Some people have health/dietary restrictions that are literally killing them. Other’s realize the negative effects of the standard Western diet. Yes we’re all gonna die but having the option to buy more time through healthy choices is a reasonable choice for a lot of people. If you’re not interested in healthful snack alternatives for yourself, I’d probably reconsider watching a video that’s part of a segment literally titled: “Healthy Snacks”

I like Tiffany! But organic ingredients does not equal to healthy when she explained about replacing cane sugar with organic sugars. Maybe she could not think another alternative sugar on the spot. E.g. using organic white/brown sugar is not healthy as compared to lets say, dates.

3auka88 - Do you know what is organic sugar? They are not natural sugars. I can buy organic brown sugar but is it the same as natural sugar ? Nope. I’m pretty sure she knows the difference, like I mentioned in my comment above. Just saying she could have given a better example since the purpose of this video is to educate .

Wow, okay, it's really misinforming to say that Himalayan salt is healthy and table salt is not. They both contain sodium chloride. Himalayan salt is far better because of the added mineral content but it is still salt and isn't any better in high amounts. She also says "words that laypersons wouldn't understand" as if that's a bad thing - sure, it's good to understand what you're eating, but that doesn't mean all difficult words are bad for you. One of the words underlined was "maltodextrose" which is a type of sugar, but on the other hand if a product contained tocopheryl acetate it's not a bad sign - it's vitamin E and is added to some peanut butters to make it smoother instead of adding a less nutritious oil like canola. In some countries, nutritionist is a regulated term that is accredited, but in Singapore anyone can call themselves a nutritionist - this wouldn't necessarily be a warning sign but absolutely anyone can call themselves a naturopath. It is not medical at all. Considering the faulty advice she gives this video should not be taken as educational at all. Please talk to your GP or ask to be referred to a DIETICIAN for dietary advice.

It's a little more complicated than saying "x fat is not good." For example, many fats such as coconut oil are a mix of saturated and unsaturated fat. Lard and tallow may be good for cooking but they contain cholesterol. Also, canola oil has linoleic acid which is an essential fatty acid.

Great video, but I think the nutritionist should've taken the nutritional values of the snacks into consideration as well. The kale chips were healthy but what about its sodium content (since they commented on how its flavour packed). Does the amount of sodium warrant me eating multiple packs of kale chips in a day? And a 10/10 rating for the cashew snack?? Even when the already calorie dense cashews are heavily coated with sugar? Sure, eating whole foods is good for you, but eating something calorie dense can lead to obesity, which can more detrimental effects than eating refined sugars in small amounts. Oh and what does she mean by organic sugar is better than the unrefined cane sugar in the chocolate bar? The nutritional content of regular cane sugar and organic cane sugar is exactly the same, the only difference is how it is grown (from a simple Google search: "Organic cane sugar simply means that the sugar cane was grown organically, without synthetic herbicides or pesticides"). Raw sugar would be more ideal than organic sugar, and I would think that the 'unrefined cane sugar' used would mean that it is raw. And safflower oil is not as unhealthy as she thinks it is (again, from another Google search: "Safflower oil is a rich source of unsaturated fatty acids, which are often called “good fats.” It's every bit as healthy as olive oil").
@beingWantable6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :O I mean compare it to normal snacks instead of just looking at the ingredients and not even the nutritional values! Like where did they get the "expert"? Or were they maybe not to say anything actually informational? right?
@oh_kay29546 жыл бұрын
Yes. Because google is so much more certified than an alleged nutritionist.
@beingWantable6 жыл бұрын
Bias Wrecked that's all you took from that whole text?? Sugar is not good for you in general (too much) so if it's made scientifically or naturally doesn't matter. Honey and maple syrup are still not healthy, so cane sugar neither. But it's also not bad for you either in moderation.
@LittleStrawbirdy6 жыл бұрын
Actually, salt isn't bad.. It's just that it's the thing that makes snacks like potato chips so addictive. It's the same myth like "eggs are bad" "fats are bad"...
@LittleStrawbirdy6 жыл бұрын
Also, she recommended the nuts to be eaten in moderation! Everything is supposed to be taken in moderate amounts. Even too much water can kill you. This is common sense!

Bit weird for a nutritionist to use whether an ingredient name could be understood by a layperson as a parameter for its health properties. That appeals to naturalistic fallacy, but isn't based on science. Cyanocobalamin and anthocyanin are scary big chemical names, but they're actually just a form of B12 and a powerful antioxidant respectively. Also, no mention of the daily recommended intake or the macros! Edit: Hm, just found out her credentials is not in nutrition but in naturopathy....

@calburns3026 жыл бұрын
It depends on their smoke point and some are ok to cook with. Safflower oil is said to have one of the highest smoke points for example.
@triciap4056 жыл бұрын
Cal Burns it just seems sooo confusing. The nutritionist said that it's better to cook with other oils like lard. And I'm like that seems like the complete opposite of what we learned in school. 😮
@calburns3026 жыл бұрын
I agree, it's confusing. Lard has a higher smoke point like safflower but their fatty acid contents are very poor. So for high temperature and frying, they're better, but for salads or cold or low temperatures cooking, they are better replaced with healthier oils, like olive oil etc.
@bjruey6 жыл бұрын
Vegetable oils are not good for hign temperature cooking. They release cancer-causing chemicals when heated.
@calburns3026 жыл бұрын
From what I can read online, coconut oil seem to be the oil releasing the least amount of carcinogenic chemicals, however lard and butter have really been demonised and are better for frying that most vegetable fat.

innocentboyzthegreat why would they bring a low blow person and tell her to act like a nutritionist if she wasn’t really one??? Like they won’t gain anything from bringing someone fake into the show🙄🙄 and I’m a certified 40 yr old nutritionist been around the world and I have a degree and I would agree with some of her stuff not all of it but some and another NOT everyone goes to the same college to get there degree so everyone has there own degree teachings that are gonna be different then ones other learn so in other words her and I both have nutritionist degrees but we learned different things but we’re still degreed! Not everyone has to be the same nutritionist
@innocentboyzthegreat6 жыл бұрын
lol wtf? You do know if you spread misinformation and bogus information it can HURT people's HEALTH????? REALLY? There's a standard in practices like this, and it's supposed to be based on SCIENCE AND FACTS, not some natural bullshit she spews. Lard and animal fats is better than vegetable oils? lol thats saturated fat vs mono/polyunsaturated fats, and any ACCREDITED nutritionist will agree. Sadly, the title nutritionist is not protected so any bogus and pseudoscientific-based practictionist can claim they're a nutritionist. She also said she's a naturopath, which is a branch of PSEUDOSCIENTIFIC practices. Maybe get your money back for your degree, it seems like a bogus one.
