Great video Rachel! We're using Little 💕 for His Glory with my 1st grader & constantly thinking of how I'll juggle more than 1 guide down the road

I have got to find the guides second hand I’m thinking. Because I just really want the history books minus the projects, so can’t justify the guide cost. I think that’s what’s got me truly hung up.

I did buy both of the US guides used. For Highschool having the guides and the history spines is great!!! I found them on a FB group for used heart of Dakota.

This was so helpful, thank you! I’ve been a little overwhelmed trying to figure out how to run more than one guide, and the idea of combining and teaching to my oldest is such a relief! At what point do you put each child in their own guide? Is it just when the oldest is in a more independent guide like in CTC? And did your younger son ever feel like he was repeating a guide because he had heard those books before? Thank you for all of your advice!

Hi- glad this was helpful. We enjoyed Preparing so much that we start there. I did use little hands for my youngest and took less than 1 hour but after that I focused on the 3Rs and interest led till Preparing. We did pull so many books from HOD like I did the emerging readers from them but not with the guide. We have pulled some from DITHR also. I always focused on my 2 oldest until my next one entered Preparing. My oldest became more independent in 7th and really worked a lot on his own from there except for family Bible and read alouds😉 this video may give more detail on how we did things 😉kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4isc4ypfMaDbtE

Mine prefer not to do family style learning, which makes everything more expensive. It’s the expense of HOD that has me sweating. Lol

Thanks for watching!! I really don’t start formal till 3-4th grade and we use Winston and then we use Shurley english. (I have videos on both) Both give strong foundation. I have also done Shurley 1st and then Winston as review😉

Looking into heart of Dakota for my 7th grade son but am feeling a little overwhelmed because we’ve never used it before. We have been using rod and staff and master books. We love both and will use both still but we need a bit more. I’m hoping heart of Dakota will be that missing piece.

This year is my first year homeschooling my 6th grader and this year I am using different curriculum and pieced it together. It definitely has been a learning curve but will work for this year. It will be an adjustment as my son has been in ublic school his whole life. My heart is set on HOD for next year. My son is behind in math and has never really read real books (which we are working on this year). fortunately, my son loves history so this will be a great curriculum but I worry about sooooo much reading and there are so many books when you add the spines, read alouds, and then the books for th reading curriculum. Im afraid this may be too much for computer addicted kid. But I feel I need a curriculum that gets him away from the computer. We are doing Ancient history with Biblioplan this year which I love bc they give so many additional resources ( books, movies, maps etc). We are thinking resurrection to reformation for next year as that would be chronologically next in history. This year I am just working on getting him more independent and making him read alot more. Any thoughts or tips? And also is the reading going to be too much? Thanks for your advice!

So excited for you as you begin your homeschool journey!! This year will definitely be an adjustment ❤️🙏 I am wondering how his reading is?? There is a lot of reading, but even though my son is a very good ready he enjoys when I read or even take turns. Going from be surrounded by people and then working on your own would be an adjustment 😉 Also we do not do the HOD reading program😉 I am actually going to talk about it in a video soon😉 Sounds like you have a son with interest in computers 😁 You can use HOD and also let your child explore their own interest. I know you know this - but computers can be very dangerous ground for any age without some sort of restriction and education. Maybe find some agar appropriate classes about computers you can take together🤗❤️ Hope this was helpful!!!

@@learningwithboys7431 Thanks for the response. My son is able to read just fine but like I said this year i am incorporating more reading bc he never reads on his ( not that he cant- he doesnt struggle). It seems that HOD would be a lot of reading with the spines, read alouds and the separate reading program. I just dont wan to bog him down and make him hate reading even more. We are using Biblioplan which has an audio to go with it which is helpful I think. I have also found books to read that I can also get on Audible to lesson the amount of reading. I looked at the books that would be required for the resuurecttion to reformation and some of them are on Audible so that will be helpful. Maybe I wont get the read alouds too? I just really like how HOD is laid out and looking at the high school years I really love the choice of curriculum. I really appreciate your advice!! God bless! Oh I forgot to ask why you do not do the Reading program? Do you use something different. It seems there is so much literature that additionbal specialized reading curriculum would be unnecessary.

I was thinking of switching to the heart of Dakota next year but can't decide where to place my son. He will be in 7th grade but we have just finished learning about American history through sonlight. So I'm not sure where I should place him? Would you have a suggestion? Thanks. By the way I love watching your videos.

Excited for you!!! Question would be did he do the 1 year? I have a few thoughts😉I did have a 7th grader do Res to Ref than skip one and do modern than in 9th did WG. In 7th he did different math, LA, and science. I almost think the science would be fine though. This all depends on where you child is??? (So cannot say a lot) I would say call HOD, but I also understand that my son would not want to do American again the next year😉 if you want I would love to chat with you.
