Like the writing in this season. “I’m invested in your future.” I think he invested in many of their future because he knew what Emma would become.

I also think he knew, long before he unleashed the Chernabog, that Emma had the highest potential for darkness, hence some of his actions, just a little more motivation to do some of the things he did not just because she would be the savior, but what else she could have become.

@@historygirl1000 that is when they first met, not when Emma realized Henry was right all along (because he was under the sleeping curse) Emma and Regina go to Gold in his shop and, as they enter, Gold says something along the lines of, "Are those the eyes of a believer?"
