Does God not have a choice to speak or not speak to someone? According to Kris Vallotton, no, God doesn't have a choice because if you're not hearing from God every day then it's because you're doing something wrong and you need Mr. V as well as others in the new apostolic movement to teach you. Their description of God sounds a lot like the force from star wars rather than the sovereign creator and sustainer of the cosmos who can do whatever He chooses...including not speaking to false prophets

That's not true. When God speaks He always makes it clear to His kids. The people who didn't understand the parables were those who rejected Christ. We as Christians have the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things. He doesn't speak cryptically to His own kids.His kids know Him clearly. His word was hidden to the Pharisees and religious leaders. "My sheep hear my voice and they know me." It is plain to us. What Kris here is teaching is classic gnosticism.

If you go 24 hours without hearing from God, then you’re not reading your Bible! You don’t have to search out channels to find God! He tells us, “If you seek, you will find!” God doesn’t hide from you. He doesn’t hide His word from you!! If you read your Bible you will see that this man is wrong. If God doesn’t speak audibly then you have no relationship?!? The Bible tells us in Hebrews that He has spoken to us through His Son- Jesus is the Word. The world was formed by the Word. John1. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Jesus is in plain view within our Bibles. He doesn’t hide. He doesn’t make us search endlessly thru riddles. He reveals Himself to those who whole heartedly seek Him

Also, I heard Gods audible voice once. Like Kris'' experience, it was the only way He could get my attention. I was dating a girl and God asked me to break it off, I took her on a last date and when I went to tell her we should take a break I somehow kissed her instead. That's when I heard Him. He said, "You are kissing another mans wife." I stopped kissing her...

choose not too. What nonsense is that? "God doesn't heal all that asks". Name one person who Jesus told "I can't heal you, or I wont heal you". Can you name even one? Tell me if sin is the cause of sickness and disease, and Jesus defeated sin on the cross, how then will he not heal all who ask? If he doesn't that means his death is in vain. Furthermore its a contradiction to old testament prochecies of Christ. In Isaiah it says Christ died for our transgressions, iniquies, and infirimities...

@jesusrescuedme11 Fine. I get that. But the heresy from Kris here that he is saying is that God changes channels or languages to keep us guessing. That is gnosticism. Jesus tells us that we can know His voice. Yes I agree that we need to seek Him more to gain understanding, but we can ALWAYS know and recognize His voice. His voice never changes for us or confuses us. We know it instantly.

@ChrisvanderMerwe_cw3
@ChrisvanderMerwe_cw3 8 жыл бұрын
+Kimberly Myers Amen well answered. It is not enough to know the Book, you have to know the Author of the Book too. Some people believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Scriptures instead of the Holy Spirit. God is still speaking to His people today and anyone who claims different is denying Scripture because our God does not change. He did it back then and He is still doing it now. When we hear from God we are not adding to the Bible as some erroneously claim, God is simply confirming His Word through relationship to us His friends and servants. Anyone who ever heard God's voice knows He will never contradict His Word as revealed in the Bible, but He will share details that are maybe not included in Scripture but are in perfect alignment with Scripture, like telling you what business decision to make or what house to buy (you won't always know that by just reading Scripture), but I found that must often He just wants to tell us He loves us and that He cares and He hears our prayers and struggles. He also teaches us what His Word means because He wrote the book and He is the only One who can adequately and accurately interpret it. The best of commentators though useful to a certain degree have made mistakes and errors in interpreting God's Word and they are a poor substitute for the Holy Spirit. God hides these things from those who are so proud and wise in their learning and He reveals it to those who become humble and obedient like a little child willing to learn from His Father. To really come to know Truth you have to remain teachable. God sets Himself against the proud and arrogant and they will never find Him through their own efforts even if the search many years. They are always learning but never coming to the knowledge of the Truth.

@RansomBackus7 the disciples were also confused by some of the things Jesus said. I think what Kris is saying here is correct. I'm not trying to spark debate, but if we keep arguing over the things that divert us (as Christians) from the mission Jesus gave us like this, we will never fulfill it. "A house divided against itself will not stand." Calling someone a heretic is a very serious accusation. Division is weakening the body of Christ.

Rick Becker heresy is doctrine that prevents salvation. this is not heresy. this is simply a layer you do not understand. I completely understand this though there are other things that He has not specifically moved me to grow in. We do not ALL get it ALL. In fact, this is a direct word from Abba to me last week, "You expect everyone to be where you are but they are not. You may be a consumer of large amounts of truth but it is not always profitable to share it. It does you no good for someone to think you're nuts. People do not follow "crazy people" to Yeshua." This sheppard cares for his flock and is not deceiving them. God speaks to us in 10 different ways. Seek and you SHALL find. Maybe you need to be told, listen and you SHALL hear. 😊

The glaring problem in this presentation, is that Kris is ignoring the context of the book of Matthew, which did not have chapter divisions in the original. In chapter 12, we see a series of encounters between Jesus and the Pharisees (with the crowds looking on and at times participating), which all focus on whether or not Jesus is the Son of David (a Messianic title), as the crowds ask the Pharisees in v.23:-And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? The Pharisees responded by saying that Jesus used the power of Beelzebub to cast out the demon from the boy in v.22 and from then on, Jesus pronounces a series of judgments against that generation, because they did not accept Him as the Messiah. It is clear that He is not just addressing the Pharisees, but the whole generation of people, who have had much light given to them (both through the prophets and through His ministry) but who keep asking their leaders, rather than believing the evidence of their own eyes. So in response to this gross unbelief, Jesus begins to teach truth hidden in parables. However, even the disciples needed Jesus to explain the truths hidden in the parables, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon all flesh. Even then, the parables were not Jesus's primary manner of teaching truth, but rather one that came about as a kind of judgment on the people who refused to accept the evidence of their own eyes an ears. The truth would be freely available to all who have the Holy Spirit, as He will guide us into all truth. To those who have their spiritual eyes and ears opened, God speaks to us plainly, without any need for parables to veil the truth. God does not hide the truth from those who are now His children, so this idea that we must learn how decipher truth is not correct, in the sense that Kris makes out. God has provided all that we need for us to become the perfect man (or woman) of God, according to this:- 2 Timothy 3:15-17 KJV[15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. [16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

How about you just not compare your relationship to others and value whatever manifestations you encounter as yours and his alone. Nobody has the right to say "this is right" or "this is wrong"...especially in a deeply personal relationship with the creator. Wow I was wondering about how I noticed too how Jesus would quote scriptures seemingly out of context to support his point. I feel like when people say “where do you see that in the Bible” or “you’re taking that verse out of context” - yes context is important to understanding that particular scripture but it could also have a spiritual principle that can be applied to other scriptures but we just have to have eyes to see and ears to hear that and some things are only discerned by the Spirit. Our carnal minds from the dullness of our hearts and consequently dull ears do not accept that reality however sometimes

They were many times where Jesus was telling parables he didn't quote a particular scripture but he was quoting scripture in a way he was telling stories to speak scripture. Totally right American Christianity is all about someone giving you a bottle full of milk and you drinking I'll take the milk but I want the meat I don't mind the milk at all I enjoy it but I would rather be a meat eater I would rather have to work to devour the word preaching to myself y'all be blessed.

It doesn't say why Trophimus wasn't healed, nor does scripture specify what Paul's thorn in the flesh actually was. You made those assumptions presupposing that your theology was correct. This tells me you're reading your theology into scripture rather than getting theology out of scripture. Could you provide scripture to support your last statement? Saying "if you don't hear it's because you choose not to" is a leap in logic. That could be true, but God choosing not to speak could also be true.

From the close of the Old Testament to the time of Jesus there was 400 years of silence. Was that because no one was listening or because God didn't speak to anyone? God does not heal all who ask. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12 that he asked 3 times for the thorn in his side to be removed and the Lord said each time "My grace is sufficient." The only thing I can offer is on any preacher/teacher is i eat the meat and spew out the bones, because none have perfect theology. Interestingly when Jesus preached he brought sharp division wherever he went some loved him others hated him did that make Jesus a false teacher? To me where there is sharp division I suspect the person is genuine, however I believe Jesus will separate the sheep from the goats not by anyone labelling people.

Wow! That's so cool! I've heard God's audible voice only two times in my life. I as very still and quiet, but like Kris, I was still very new in my relationship with God. Totally just blew my mind when Kris said that, because it proved to be true in my experience. Good vid!

If Paul's thorn was sickness it doesn't mean God is a fraud. It means your theology is in error. Indeed we will be free from sickness when we recieve our resurrection bodies but not in this life. Paul's thorn was in the flesh so if you want to draw any conslusions you'd have to say it was something physical since it was in the flesh. It says it was God's will in order to keep Paul humble. Jesus did say these signs will follow and Paul said they were signs of an apostle to confirm their message

The thorn was pain caused by satan. And God expects us to stand against satan and his works against us, such as sickness. God does not put sickness on people. The only one that God put sickness on was Jesus, so that he could bare it for us, just as He bore our sins. So, we can come to Him and believe for healing, and deliverance if we sin.

there's confusion when devil spits out lies and half truths but there's also confusion due to a lack of knowledge/wisdom or lack of seeking God on our part, that's on us. My people perish for lack of knowledge, wisdom cries in the street, how long will you love to be simpleminded, and who knows the things of God but the spirit of God (needing to reveal it to us). The things of God are spiritually discerned, trying to understand it solely with our natural mind seems to lead to confusion/failure

Yes, Jesus spoke to crowds many times in parables, but He explained them to the disciples in private, and even to us as we read the gospels, since we get to read His explanations. Also we should keep in mind what He said here: John 16:25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father. Blessings, PA

Hey, not sure I know what you are asking but... I didn't literally learn Cantonese, I am saying that I went through a season where God began to speak to me in a new way and it felt like some a foreign language - maybe a little like Cantonese. As my hunger increased I began to learn His new love language with me. This isn't a reference to tongues, just the natural progression of a son growing up. It wasnt a fun season but it was good! Anyway, hope that clarifies.

So God is bipolar and always speaking in different ways so that we are always confused about what He is saying is that so Kris? I thought God was unchanging. Or are you just a false teacher?

@Daniell1708 Matt 3:And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. This doesn't say it was for the sake of others... Maybe though? What about Moses whom God spoke to face to face, or the other prophets... They didn't have beep relationships with Him? It isn't accurate. Most of what Kris says is good - 1Th 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

exactly! it would've been too easy for pride to set in on Paul, if he had no resistance or struggles. ...and it's not that life ,physically speaking, gets easier or more pleasant. But once you've labored/worked past all the pious religious teachings of men and enter into that "rest" from Hebrews 4 and gain the full revelation of God's grace,love, and your true imputed righteous identity, and live in NOOOO FEAR! the circumstances around you mean very little...abased or abounded

I'm really not too concerned with trying to figure out exactly what Paul's "thorn in the flesh" was. I think it's a bad exegesis to say it was something other than a physical ailment, but even if you were right, my main point still stands. That is, God allowed Paul to suffer in order that he should stay humble; and when Paul prayed for it to be taken away, God refused to grant his request. All the teaching that implies closeness to God makes life easier and more pleasant is not biblical.

Now, I usually love Kris and his teaching. Great guy, great ministry. Only think about this interpretation is that Jesus says, black in white in the selected text. "Why do you speak with them in parables? To YOU IT HAS BEEN GRANTED TO YOU THE MYSTERIES OF THE KINGDOM." It seems pretty clear here that to those that do not believe, there is a sense of mystery to the teaching of Jesus. This is biblically accurate. But Jesus says here that those who are FOLLOWERS, part of the family, have been grated to know the mysteries of the Kingdom. Lastly, Better not put God and the "way he speaks" in a box. Better not make a formula for how He can, or cannot speak. He tends to break out of those. Nothing but Love for Kris and the team at BSSM.

there is also the 'its the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the glory of kings to seek it out" referring to us as Jesus is the King of kings. So there is some matter of seeking and putting in the work/effort and God liking to hide things, Jesus says you will seek for Me and find Me when you search with all your heart. Disciples were often confused, but when they turned to Jesus and sought Him for the answer, like Lord why couldn't we cast this demon out? They got further revelation also mentions who can know the deep things of God but the spirit of God, but that also those things are revealed to us by the Spirit of God, so there's an element of Holy Spirit is to lead us into all truth, but we are called to be led by the Spirit. We are called to find and follow what God is doing, to be followers of Christ, which is a dynamic and non-static thing. It's not as comfortable, but that's the difference, God's revelations/mana is probably supposed to be fresh daily, and not us depending on formulas, it seems it's supposed to be relational. And this makes sense, if God tells us to pray for a random person, what He may want to say to them would be different today vs a week from now, a month from now, potentially. It takes us being in tune with God to accurately convey what God is saying now, or as some say, the rhema word of God

So was my assumption about Paul's thorn a good one, yeah, its very likely, seeing how thats how satan works, to guilt people, and God does heal, so it wasn't sickness. Its the most likely case. Tell me what did we lose in the garden? A relationship. If Christ dying meant restoring that relationship, why would he not talk to us? Not only will that damage your relationship, it defeats the purpose of restoring our relationship. Thats how I know God doesn't choose not to talk. Its called revelation.

Right after the thorn in the flesh is mentioned, there is a phrase set off by commas which says, "The messenger of Satan to buffet me." This is an explanation of what the thorn was. It was not a "thing" but rather a demonic messenger. The word used as "messenger" here is always translated as angel or messenger and refers to a created being. So, Paul's thorn was literally a demon sent from Satan to buffet him. The word "buffet" means to strike repeatedly as waves would buffet the shore.
