I’m still pregnant with my first, but my own parents tried to avoid “no” also! They were more of the approach that you mentioned with “yuck”, tho. Rather than say “don’t do that” or “no” they would just tell us the consequences. For example, if we were running somewhere we shouldn’t have been they might say, “that will hurt you” or “you’re going to fall”. When we did, we learned to trust what our parents said to us, and we turned out to be extremely well-behaved children everywhere out in public.

As for berry stains on clothes I always use hot water an vinegar an let it sit for about 5 minutes, give it a rinse and they are as good as new!

Yes! Everything you touched on is exactly what I have been doing for years and have shared with my friends. It definitely works. For laundry I give my child the job of finding all of the socks and then try and match them. So less stressful.

Something about the no and dont do thing you said. Im a child educator and what you said is so true. Not only does it remind them of what they wanted to do like "dont touch it", it doesnt tell them the expected action. Ok you dont touch it... You throw it, lick it, pock it, kick it... But if you say "can we use something else to play?" They will have to think and make a choice theyll get a good reaction for! It helps them develop their judgement as well as decision making.

Teaching children the power of the word no is very important (literally teaching them consent!). But it is important to use it appropriately in a way that teaches boundaries instead of it being a default.
@HealthNutNutrition2 жыл бұрын
I agree and I also think that when overused it takes away the meaning behind it. I would rather save it for when she is in actual danger so she knows when I say no I mean it.

Hi Nicole I got a question about the high chair what is that attached to a surface how safe is it I just worry about falling out that’s why I’m still on the fence about purchasing.. I also love the part where he said Sage likes to show you all her gymnastic tricks during diaper change and I laughed so hard because my daughter is the same way and I have to give her something to distract her with might give the toothbrush a go

I'm saddened that I can't find anti-inflammatory sea salt snacks because of the seed oils they use. I used to get away with it but now with an autoimmune disease I can't. I WISH you could help me track down those healthy sea salt good oil salty snacks with no sugar or preservatives. Praying. Update: I'm sorry Nikole, I'm thinking Keto as well to keep my simple carbs down in between meals with a thyroid disease which is one of the few ways to keep my much needed weight down because my numbers are so well I can't take medication.

Hi, thanks for the hacks! Do you have any suggestions for what to do instead of saying no when you can't get up and redirect them?
@HealthNutNutrition2 жыл бұрын
A quick example would be: let’s leave that alone it could hurt you instead of NO put that down. I feel that the first word always being no ends up getting them angry right away so instead I try to switch it up and explain why she can’t play with it.

I really appreciate your strategy on redirecting them to something else instead of saying no. What do you do in situations where the baby is doing something that would be a serious safety risk, and it isn’t just something that would be annoying to the adults? So like if she climbed onto the dishwasher when it was down and tried to grab a knife? How do you teach her that she truly cannot be touching the knife? Redirecting just seems like diverting her attention, but does she actually ever learn that she shouldn’t be touching the knife? I hope that makes sense. I would much rather not have to say the word no 1 million times a day. 🤗😁
@surlespasdondine2 жыл бұрын
Nikole said somewhere she uses "no" for dangerous situations. My niece used to sit next to electric plugs and go "no no no".😂
@HealthNutNutrition2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly we definitely still use no but I think it’s over used. If she’s in a dangerous situation I get serious and make it very apparent that it’s a hard no.
@jessicamansfield32732 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna have to get an electric toothbrush lol
@tahinajafi44012 жыл бұрын
You better lineup your next distractions because she's gonna get bored of the toothbrush sooner than you think. Even though I hid them after nappy change. So far I've gone through a multiple colors click pen, a compact mirror, my floss, a Mickey mouse bobblehead, some squeaky toys and a tiny old-fashioned alarm clock (that I always set to ring/ vibrate) to name a few and my baby is just 1 year old :v
@tahinajafi44012 жыл бұрын
