Dr. K, I don't believe in coincidence. I've had a very hard time this past month (dealing with anxiety, depression, and life in general). One night, when I was basically shaking at 3 am unable to sleep, I saw your reckful video. Your videos are changing my life when I needed it the most. Thank you so so much, and it would be an honor to speak to you someday.

I'm so glad I've been recommended him through that Reckful video too. I've been binging his videos after going through the worst part of my life, and he's been really helpful in explaining the reasoning behind my thoughts and mindfulness techniques. Psychologists couldn't tell me anything as useful as the info he's given in a few streams.

This is how I feel whenever my body starts the sleeping process.. I will feel a numbing feeling from the tip of my toe slowly creeping up feeling an electric sensation from my feet up to my body then when it reach my head I will feel like a shaking feeling from my head like when you feel whenever you shiver when cold. Then you'll feel still and numb. Like you have a thin comfortable coat all over your body. Then you'll notice your breathing less air but more frequent than usual. That's how my body transition from awake to sleeping.

Sometimes I experience the "moment of sleep" he mentioned. It happens when I realize my thoughts are becoming irrational / dreamlike. I'll have a train of thoughts that goes like "Tomorrow I need to pay bills... Do I get paid this week? I could ride a surfboard to the bank and ask. The ocean is beautiful this time of year." Then I realize the last few thoughts didn't make any rational sense and it clicks that I'm about to fall asleep.

Some pranayama practices of Kundalini yoga can be very dangerous. If done improperly, they can damage your nervous system. But they are really advanced techniques. There is no reason for him to introduce you to those techniques and unless you visit a guru, you most likely will never know of them. The 3rd eye meditation technique and other chakara meditation techniques are safe.

Really cool to see you mention the concept of "catching the moment of sleep". Years ago I taunt myself meditation to try and alleviate my life long struggle with chronic insomnia. Took a long time but I eventually stumbled into this "moment of sleep", and through that discovery I was able to cure myself of the insomnia I suffered from for as long as I can remember. Never heard anyone talk about this before so it was awesome to see, even if its just a quick mention.

Catching the moment of sleep is one of my favorite ways to meditate. I somehow gravitated towards it by myself and found myself utterly fascinated since it was "my discovery". It's a very powerful experience when you realize where you are for the first time, one step in this direction is sleep and one in this one is being awake. Sitting on the precipice and developing the ability to stay there for a while is very interesting. I wonder what it would look like on a brain scan.

I totally get why doing more courses leads to less procrastination because you just don't have the time anymore (also you have less time to get involved with time consuming interests, like a new game, tv series,...) but I think there is one catch in my case: at least in my University, most of the time you can take an exam on any given date they offer. Per each semester that is usually 3 dates (first at the end of the semester, then the others sometimes carry over to next semester). And therefore when I take a lot of classes, I often think to myself when exam weeks are coming and I haven't started studying for all the exams early enough, "I can take this exam in 3 months, I don't need to take it now, better focus only on these 2 exams". ... and therefore finish only half of the courses which I planned to.

one of the best ways I've heard the moment of sleep described was from Burnie Burns. You know when you're in bed or sitting somewhere and you start to feel tired but you're not quite asleep yet and you have your phone or something in your hands there is always a moment when you feel the phone slip from your hand. Thats the moment of sleep.

Was trying the third eye meditation and it worked. Basically I've been having tensions around my throat, and after my te meditation I thought (seeing as there's meant to be a chakra there) to do the same thing with my throat. It was the strangest meditation experience I've had, it felt like something was locking my finger in place, transmitting energy. At times it felt like my finger was inside my throat, at first this freaked me out, I'd wave my other hand in front only to realise that they weren't even touching. I let it happen and now the tension is dissipating. I have no idea what to make of this.

Dr. Kanojia you should have timestamps on your videos because that way you compartmentalize your videos. There is too much material to follow actively. If someone wants to listen to a specific part they need to search throughout whole video. It shouldn't be hard to put timestamps because you yourself roughly know where and when you started a specific topic.

i'm new to this channel on youtube, this guys seems really smart and with a desire to teach and share his knowledge...how come he has such an immature audience, meaning most people in the chat seemed immature every time i looked, not everyone of course? i very rarely use twitch and never on their chat, i understand immature people on gamers channel cause they have to be funny and entertaining and appeal to the audience by building a character, but from what i see from this man, he generally tries to educate or at least share his opinions and discuss, but almost nobody in the chat reacted to his dicussions, most were trying really hard to be funny or trolly... why is that? not trying to hate but to understand what drives people in such masses to behave like that when education is being tried (apart from probably wanting to be part of the group)

Everyone’s chat is like that on twitch ! I expected it to be different as well, but I’m not surprised. The people who type like to make others laugh or the streamer laugh, and it’s a bit like a leader thing. Sometimes someone makes a joke with a particular emote and then the whole chat follows up, it’s like a fun between the chat:) I think the people that “do care” (not saying the others don’t) just don’t type and focus on what he’s saying and stuff!

Hi Dr.K, First off I'd like to say that I love everything you're doing in your work and I feel as though the AoE is working to help me as well! A question on procrastination, how do you modify this solution for things that do not have deadlines. For example, following something you say we do not (often) follow as gamers: our creative paths. As with the lack of deadlines on something such as this, it is easier to prioritize the now over the future. *fixed because email formatting sucks for youtube

What if your reason for procrastination is rooted in shame? As in I will put in the least amount of effort I can while still "passing" the task, because then I dont have to deal with having done my best and still failing. In that case I don't really think ramping up your deadlines would work. Only asking since you kinda contrasted shame to procrastination, and in my experience ramping up my "to do list" so to speak has only made me more comfortable not doing my best, as in im more comfortable living in a dirty appartment, more comfortable not maintaining a social life, more comfortable with everything that used to strike me as very negative. Im more comfortable with shame I guess, to sum it up, or rather I let shame motivate me to not do things in stead of doing the opposite.. idk if this is a question or if you even answer youtube questions but yeah..

What does catching the moment you sleep help in? For the longest of time since I was a kid I knew at which moment I would go to sleep because I would lucid dream. And I would know the moment I wake up. I do have to admit that I can on average find the moment I'm waking up rather than the moment I sleep. Btw I still lucid dream, by now i have many worlds inside my brain some of which I made when I was a kid, i can perfectly go back to them any time I want when I can't even remember many real memories of that particular year. So yes most of my dreams are lucid as I thought dreams where supposed to be like that until recently when I found that it wasn't the norm and they had a name for it.

The third eye is the pineal gland, so it does correspond with something tangible. The phrase itself, however, probably does align with describing the sensation of an extra eye on the forehead.

How do you set anything up for future, i.e decide on what you're going to do(future), who you want to become(future) anything that is related to the future. I won't become a psychologist without planning for it but that doesn't exist if we go from the "We can only do and live in the present." mindset. Like even the idea of what you want or desire, that can't exist in the present by that logic. So do you somehow have to find a way to want nothing and strive for nothing? Surely not. That kind of spirituality doesn't serve us in the real world.

Hey if you're reading this Dr. K, I know you're pretty damn intelligent but reaching out/talking to big streamers is like buffing your AoE +10. Half of the comments I'm seeing now are from Reckful's fanbase. Try get on big people's streams, talk, get more recognition = more people helped. I love what you do and just want to see you take your Dharma to the maximum.

Hey Dr K. I don't wanna drop my life story here but I've been through some bad shit and you're a crucial resource for me so far in turning my life around. I still don't know my dharma (capital D?) other than "help people", but I'm doing a lot of experiencing to try and find that, seeing as all you seem to talk about is "GeT eXpErIeNcE" (I'm kidding but you really do advocate for it a lot). So, thank you. You're awesome. Hopefully one day I get to speak with you :) Also I'm a DotA addict so I would LOVE to speak in dota analogies with you.

I feel like maybe I'm missing the point of when Dr. K sets up the idea of breaking goals down into "present action" it seems like this is about tricking yourself into doing it and therefore achieving the goal. In this way it seems like you're always worried about the effect but that you're tricking your mind into seeing the point in the actions that lead to the goal rather than the big, difficult and hazy goal itself.
@rafaelcorporan6876

Brett i think the real trick is made by your body and your mind to allow you to seek pleasure when you can, locking you in expectations of things. What he said was basically something youve always heard. Just do what you need don’t think about how your going to accomplish when you already know what to do.
@rafaelcorporan6876

Wanted to add that goals are not really big or difficult or hazy. Your environment and what you considered normal is the one limiting you. Recognize that when you can.

Trying to catch the moment of sleep? I did something along those lines waaaaay back in grade 7/8. I discovered lucid dreaming then, got super into it, with some minor success later on. The lucid dreaming part was kinda cool, my dream recall got super accurate, but that wasn't the best part. Paying attention to my mind as I fell asleep was, and still is really enjoyable. I hadn't really considered it to be meditation until now. Turns out I got in some pretty decent experience way back then without even knowing, lol.

My forehead is no different from any other part of my body when I do the pointing technique. I feel the same sensation if I hold my finger a little bit from my butt, does that mean that I have a 4th eye on my butt cheek?

I actually know this sensation cuz I am into asmr and this is exactly that tingling on the forehead. Otherwise, I would call it the feeling somewhere on your skin when you think something is going to touch that spot. I had this like when I move in my room and it's completely dark in there and I know where everything is, my skin tells me where I am going to touch something until I do so.

Isn't the third eye feeling related to the contraction of the muscles of the spot? I feel like "tension" because of the expectation of the touch, like the mechanic receptors of the skin are expecting the touch and sending signals to the brain

So what would be the solution for someone like me who does not procrastinate but simply don't show up, don't study, fail if I fail, then end up fucking up my entire life ? It's a thing like, I don't want to work, but I would like to be a normal person and like or accept that I have to work. Everyone I know is just programmed ''well that's life'' and they have 0 resistance towards it. I just run away from everything because the past 10 years have been a pain to live. With college, new job etc. Now I'm just doing nothing watching my life fall appart and I don't seem to care. All I can think of is, ''well I could only hope I would be ok with this like everyone else. idk anymore

Surely the third eye meditation feeling is just placebo? Expecting to feel something so you do, only reason I say this is because myself included and the chat seem to mostly feel different things. If it was a genuine effect surely people would feel the same thing, not in some cases complete opposite feelings?
