks more often in single pulls than mass pulls because I get so bored casting Broil over and over again because there's no immediate danger.
@Mellow_Owl3 жыл бұрын
@@Mochachocakon oh same! I get distracted and tend to start watching videos and shit when its only a couple enemies a pull. XD but you go wall to wall, I will pull off some insane heals and proclaim myself a god among men. Even better when you master slide casting
@Shiirow3 жыл бұрын
its not a fun experience as a tank either, to have to pick up mobs the dps face pulled, only to be told by the same dps " you shouldnt pull so much, the healer is new ".

Hahaha as a Sch and Whm main I’ve had a few tanks like that. Totally crazy and I can only just keep the party alive. Only once in Bleak Vigil did a tank pull so many mobs I was literally spamming my highest Cure and it wasn’t enough. Give credit where it’s due though, he did slow down a little to a survivable rate for the rest.
@Lagzlot3 жыл бұрын
Normally pulling that much in Dismal Darkhold is supposed to be easy because of the big defense buff that standing in the crystal light gives you. Too bad nobody except Jesse was doing that. Also those black mage's rotations are... off.
@jaylee93723 жыл бұрын
> Also those black mage's rotations are... off. They seem fine to me? Freeze spam + maintain Thunder dot for 3+ enemies. Blizz3 -> Thunder3 -> Fire3 -> Fire spam + procs for 2 or less. That's really all they can do at that level tbh.

Darkhold is possibly the worst dungeon in ARR to be healer. So much can go wrong and your tools to deal with it are limited. AV is a close second.
