I suffered SSNHL in both ears simultaneously 3 years ago and the Dr's believe I had some form of viral infection of my brain dura but basically I lost 100% of my hearing in about 40mins. Infortunately I was initially misdiagnosed and didn't get the prednisone until it was too late. Fortunately I was an ideal candidate for a CI which i had installed in May 22.

@@HearingSolutionCtr honestly one of the best decisions I made. I went from 0% vocal accuracy (obvs being profoundly deaf) to 6 months later hitting 96% on the verbal listening tests. I still need to lipread quite a lot, especially in busy environments but one on one in casual circumstances it's almost normal. I'd recommend a CI to anyone in my situation 100%

I have profound deafness in both ears. Left ear lost after a episodes of vertigo in 2017, underwent all procedures of steroids injection in the ear. Nothing worked. Again in 2022 I lost hearing on the right ear, after a One day of having vertigo and losing balance. Again underwent the same procedure at the best ENT facility. Nothing recovered. Suggested for CI but no guarantee at my age of 55. Please enlighten about the risks involved in CI and side effects if any

Thank you for your video! Sorry for my not ideal English. I have Sensorineural Hearing Loss. Complete deafness on the left and hearing loss of level 3rd on the right. The hearing loss occurred probably due to meningoencephalitis when I was 9 months old. I had 2nd level of hearing loss before severe flu, which happened when I was 14. I don't know deaf language, I communicate with people like ordinary people. Yes, my spelling and pronunciation could be better and never will be, but I can talk with people. I wore an "analog" hearing aid; I grew up with it. Then came "digital" hearing aids, which are useless to me. Because they have a peculiarity, they make conversations louder and the sound of the car behind me or the birds quieter. This is their "specificity." And for me, on the contrary, I need to hear cars and birds because I already recognize conversations quite well. Only under certain circumstances do I hear very poorly when a person is far from me, and there is no possibility of being closer (instructor, teacher, counsellor in a kinder campus...). No matter how much I asked to reconfigure the device - it's all in vain, they already twisted it to the maximum. And that's why I now feel that there is that hearing aid, that it is not there - there is no difference. That's why I completely stopped wearing a hearing aid. I have already accepted myself as I already am. Yes, my pronunciation suffers, and people make judgments about it. A cochlear implant may not help me because doctors suspect that either the nerves that carry sound to the brain are damaged or the area of the brain responsible for hearing and recognition is affected. Since even hearing from the left side (absolute deafness) is not transmitted even through the auricle. While progress is developing, I am trying to improve my hearing; I speak Ukrainian, Russian, and English, and I want to learn other languages and learn to play the piano or guitar (unfortunately, I do not hear the highest notes of the piano, only the knock (vibro) from the keys. I do more effort to pronounce words clearly, I pay more attention to it, as it is my weak point. Yesterday, I was on a First Aid Course and couldn't understand almost anything because of my hearing loss. I have a dream to have a hearing aid that fits me.
@HearingSolutionCtr
@HearingSolutionCtr 3 ай бұрын
First off, you can adjust hearing aids to have a more "Analog" sound in the digitals. But they will never and haven't made a non-Digital hearing aid in way too many years. That's never going to happen. I don't mean to burst your bubble but you need to hear the truth!
@m.b.4884
@m.b.4884 3 ай бұрын
@@HearingSolutionCtr Yes, I understand, that both hearing aids are digital. But between two of them there is sooo big difference. “Analog” hadn’t manipulations with sounds, last hearing aid has and I didn’t like this last.
@HearingSolutionCtr
@HearingSolutionCtr 3 ай бұрын
@@m.b.4884 Again, I can only GUESS at a lot of things here. Newer aids have abilities to "manipulate" the sounds thru the app. That's a huge change...but you also need an Audiologist who knows how to make that hearing aid you need (all are ONLY digital now) more "Analog" in nature.

I still have no idea what is going on with my right ear . I immediately tackled this wasting NO TIME . I thought I had an ear infection in early October . Nope . All they saw was “ pressure “ behind my ears , worse on the right . Severe pain in that right ear . I went to urgent care once , my PCP twice . Told no infection just pressure noted . Ok . By late October I’m at the ENT , worsening pain right ear , feels like it’s clogged with fluid . Ent sends me for CT scan of brain , ears , nasal , neck with & without contrast , says come back in 5 weeks . Prescribed steroids . Looked up my nose , down my throat , in my ears , said there is NO pressure in my ears they looked perfect after three nurses said the opposite. ( pressure , no infection ) Me & steroids don’t mix . I was desperate for pain relief All scans normal . Ear pain getting worse . Sent to neurologist. Had an MRI , MRV . Nothing . Ear pain getting worse , now I’ve got tinnitus constantly AND now a new sound . Thumping . Sounds like a beat box in my right ear . Terrible pressure . Quality of life diminished. Even went to PT for TMJ . As ent said it’s that . Zero improvement. At a LOSS ! No hearing loss , just really sick of this !

hello doctor scott, actually i was suffering from mumps due to which i am suffering from ssnhl in my right ear. I came to know about this within 4days and my treatment was started. At first there was no response. So as i was admitted in hospital doctor started me giving steroids through iv. And after that i was able to respond at 115 decibel sound. So the doctor gave me 8 doses of injection in my ear and i am continuing the doses of steroid every day. After 6 doses of injection i was able to hear 75 decibel. So will i completely recover?
