This song is 20 years old. It was one song from being added to the Meteora album. They shelved it because they already had Numb and it was a kinda similar. Since it it Meteors 20th anniversary they decided to release Lost. It was already mixed and ready to go. They didn't change or add anything. Mike talks about it in an interview. It was really interesting. That's how relevant their music is. Just as good today as 20 years ago. Miss you Chester. P.S. Please react to- Crawling-One more light live. Its raw and stripped completely down. It's beautiful. He gets so close to his fans. It was also one of his last performances.

The song is actually over 20 years old, and was meant to be on Meteora. If they had gone for thirteen songs instead of twelve like they originally planned, the song would have made the cut. But since they went for twelve, they cancelled this song because they though it was a bit to similar to Numb.

Fact that she calls it futuristic while this song was intended for the Meteora album in 2003 but cut at the last moment... It shows just how ahead of their time Linkin Park was. While for me; listening to this song for the first time catapulted me back into the 00's. It was like a time capsule in a song. It was such an experience. This song hit me right in the feels. Absolutly, it felt wrong to listen to the Song without Winamp or loading it from Napster or later Limewire^^. Well he was wrong OR more likely , Chesters Story made this Song at this timing such a wonderful thing for every LP fan.

Well, if you look at how LP produced their music, it's clear why their albums tended to have such a cohesive quality to them. The track came first, and then the lyrics. This is why if you listen to the anniversary album you have all these songs, some with and without vocals, that sound like they would be able to fit on Meteora. I think they chose the right songs for the original release, but my goodness I'm glad they held on to the rest of the material and saw fit to release mixed and mastered versions of Lost and Fighting Myself.

I think Hybrid Theory is their most iconic and "hits" filled album (even though obviously they had hits all over, especially these first 2) it's their most nostalgicly recognisable but I'd argue Meteora is their best album in terms of writing, the vulnerability in Chester's voice, complexity in their soundscapes and song structure. It was like LP were a depressed but talented teenager but Meteora was a contemplative adult actively trying to come to terms with the fact that they once were that teenager (I really hope that metaphor makes sense) and I don't take anything away from Hybrid Theory but they really expanded on it with Meteora.

I remember hearing this song for the first time without any context and instantly realizing it was from the Meteora era. The lyrics: "I'm trapped in yesterday" where no new memories Of Chester can be produced, all we have is the memories of him "where the pain is all I know". This song eerily feels like its purpose was to be only released postmortem. "Lost" would have been in the background if it were placed on Meteora, possibly overlooked by many and a track that got many skips. But fast forward to today and it's unbelievable how much it plays in the full circle. Music has a funny way of making sense when nothing else does.

yeah, that first "lost" hit and I teared up. Then the "i'm tired" hit me and I couldn't hold in the sob that broke out of me. I know this is an older song that they've just released... but hindsight of the situation puts a different mindset on this song. It puts a visceral feeling into the lyrics. The mental struggle was real. And it was a fight he lost. And yeah, the older songs have that struggle on display just as much, I think this one is different because the older ones are... familiar. comfortable. I played the old songs on repeat for years. Sometimes I am not really even hearing them, just feeling the music pour over me. Feeling the comradery of knowing I'm not alone in my pain. Feeling the nostalgia of the comfort the music gave me in hard times. this one is new, and unknown, so people are listening more actively and intentionally. And it doesn't have that familiar sense of comfort to it. but it is still familiar and very much classic Linkin Park / Chester sounding. It's beautiful. raw. emotional. and I'm glad they released it.

As somebody who was abused by a family member growing up (Chester was abused by a close friend of his father), I think a lot of people look back after Chester's death and find it hard to separate the tragedy from the art. He had a hell of a hard time, but when Hybrid Theory and Meteora came out they weren't successful albums because of what he had been through, but his ability to connect with a whole generation of people who were lost for whatever reason. That was down to his writing and his performances on stage. I wish he could have stayed strong and still been with us today, but at least he's not suffering anymore. R.I.P. Chester ❤️ P.s. I think this song got left on the Meteora cutting room floor because it didn't fit, but it's a massive nod to the albums afterwards with the change in sound. This song wouldn't sound out of place on A Thousand Suns or One More Light. As for pitch correction, you may be right, but I believe if Chester was in the studio he wouldn't be expressing (out to in singing) and moving around as much so it would be easy to nail one track. Imagine trying to sing Breaking the habit as the 10th song of the set...no wonder he dropped pitch. Nothing that I've said is a criticism on your reaction, just my thoughts. I miss Chester and the rest of LP as a whole and I come back to your few reactions time and time again just to see a professional breakdown on how much he f***ing rocked. Thank you Elizabeth!

That and not being able to separate the artist from the art (which you obviously can't fully do anyway because some songs ARE about his perspective) but what some either forget or don't know is that some of the emotional songs were actually written by Mike and from his own personal perspective like Numb for example which kind of ignores that that is personal to Mike. I get why people do it, they do it a lot with Nirvana after Kurt died, where they attributed lyrics to him being depressed, ignoring that a lot of the time Kurt wrote from the emotive feel of the beat a lot instead of just straight up personal perspective, which sullies the true intent behind what the music was actually trying to do.

Mike Shinoda has done a interview recently about how many songs in the archive they have and that they got so much material to do a documentary. This is definitely Chester Bennington without a doubt. Iv been lost myself the last couple of years, hard to even talk about it to be honest. It’s been suicidal from time to time but I’m getting to a better place now at least. So this hits so hard for me. First album I purchased by myself was meteora when it came out too. I love that you took your time to react on this so I could follow every word even more and just feel every bit of the song In snippets like this. This song was created about 20 years ago. And you can hear that Chester have been living with this for probably most of he’s adult life. Miss you Chester ❤️ Wish I got to see you live. Best singer I know really to get this deep and get this type of emotions out. You explained he’s voice very well. It’s got layers of softness and rawness that it’s just so captivating.

I think I've listened to this 100+ times at this point. Came at just the right moment for me and is such a great song. The shortness of it leaves you longing for more. I also love as he screams out into the second main chorus of I'm Lost you can feel the pain and the visual is the anime style of him jumping off the roof from Breaking the Habit before switching to the girl all alone. Very powerful and hits hard.

A bit surprised you didn’t talk about the small break in his voice when he sings “but I’m tired” after you had the full breakdown about how he pushed his voice for those types of feelings. It’s so rough thinking that he was that tired and broken when he was on top of the world at the age of 24-26 and knowing that it never got better for him.

In hindsight to everything that happened, the lyrics really sound like how most fans that learned of Chester's death must be feeling like. We're always looking back on that day. Chester's death basically transferred all of his pain onto us, and the lyrics almost feels like Chester is telling us how we feel. It's haunting for sure, but this song almost gives that feeling of, "Don't look back, but look forward towards the future." So try to be hopeful. Never forget what came before, but remember to push towards the unknown you have left to experience.

I have never reacted to a celebrity death like I did Chester's. He passed the same year my wife passed away. I listened to Linkin Park since I was a teenager. I also have a history of abuse and chronic depression, so their lyrics and Chester's vocals made me feel like I wasn't alone. I followed the release of every album through One More Light, something I have done for literally no other band. The release of this song is so bittersweet. So many memories attached to them-good and bad. And the "Lost" doubles in meaning for me; both feeling lost and what I/we have lost. When I sat down to watch the music video the first time I cried. Someone asked me how I can listen to such depressing music, and what it comes down to is a) it makes me feel like I'm not strange for having these thoughts and b) in making me confront these thoughts in this way, on my terms, to feel them without trying to push them away, it can be cathartic. RIP Chester

He made an impact on my music taste in such an incredible way. I didn't catch Linkin Park till later on. I'm 29 now but in 2007 Minutes To Midnight came out. I was 13 and my English teacher had an idea for class. Every Friday she would pick a song of the week that we would have to listen in class and then write how the song made us feel, one week was Shadow of the Day and I really connected to that song. That was the first time I really listened to Linkin Park. Immediately got that song and latched on to his voice. Linkin Park was my first band that I truly loved. It hurts when we lost him, but I never really gave them the credit for what they did for me mentally and for my music tastes. Saved me from myself many times... When this song came out, I ugly cried. With that said, it felt so bitter sweet. Love and miss you Chester. Wish I got to meet you before you left.

Having learned that as I’m listening and watching the first section with you, I hear the pain and the cry for help and I can’t continue with this one. It’s hauntingly beautiful as most of Linkin Park’s music is, and now I know why. My daughter lost a dear friend to suicide when he could no longer battle his demons. Every time I hear that "But I'm tired" at the start of the second verse, my breath catches in my throat. You can hear from the slight crack in his voice that he was feeling that line as he was recording it, and I understand how he felt in that moment. I'm also tired. So, so tired. For those of us who grew to know and understand Chester through his career, you can't overestimate how much hearing his voice one more time means to us. He's the one person we knew understood, and that's why his death hurt my generation more than any other celebrity death ever has - he helped us to keep going when it didn't seem worth it, because if he could do it, so could we. But when he can't keep going anymore, where does that leave us? These are the thoughts that this song evokes in me. I understand why they cut this from Meteora (it does sound a bit too similar to Numb to go on the same album), and I'm glad they did. Otherwise, 20 years into the future, we wouldn't have had this special moment.

Not my favorite song by any means (that's still "Pushing Me Away"), but I definitely appreciate it and and super thankful for Mike Shinoda and the rest of the boys, as well as Chesters widow and family, for letting us have this. I'm glad that Chesters light is still able to shine in our world even though he's gone.

That's what makes him unique. He's never been afraid to sign about what everyone wZ feeling deep in there heart. I hope I'm wrong but this voice will never be replaced bc those shoes are far to big to fill and LP Fans will agree. Not sure how these a.i. songs are going go for the future.for now I'll enjoy everything about Chester's voice that is so many things in one song miss you chester!!!!!❤❤❤❤😢

2017 took a lot from me. 4 family members died that year alone but we all collectively lost Chester and Chris and it took a huge toll on me. I was not in a good place. Their music along with friends and family helped me through and I only wish they were still here so we could help them.
