Mini Heart Shaped Cookies Painted with Simple and Easy Meadow Flowers. These little bite-sized cookies make the perfect accent to any dessert platter by adding that splash of colour that showcases YOUR unique artistry skills. Do any flowers you want!! All will look amazing!! There is not a lot of space on these cookies, they measure 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches, so any splash of colour you add will make them look fabulous and super cute. For mine, I used 2 brushes; my Script Liner and one of my Spotters. I'm accustomed to painting many of these at a time, so I'd normally have 6 on my turntable at once, but just do what's comfortable for YOU. For some brush strokes, I'm more comfortable pulling the colour toward me (i.e the cookie is upside down), rather than brushing it away (cookie right-side up). There is no right or wrong way, just HAVE FUN and figure out what works best for you and your brushes!!

Can you tell me what brand and number of Script Liner and Spotters you prefer to use? I have a number of brushes but like the clean control you demonstrate. I appreciate the knowledge you share. Hi Dee! Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot to me, you've totally made my day! As for the brushes, I have wasted so much money over the years buying PACKAGES of brushes, only to discover that all will be crappy except 1. I've also spent lots of $$ buying one brush (i.e. a Spotter that I think will give wonderful detail) only to find out when I use it that it's too small to hold enough liquid to actually paint on the glaze (painting cookies isn't the same as painting on paper). I have 5 Script Liners that all basically look the same, but only 1 of them works effectively. Can you tell I'm not answering your question, LOL? That's b/c the brushes I'm using have come from packages that I would never recommend you buy. So, hon, treat yourself to something that; i) is for watercolour, ii) has some length to the bristles, iii) short-handled (no need to pay extra for a long-handled brush), then practice with it until you get a feel for the right combination of colour and liquid to paint the effect you're after. You'll be stunning, I just know it. Love E

Hi Shannon! Thanks for your kind words, hon, they mean a lot to me. Food colouring straight from the tube/bottle is too liquid and also just one colour. I use Wilton Food Gels for all my painting and vodka as my liquid medium. Ask if you have more questions! Love, Elaine

Hi La Marcys! Thank you so much for your kind words, they really mean a lot to me! Experiment with your ingredients and see what tastes the best to you, it all comes down to personal preference and all recipes are basically the same (corn syrup, icing sugar, etc). The one thing that I will HIGHLY RECOMMEND, though, is using Wilton Clear Vanilla Extract. It is amazing. And the longer the glaze sits (e.g. weeks!!!, the better it tastes). I've tried other (more expensive) clear vanilla extracts, and the longer they sit, the more they taste like chemicals. This is a huge no-no and huge disappointment because your cookies, when heat-sealed properly, stay fresh for months just like the cookies at the grocery store. So you don't want ANY changes in flavour over time. I also ONLY use Wilton White in my glaze, it's far superior to other whites that I've tried. Much love to you, ask if you have more questions.
