I was a Radioman stationed on a ship. I got out in 1989. When I was processing out I had many people tell me to not use the VA. Eleven months after I got out I got my first set of hearing aids. That was 30 some years ago. I have been through 5 sets of hearing aids that I paid for myself. January of 2023 I went to the VA. I took in all my records from my audiologist as the nexus. I am now rated at 60% service connected for hearing loss and 10% for tinnitus. Don't buy into the nonsense that you shouldn't use the VA. I have only positive experiences with the VA so far.

What sucks is that the C&P exam is conducted in a sound proof booth with headphones . In the real world I can’t hear anything when there is any background noise. It’s kind of a scam

Funny you post this today. We just had our annual PHA this past weekend for the Army. And I have hearing loss. I too was 82nd as an 11B. And I also hold mechanic MOS's (63s & 91b). Thanks for posting.

The thing about recognizing hearing loss years later, is the fact the decline is slow enough to not notice increased hearing loss until your friend punches your arm and ask, "Do you hear me talking to you?".

That is a valid point. Thank you for watching sir

For 18 years I started out as a Master Crew Chief on KC - 135 A, E, R models. Noice went low with A and increased with each engine upgrade. I did end up flying full time on them. Thanks for your video.

I was an 84D20 audio specialist at Ft Myer in Virginia. We set up large sound and recording systems for reviews that had to cover whole parade fields. The ceremonies sometimes included howitzer salutes by the Third Infantry ceremonial unit, and the US Army Field Band.Things got rather loud sometimes. This was 1969-71. But if you are an E5 and at the controls of General Westmorland's or Sec of the Army Stanley Resor's mike, you probably don't want them to see you are wearing earplugs! After service I worked as a recording engineer, and later owned a sound company for 24 years. So I have depended on my ears working well for my livelihood all my life. I now have constant tinnitus in both ears and, by my own simple testing, hearing loss above 7-8kHz and probably midrange loss of consonants of speech. Going to VA hearing test in April. Can they fit me with hearing aids that will correctly compensate me for losses at various frequencies to give me accurate hearing? I am still asked to mix sound for local theater productions but am not confident I can accurately do that?

Just had my C&P exam for my hearing a couple of weeks ago. Joined in '86 and retired in '07 spending 10 years on flight status during that time. Will be interesting to see what rating I get for both tinnitis and hearing loss. The good thing is my C&P examiner noted my first instance of documented hearing loss in my records was '89 and first documented instance of tinnitis was '91. I mentioned failing my flight physicals for hearing and still getting a waiver to fly. I retired with an H2 profile. She did note my hearing is worse than it was from my retirement physical. I'm glad to see so much was documented and acknowledged by the examiner though I have no way to judge what kind of rating this will get me. The wildcard is not seeing what was put on the DBQ, so I don't know what was actually submitted on my behalf.

I don't know if things have changed since I was i n the Army 69/71 mos sheet you are showing would have been pretty much useless it was for me because I was trained as a electronic repairman and they denied my hearing loss claim based on my mos I was trained for but I never worked a day in my mos I was assigned to an air Defense Artillery group which was not considered even though my hearing test showed hearing loss that was at the threshold for hearing loss for disability even though I was rated for Tinntus

@combatdouglas130610 ай бұрын
You need get a new test and get rated , even at 0%. Come the change , Tinnitus falls away unless related to S/C hearing loss. That is proposed. Does not mean it'll pass. But if it does , whenever you file any new claim , do not be surprised if you get gigged. Denis not be the veteran's friend.
