Heart of Dakota Kindergarten Program: Mid-year Review

Per request, I have made a video on my likes/dislikes to the Heart of Dakota Kindergarten Program: Little Hearts for His Glory. While I may have had some issues with it fitting our family, I still maintain that this is a well thought-out program. And I am very happy that we chose this program to start our homeschool journey with. :)

I know this is a super old video and probably not information you need at this point, but in case someone else watches this to find out more about this curriculum: Heart of Dakota is a Charlotte Mason inspired curriculum, so this guide doesn't actually use the Words to Know and Review questions found in the texts. So it's no probably to read in snippets and come back to it later. Charlotte Mason is about short readings and narration coming from the child, not about regurgitating facts. So the type of questions found in textbooks like History for Little Pilgrims aren't the type of questions you want to ask of your child. Carrie Austin used traditional style texts in a Charlotte Mason style way, which can be confusing when you first encountering it. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for sharing this review, it helped me make a decision 😃 But, honestly I don't think kindergartners need more science, history or anything else that is presented to them in this program, because everything is just introduction to them at this level 😊

Thank you for posting this. We are using HOD this year for my 3rd grader and 1st grader. We are using this book for 1st grade. I don't think he would have done it for K. I appreciate the review!!! :)
