Pneumonia is not something you can "catch". It's a biological result of being "scared to death" of something which is exactly what the media has done to people dumb enough to watch them. You've heard the term "Worried sick". That's because your BRAIN causes you to become sick due to the stress it is perceiving! Why do you think young kids aren't getting the Boogey Virus? Because they aren't sitting in front of the news being scared to death because they're too young to understand a Fear Campaign. These pathetic "experts" just make shit it up to explain their narrative as they go. First they tell you kids bring home every illness from school because they're not "exposed" to enough things, then they say somehow they're immune to a Boogey Virus? Does anyone have common sense?! You don't show the symptoms of "disease" until you stop being panicked and afraid. These symptoms usually show up 1-2 weeks after you've relaxed and resolved the upsetting event.

Oh wow, so happy to see the work of Dr John Sarno is being shared on your platform! I am a Sarno student who found relief after almost 7 years of suffering (1995-2002). I was one of those doubters, but I kept following his instructions and completely recovered. I still instruct my brain almost on a daily basis. Yes, it's unbelievable as we have been programmed to believe it's structural all our lives but it is that powerful organ at the very top of us! After all, "The brain is the most complex part of the human body. This three-pound organ is the seat of intelligence, interpreter of the senses, initiator of body movement, and controller of behavior." Guess we should add and the suppressor of emotions to that one too!

I’m an anxious person. Always were. Even if I try to modulate it with meditation, nature and sports. During a hard time of my life I suffered from severe stress for many confluent reasons: work, my own perfectionism, my brother’s suicide, and other daily life wrecks. I am sure that my colon cancer (fortunately in remission and under controls every two years) soon after that episode, was a cry of help of my own body. Mind has great power over Body. Of course! Thanks for talking about it so openly, Mayim & Jonathan! 💜

We learned this in the 70s for birthing and it really DOES help! I had 2 kids without so much as an aspiring because of what I learned in Lamaze classes. Needless to say, they were not surgical births but I have used those same techniques for many injuries over the years. Right now I have a newly repaired broken patella and with Lamaze techniques have had to take only a few motrin after the first 2 days post surgery. Great topic- as always.

Ms Bialik, I have HUGE respect for you. I wanted to settle that first. But for four years, freshman to senior year of high school, my back pain was first blamed on my weight, then on the fact I was taking a high-stress academic schedule, plus working in the school’s theatre, plus having a job at my city’s zoo. Finally, a mistake was made, and after I can’t remember how many front to back X-rays, I was turned on my side, again, unintentionally. Finally, I was diagnosed with Schuermanns Kyphosis and Schuermanns Disease, and in six months I would have started to suffocate from my spine pushing my diaphragm and lungs so much I wouldn’t have been able to breathe. My doctor brought in a specialist, they trained for as short a period of time while making sure they could do the surgery safely and effectively (it is a rare disease, Richard of York supposedly had it, and only within the last 25-30 years were people surviving and walking after the surgery). I had excellent surgeons and specialists, but this is basically what happened: two stainless steel Herrington rods on either side of the spine, then shatter the spine, and rebuilding it like a Jenga tower with bits of bone, bits of steel, and 12 stainless steel nails to keep it erect. I am fused from T3 to L5. I can no longer do half or more of what filled my life because I also developed fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I do agree ones outlook effects how you feel and deal with pain. But it isn’t all in your head, and it’s not all because you clench your muscles. There are times that, even with my opiate pain meds, I don’t sleep for multiple days in a row, because the slightest pressure on any part of my body is too much and I cry all night, when I am alone and no one can see me. Those days are the hardest. What helps me is realizing pain, in various forms, is universal. But suffering from pain is a personal choice you make, and then I surrender, and I might pass out for just a few hours, but those few hours can keep me sane until the flare is gone and my normal day/ night sleeping schedule is re established. It’s not all in my head, but my choices about it are. Btw, I loved you in TBBT. You made being a nerd cool. Thank you. Also, I admire you went after both your passions, then your third; a family. Talk about balance! Big fan.

While I agree so much with this, and I think it’s what allowed me to stay in the workplace as long as I did, because my onset of daily pain coincided with pregnancy, and I was very independent and type A, everyone assumed someone else had investigated my pain or wrote it off as new mommy syndrome. My son was written off and actually had food allergies- but I fought for him. It took me ten years to be diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis, and by then I had permanent damage. If a person tells you her truth, please listen. I was told my pain would “just go away,” even when I had concrete evidence of my disease years before diagnosis- just didn’t have the right person reading the test results. Follow your gut. I’m so thankful to the nurse who pointed out the Raynauds in my hands that I’d had since I was a kid that pointed me in the right direction, to a rheumatologist.

Best way to get to the root of any pain or discomfort in the body is, while you're experiencing pain, ask yourself "How does this make me feel?", put an emotional word on it. Once you come up with the emotion, anger, frustration, etc. realize that emotion was there long before the pain showed up. That emotion had to get loud enough to get your attention. Pain is just an "Indicator" of how you've been feeling.

I never thought of differentiating the emotion like that. I've had more random pains of discomforts this past year and I act like a hypochondriac. The main emotion I feel when I notice pains is WORRY. Thank you for this comment I have a direction to head in!

I aggree fully, this realisation saved me when I had my beakdown/burnout. My body went into total fail mode, I was unable to walk for days. I quickly learned body and mind are one. I do have chronic pain due to arthrosis and rheuma and even those are worse when I am stressed. In my case stress pain travells which is weird to me. The pain in itself is always the same but just in a different location, the newest one is my jaw, I do have arthrosis in that side of my jaw, had that for years now but due to recent stress (wanting to move and now the actual move) it started to hurt and that one sucks! But it does prevent stress eating so thats a plus hahaha. I do want to give the sidenote that people do need to know their body real well and be totally honest because pain can be a sign of things real serious (like cancer) and those diagnoses can be missed when people think its all mental....I know my body too well now, to the point doctors and dentists either hate or respect me. I dont go in a dentist office with "some tooth on the right hurts" but "my 2nd to last molar on the right bottom has an infection" they dont like that (especially since I have yet to be proven wrong) and it was real scary when I knew I had an infection spreading through my jawbone and no dentist wanted to listen. I finally found one and within the hour they pulled the molar and scraped my jaw clean of infection, I had to go onto anti biotics for 2 weeks. It could have killed me....but i'm still here and learned a valuable lesson...

Firstly, love the Podcast. Secondly, rewatching Blossom and must say I still love it as I did as a kid. Love that Blossom is a "normal" teenager and not overly sexed like so many teenage girls are portrayed in shows today and even in the 90's.

I believe my fibromyalgia came from years of tension. I can not relax! I stay tensed up. I had a phycologist teach me how to lay and breathe through each area of my body. It works! But I don't make time to do it very often.

Thank you amy farrah fowler 😅😅 I read healing backpain from john sarno and halfway trough i started noticing i was getting better.. after 2 years of strong backpain I'm a tileworker... so i almost just accepted it like okay this is what I'm up to for the rest of my life ( 31 now) It's not to good to be true !!! That was my first thought Its not 100% Gone... but i can do workouts again without being afraid of the pain i would say its 75% better I believe if i go dig deeper in this theory i get it up to 100% I'm so glad i found this book "early" and not after 15 years of pain Man.. what a discovery

I was born in pain. I've had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis all my life, to which lupus was added when I was 14 and fibromyalgia entered the picture after the birth of my son. I've been on opioids for about 25 years and I would love to be able to stop taking them and be without pain. I have been meditating off and on for most of my life and, though it's helped considerably with my anxiety (complex PTSD), it hasn't done anything much for my physical pain. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I don't know, but I know that consuming gluten or NSAID'S medication is not good for pain in the long term since gluten raises inflammation in the body. Also milk and dairy. You should probably keep trying to find out what's wrong and research a lot. Help yourself, have faith and don't give up.

I'm 17 and earlier i was misdiagnosed with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis. I have been completely bedridden for the past 1.5 years. There was a point that even chewing food was super painful. Soon we found that it was fibromyalgia all along but nobody could figure out what caused it. So I'm technically living on painkillers and tapentadol sprays. I would love to hear some advice

2:00 Try the powdered Magnesium Ascorbate to help relax muscles. Much of the public is deficient of Magnesium and one of the major symptoms is muscle spasms which are painful. You don't need much and the form I mentioned is water soluble. Tastes a bit lemony so I often mix it with something that has a similar taste. About 1/8t tsp. A little goes a long ways as it's very concentrated.
