In this video I am sharing with you all how to make a healthy, eggless, wholewheat dates and walnut loaf cake that has no added refined sugar or butter yet is a super soft, moist and yummy cake.
Eggless Dates and Walnut Loaf Cake is what I call a surprise cake!!
You know why??
A. It does not have any added sugar to it, yet perfect sweetened enough for a tea time cake.
B. This Eggless Dates and Walnut Cake is super soft, even though there are no eggs in it. (obviously, thats why its termed Eggless right.. ;) stupid me)
C. Surprisingly moist cake. all thanks to dates.
D. A crumbly and nutty cake
E. Another element of surprise is that it hardly takes any preparation time. If you exclude the soaking part then it just needs 10 mins of your active mixing time that's it. Bake and enjoy.
Perfect for back to school and one of the best way to introduce dates and nuts in your kids diet.
Plus this hardly takes any time to make. Thats the best part.

Perfection! I tried it and it was delicious. To cut the time, i soaked the dates in warm milk for 5 minutes then put them in the blender and it was perfectly fine. I also added cinnamon, nutmag, ginger and cloves. Thank you for sharing

I tried it and it came out looking & tasting delicious. Aptly soft; everyone loved it. I followed the exact same receipe as shown here. Also it was my first experience at baking cakes. Love it. Simple, easy & delicious

A really good recipe. One suggestion - can you provide the measures in grams/ounces? Sometimes using the cup measurements, I am not able to achieve correct consistency.

I made this cake today. It was a litmus test for me. Because my super smart ,junk food guzzling son might find it was made of WWF. BUT... He LIKED it!. Thanks so much. Now I can make this often and also plan to tweak with some millet flours. The cake was soft , moist and delicious.

Hi Sushma....I tried ur recipe today and my God it was extremely superb. Loved it to the core.Actually I baked this cake twice in this week itself.My family loved the cake and I was so happy it came out pitch perfect both the times. Hi Sushma, I made the loaf yesterday and it was delicious. I usually prefer adding eggs to my baked goods but i was keen to try this eggless recipe. I didn't have many dates so i halved it and it was soft, moist and so tasty. I actually viewed your no knead bread video and seen this video n tried it out. It was really healthy and tasty too. I added also few chocolate chips to it. Thanks alot for this lovely recipe😊

Thanks for the recipe. I made it using pressure cooker and it turned out to be quite delicious. I am now planning to buy an electric tandoor. Can that be used for baking the cake and bread or regular oven is must? If any specific brand is good, please do let me know.

Ipre heated oven to 180 C. . Then baked the cup cakes for approximately Twenty Min. I had heated milk & then put dates in it,They became soft in about 30 mins. Then inthe chutney grinder I put the soaked dates & not the entire milk. When the dates became mushy, I gradually added the milk. This way I got almost homogenous paste. Then I followed your recipe completely. A trick which I had learnt from my daughter(She is head of Nutrition Dept. Nirmala Niketan)I added 1/4 tsp of lime juice.This makes cakes very light.She & my grand daughter, also loved the cakes. Once again thanks a lot for this recipe.BTW. I am83+ and very fond of baking bread.I keep on hunting for new recipes on the You Tube.@@bakewithspicesandflavors

Dear Sushma, Is there any reason you could not add an egg? I am thinking, to reduce the milk a bit if I add an egg, to keep the liquids in balance. Or is this recipe truly better without any egg? Thank you for such a lovely video.

Always baking powder se half baking soda rehta h but in your recipe , opposite h . Is that right?

Hi I tried this recipe today it turned out super moist and soft but was less sweet despite adding around 25 dates ..... should I be adding jaggery or something to make it sweeter n in what measurement ? Or any specific brand of dates that would be sweeter

Hi Chaitali.. what kind of dates are you using?? Mejdool works great for this recipe.. you can add jaggery if you like but dates should be just fine to be honest..

Micromadam micro you can definitely bake this in a cooker.. the timing would be approximately the same.. since I have not yet baked this in cooker cannot guide you the exact time but try it out for the same time should work.. thank you

Hi Shyama.. Theoretically, you can absolutely bake anything in a cooker but practically I have not yet experimented with this recipe so sorry but won't be able to guide you on the queries. Maybe you can experiment and update here that would benefit many :) Thank you
