OMG JJ Virgin…I’m a huge fan since her first book was released. Her book literally launched my journey to health. And her Sugar Impact book has been my gift to many friends over the years. Thank you for a great podcast 💖

Interesting discussion on dieting from decades ago. Concepts like eating fat to lose fat or high protein diets didn't exist in the 80's or 90's. Back then as a very active athlete, I followed the poor but popular advice of eating high carb, low fat diets for years, which did a number on my insulin resistance and gut health. And I didn't eat any junk food! My health got so bad from all the carbs, I had to stop competing athletically. Fortunately I am in a much better place thankful for new diet science and advocates of proper nutrition and exercise like the those in this podcast. I still run into people today who think eating fat is inherently bad.

Bringing back some 80s memories; teaching aerobics, personal training, AND avoiding eating fat at all costs, especially getting ready for a bodybuilding competition. Oh, and definitely binging on Snackwells during the off season, because they are fat free and yummy. Between that and getting implants, I did a number on my health but looked super fit. Good health was an assumption until I developed autoimmune disorders. At least I kept learning and trying to improve as I aged. Great convo ladies!!!!

Akkermansia helps if you are low in it to begin with. And I think we may have been referring to Pendulum's new product
