I was thinking about getting this gear indicator, but I'm starting to think about buying a $15,000.00 bike with an indicator would be easier. Now I have to figure out how to break the news to my wife. Thanks for sharing.

That's awesome. Just show her this video and say how difficult it is on these old bikes!

2012 R6-This tutorial was on point. I bought an off-brand but it was all exactly the same. The plug-ins are are self-explanatory and I used the Grey wire off the Crankshaft side(black heat shrink) to tap into for the shift indicator(green/black wire). I then ran the 12volt (red/black wire) to the blue/red wire off my integrated brake light. I was able to attach a male bullet connector end and plug and play. Then just program like the instructions say and you are good to go. Pale Rider thanks as this made it that much easier to accomplish.

thanks for the explanation, it was a huge help that you gave me to make the application on my r6 🙏🙏🙏🙏

you're welcome. I could find about 80% of the explanations through other videos and thought it would be helpful for others to have more of those critical areas documented

what gauge are the wires you snap into? great job on explaining the tricky part!
@palerider66112 жыл бұрын
Thanks T, I'm not sure of the exact gage, but the wires you snap into for both signal and power are about the same size as those wires that come with the gear indicator. Hope that answers your question

If I have an aftermarket harness where would I hook into for the power with the red wire?
@palerider6611 Жыл бұрын
Not sure. I dont want go give advice that's going to fry your system, but I would think any low power line to brake or tail lights would work.
@Drewrides89 Жыл бұрын
@pale rider I tapped into the blinker relay and it worked out, And that was my biggest concern was possibly frying the system

Hi, was the red wire long enough to reach back to the brake sensor power or did you have to use additional wire? Thanks
@palerider66112 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce, for me there was sufficient length. However, this is a track bike and I have no brake lights. So I could route the OEM brake/tail light bundle back toward the ECU. If you need to maintain the brake light connector position, you could try to strip back some of the electrical tape far enough so that you can tie in the red power line to the blue OEM line. Or as you suggested, you may need some additional line. I could never find the connector they mention in the instructions that is supposedly closer to the gas tank. Any line that you can find that is active when the ignition is on should work.

So was it the gray one on the crank?
@palerider66112 жыл бұрын
The two wires coming from the crankshaft position sensor looked light gray and dark gray. I tapped into the pair that had one wire blue and the other gray. From that pair I tapped into the gray wire

@@palerider6611 ok perfect I’m literally doing it right now. The instructions have grey wire in bold but not clear like you said so wanted confirmation before I cut wires. I’m a mechanic so I can’t use scotch locks. lol
