Thank you both! There are probably a lot of us who appreciate hearing from someone who's found her way successfully through a number of ups and downs. "Find something more important to you than healing from this pain and put all of your energy into those things."

CPPS survivor. This resonates so much with me. Thank you for providing these videos. Even though I haven't felt any effects in 4 years, it's a great reminder to be more mindful and you can always learn more and incorporate new techniques to help stave off future symptoms. This was a great story!

Thanks so much for sharing, terrific description of how you did it. If I understand it, it was a matter of accepting it is a nervous system issue, use the DARE method, and just live life, don't make concessions to the pain, break the fear-avoidance cycle. Sounds like journaling and meditating were not really an integral portion of your recovery?
@soniagreen19412 жыл бұрын
No journaling or meditation that's right. Those initially worked for me, but not with this relapse. I knew if I gave up my fitness routine I would get worse. So I stuck with my workouts and shifted my obsessive attention from pain to perfecting my long cycle technique. Remember, any attention you give the symptoms, even the "right" attention, makes them hang around

Yes I’m so sorry to hear that with your parents. That could easily create the symptoms you speak of- in this case the symptoms would be emotions in your jaw

Sonia, do you mind sharing how exactly you framed your sentences in your journal? Just a random sample would be helpful. Was it mostly about how the pain was impacting your life or was it trying to address the deep emotional issues and stressors that you felt were triggering and perpetuating your symptoms? Also, what did you tell yourself when the symptoms were raging for, say, hours on end without remitting? Was the 'Dare' stance enough? Did you allow yourself to shed tears of anger and bitterness? And finally, how much was your anxiety centered around the pain itself -- rather than what could be causing the pain -- in the latter part of your journey? Did fearful anticipation invariably bring on the pain? Thanks.

Really enjoyed the interview Jim! I have been improving and its nice that I dont have to put tons of effort into thinking my way out of an uncomfortable sensation. I am open to feelling all sensations now and realize most of them are anxiety and worry sensations. Any tips on getting rid of obsession about thinking about the pain so I don't have to focus on it a lot?
@soniagreen19412 жыл бұрын
Find something else to obsess about. But something you enjoy for fun. For me it was my kettlebell sport technique. I watched myself on video and compared it to the pros and worked hard on improving my kettlebell long cycle. I wanted to be the best kettlebell sport athlete WITH pain. Either that or act like it will never leave and then live the best life you can WITH it

Sonia gave a great response and I agree with her. Glad Matt you are making progress with some of our sessions and opening to your sensations and feelings with not worrying about them. Yeah I’d say just keep relaxing and letting go and go live your life just call these sensations out for what they are when they come which is just anxiety and Move on all the best!!

Reach out if you want some one on one coaching or there’s a lot of resources on my KZbin channel or you can go to the TMS wiki or PPDA website for more info. Books by Dr. Sarno and Dr. Schubiner and Steve Ozanich are helpful in understanding the concepts

Hi, I noticed that after chronic pain started from emotional issues that I have gotten really tight on my right side (buttock/si/low back hamstring) area and feels like it’s in my fascia. When I go to do a down dog my right side lights up with pain. If we are to engage in normal activity how do I interpret the actual physical tightness and will the tightness go away with emotional release or ?
@thepainpt Жыл бұрын
Yes relax into the symptom with nonreaction to it. Always do that with all TMS symptoms. Then do some type of emotional exploration, work, looking at what these feelings could still be, that are playing into the symptoms.
@loungydoc Жыл бұрын
@@thepainpt ok thanks sometimes it gets confusing, with pain I can non react but with say tightness I feel like I want to “do something” for it.

Sarah, I can relate to what you’re going through. I am on the TMS journey as well…. After 20 years of on and off pain in my head, neck, and back….. more “on” than “off.” After diagnostic tests, physical therapy, massage, and acupuncture I finally found Dr. Sarno and his TMS work. I’ve had limited success. My back pIn has disappeared, but the head and neck are stubborn. Distraction is my friend. When having a good time, chatting and laughing with friends, reading a good book, listening to soul-soothing music, the pain is gone. Once I take notice, it, it comes back 😞. The one thing I hear suggested that I haven’t tried is journaling. I simply don’t know how to start. I’ve never kept a diary. Best of luck on your journey to PaIn Free! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
