This. And one of the differences between western mayo and japanese kewpie mayo is that while it uses soy based vegetable oil, it also uses just the egg yolk, which is the best, most nutritious part of the egg. It is entirely possibe to make an at home, healthy mayonnaise, that will beat any spiced blended nut mayo substitute.
@ccap32115 жыл бұрын
Lyon TheGreat oil is still a processed food. Cashews are not. And you’re getting protein with the cashews. It’s still a better option. But yes, homemade mayo made with avocado or olive oil is better than regular mayo. But it’s still not as healthy as cashew cream.
@valentin-razvanlupu48685 жыл бұрын
The egg yolk is indeed the most nutritious part of the egg but I don't think it's what you are looking for. Egg yolks are very very calorie dense and contain a fair bit of cholesterol(arguably a little more HDL than LDL but you really wanna limit intake of LDL). Keep in mind, nutritious does not necessarily mean healthy.

Cashews are known as the natural anti depressants, so cashew cream/milk is a brilliant way to shake up adding them to your diet to boost serotonin. Also, try to reduce carbs, but don't cut them completely (unless you're on a sugar/carbless diabetic diet), as consuming copious amounts of carbs have been found to make depression worse. So substituting regular pasta for lentil pasta is a great way to get some extra protein, and avoid too many carbs.

Oat milk is a great alternative to regular milk. Easy to make too.
@cookadequacy56085 жыл бұрын
Oat has very little protein, potassium and calcium and can sometimes have added sucrose, which is much more unhealthy than the lactose sugars in milk.

Although I suppose it is handy for the lactose intolerant.

About how long will the cashew cream be good for?
@sujurean5 жыл бұрын
Personally experience speaking, it's probably best to use it within a week. I'd imagine cashew cream developing a funky smell after a while. However, you can store raw dry cashews in the fridge for a long long time without them going bad. Also, for one cup of cashew cream = 1 cup of soaked cashews and just enough liquid to get the blender running smoothly.

I think if you have nut allergies but are allowed to eat peanuts, you might be able to switch out the cashews for those. It is probably what I would try as I'm not allergic to peanuts or almonds, but am pretty much to everything else.

i made the red lentil pasta last night and it was amazing! i used chickpea and brown pasta instead of red lentil pasta because that's what i had, and added mushrooms and spinach as well as tomatoes and prawns. my family were amazed that the sauce is just made of pasta water and cashew cream! would recommend!

@Ghost Killer Generally vegan diets are more about animal and environmental welfare than personal health.
@littlekitsune15 жыл бұрын
Ghost Killer Vegan means not eating animal products at all, such as cheese and eggs, not just meat. It's different from vegetarian, and there are several reasons people do it ranging from their beliefs to allergies or other health problems. Let's not go out of our way to leave judgemental comments on other people's eating habits, all right? It's unnecessary at best.
